DOVER, Del. — Delaware State University is heading back to Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, and this time it’s a rematch.
The university announced that it will face Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference rival Norfolk State University at the iconic Philadelphia Eagles stadium on Saturday, October 31, 2026.
The upcoming contest is a return engagement of the first-ever HBCU Battle of the Legends, a game that captured the attention of football fans and the national media alike. That inaugural matchup drew an impressive 47,266 fans to the stadium last October.
The event went far beyond the football field — it was highlighted on Good Morning America and aired nationally on ESPNU. The excitement surrounding the game also included a lively campus celebration that featured Stephen A. Smith’s First Take.
With that kind of momentum behind them, Delaware State University is clearly looking to build on the success of last year’s historic event when the Hornets return to Philadelphia in the fall of 2026.
