Delaware ‘Food is Medicine’ Plan to Be Revealed at State Fair Next Week

HARRINGTON — Residents across Delaware will get a first look at a sweeping new health initiative when officials gather at the Delaware State Fairgrounds next Tuesday, July 28, 2026.

The Delaware Food is Medicine Committee, also known as the FIMC, is scheduled to present its plan for establishing a statewide “Food is Medicine” system at a special public meeting on the fairgrounds.

The committee is drawing on federal dollars from the Rural Health Transformation Program to fund the effort. More than $1 million in federal funding is expected to support the initiative as organizers work to turn the concept into a fully operational statewide program.

The Harrington event will serve as the public unveiling of the pathway forward for the program, giving community members a chance to learn how the initiative is expected to take shape across the state.
