EssilorLuxottica Posts Strong Profits as AI Glasses and Myopia Sales Surge

Eyewear manufacturer EssilorLuxottica, the Franco-Italian company known for making Ray-Ban sunglasses, announced Tuesday that its adjusted operating profit for the first half of the year climbed 15%, easily surpassing what financial analysts had anticipated.

The company recorded adjusted operating profit of €2.75 billion — roughly $3.13 billion — for the six-month period ending June 30. That figure came in well ahead of the €2.46 billion that analysts at Visible Alpha had projected.

EssilorLuxottica did not offer a detailed explanation for why its profit performance exceeded expectations. However, it is worth noting that several other European companies, including Philips, have recently reported profit margins that beat market forecasts, with some of those gains linked to reimbursements connected to U.S. tariffs.

Looking at the second quarter alone, the company’s revenue grew 8.7% on a constant exchange rate basis. Two areas stood out as key growth drivers: sales of AI-enabled glasses produced in collaboration with Meta nearly doubled compared to the same period last year, and revenue from the company’s myopia management product line grew by 24%.
