NEW DELHI — Young demonstrators in India have agreed to bring their weeks-long protest movement to a close, according to a spokesperson for the group known as the ‘cockroach’ movement, who spoke to reporters following negotiations with government officials on Saturday.
The decision to end the demonstrations came just hours after the country’s education minister stepped down from his position. Protesters had been calling for his resignation for weeks, citing widespread anger over leaks involving national examinations.
