Reds Activate Closer Pagan, Shuffle Roster After Myers Injury

The Cincinnati Reds made a series of roster moves Tuesday, reinstating closer Emilio Pagan from the 15-day injured list while sending outfielder Dane Myers to the 10-day injured list.

In addition to those moves, the club optioned right-handed pitcher Zach McCambley down to Triple-A Louisville and recalled infielder/outfielder Ivan Johnson from that same affiliate.

Pagan, who is 35 years old, has been out of action since May 5 after straining his left hamstring during a game against the Chicago Cubs. On the season, he holds a 2-1 record with a 6.43 ERA and six saves across 15 appearances.

Myers, 30, suffered a left shoulder contusion after crashing into the outfield wall while making an acrobatic catch in the fourth inning of Monday’s 5-3 defeat in Milwaukee. Through 63 games this season, he is hitting .256 with three home runs and 14 RBIs.

McCambley, 27, made his major league debut on June 3 and has appeared in four games out of the bullpen, posting a 6.23 ERA with no decisions to his name.

Johnson, also 27, was selected by Cincinnati in the fourth round of the 2019 draft and has yet to appear in a major league game. This season at Louisville, he has batted .290 with nine home runs and 28 RBIs in 55 games.
