Red Sox Stun Yankees in 10th, Complete Rare Four-Game Sweep

The Boston Red Sox delivered a stunning comeback in extra innings Sunday night, topping the visiting New York Yankees 5-4 to cap a four-game sweep — their first against New York since 2018.

Jarren Duran came through with a clutch single to right field in the 10th inning, scoring Masataka Yoshida with the winning run. The decisive frame also featured an RBI single from Anthony Seigler, who drove in Caleb Durbin, and a sacrifice fly off the bat of Tsung-Che Cheng that brought home Andruw Monasterio.

Boston starter Sonny Gray was dominant through most of the game, retiring Yankees batters without a hit through 7 1/3 innings before Amed Rosario broke up the bid with a single in the eighth. Gray was removed after that hit, finishing with nine strikeouts and just one walk.

The Yankees mounted a dramatic rally of their own, tying the game with two runs in the ninth against Red Sox closer Aroldis Chapman before grabbing a two-run advantage in the top of the 10th. Errors by Boston right fielder Wilyer Abreu contributed to the damage in both innings. New York starter Carlos Rodon held the Red Sox to one hit and two unearned runs across five innings.
