NFL safety Jordan Whitehead is ready to get back on the field. According to a Monday report from NFL Network, Whitehead has been cleared to resume football activities after his career was sidelined by injuries sustained in a two-vehicle car crash at the start of 2025.
Whitehead, who was part of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ Super Bowl-winning team in 2020, received medical clearance following neck surgery from both his operating surgeon and spine specialist Alex Vaccaro of the Philadelphia Eagles.
The veteran defensive back has already drawn attention from around the league, working out for both the Indianapolis Colts and the Houston Texans as he looks to secure a new contract.
The 29-year-old has been away from the game since he was seriously hurt in the automobile accident on January 4, 2025. Originally drafted by Tampa Bay in the fourth round of the 2018 NFL Draft, Whitehead spent the 2022 and 2023 seasons with the New York Jets before heading back to the Buccaneers in 2024.
Over the course of his professional career, Whitehead has appeared in 105 games with 101 starts, recording 11 interceptions, 557 tackles, and 45 passes defensed.
