The Los Angeles Lakers announced Sunday that they have signed forward Ziaire Williams, bringing the five-year NBA veteran into the fold on a new deal.
The team did not disclose contract details, but several media outlets reported Monday that the agreement is a one-year contract worth $3 million.
The 6-foot-9 Williams will be teaming up again with Bronny James, a former classmate and teammate at Sierra Canyon high school in California. Williams, originally from Lancaster, California, was a McDonald’s All-American and a consensus five-star recruit coming out of the 2020 class.
Selected 10th overall in the 2021 NBA Draft by the Memphis Grizzlies out of Stanford University, Williams has averaged 8.7 points per game throughout his professional career. He spent three seasons in Memphis before moving to Brooklyn, where he put together his best statistical season last year, averaging a career-high 10.2 points per game for the Nets.
During his first year in Brooklyn, Williams set personal bests across multiple categories, including games played and starts (63 and 45, respectively), total points (632), field goals made (214), three-pointers made (103), rebounds (287), assists (84), and blocked shots (28).
The 24-year-old also showed efficiency at the free throw line, converting 85% of his attempts — hitting 119 of 140 — in the 2025-26 season. For his career, he has made 82.4% of his free throw attempts.
