    State Police Detectives Investigating Millsboro Armed Robbery

    The Delaware State Police are investigating an armed robbery that occurred at Uncle Willie’s in Millsboro yesterday.

    On September 18, 2024, at approximately 6:20 p.m., troopers responded to a report of a robbery at Uncle Willie’s, located at 30058 John J. Williams Highway in Millsboro. The preliminary investigation revealed that two unknown white male suspects entered the store, approached the cashier while holding a firearm. The suspects demanded money and tobacco products. The cashier complied, and the suspects fled in an unknown direction with an undisclosed amount of money.

    The suspects are described as white males wearing dark-colored clothing. Surveillance video and images are not yet available.

    The Delaware State Police Troop 4 Major Crimes Unit continues to investigate this incident. Detectives are asking anyone with information about this case to contact Detective C.     Troopers Arrest Seaford Man for Felony Drug Charges Following Traffic Stop

    Delaware State Police have arrested 46-year-old Terrence Banks of Seaford, Delaware, on multiple drug charges following a traffic stop in Seaford.

    On September 17, 2024, at approximately 11:25 a.m., Sussex County Governor’s Task Force were on patrol and saw a Chevrolet Silverado traveling northbound on Atlanta Road near Bucks Branch Road in Seaford with an equipment violation. Detectives pulled the truck over and spoke to the driver, identified as Terrence Banks. During the traffic stop, detectives discovered the truck’s insurance was expired and Banks could not provide any proof that he was the registered owner of the truck. Banks was ultimately taken into custody without incident after he refused multiple verbal commands to exit the truck. A subsequent search of Banks led to the discovery of approximately 7.68 grams of cocaine and approximately $1,821 of suspected drug proceeds.

    After taking Banks into custody, detectives obtained and executed a search warrant on the Silverado, which led to the discovery of approximately 1.67 pounds of cocaine, and approximately 23.793 grams of heroin.

    Banks was taken to Troop 4 where he was charged with the crimes listed below, arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2, and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on $84,500 cash bond.

    State Police Investigating Single-Vehicle Fatal Crash in Felton

    Delaware State Police are investigating a single-vehicle fatal crash that occurred in Felton early yesterday morning.

    On September 17, 2024, at approximately 2:02 a.m., a Ford F-150 was traveling westbound on Spectrum Farms Road approaching Edwardsville Road. For reasons under investigation, the F-150 failed to negotiate a curve, left the north side of the road, and overturned. An unrestrained passenger was ejected from the truck.

    The passenger, a 14-year-old male from Felton, was pronounced dead at the scene. His name is being withheld until his family is notified.

    An occupant, a 19-year-old woman from Felton, was taken to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Another occupant, an unknown male, left the scene before troopers arrived. The driver of the F-150 has not yet been identified and the investigation is ongoing.

    The roadway was closed for approximately 4 hours while the scene was investigated and cleared.

    The Delaware State Police Troop 3 Collision Reconstruction Unit continues to investigate this incident.     Delaware State Police are investigating a homicide in Dover that left one man dead.

    On September 16, 2024, at approximately 6:00 p.m., troopers responded to the 400 block of East Denney’s Road for a report of a vehicle in a ditch. When troopers arrived, they found a 45-year-old man in the vehicle suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. His name is being withheld until his family is notified.

    *Update* Additional Suspects Arrested in 2022 Seaford Home Invasion Homicide

    The Delaware State Police have arrested 16-year-old Denzel Maker of Seaford, Delaware, and 20-year-old Timothy Ohara of Lincoln, Delaware, for murder and related charges following a Seaford home invasion homicide that occurred in 2022.

    On October 11, 2022, at approximately 11:53 p.m., troopers responded to a residence located in the 2800 block of West Stein Highway, Seaford, for a reported home invasion with a shooting where two residents were struck by gunfire. The victim, Carl Pedone, Jr., was shot multiple times in the torso. He was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced deceased. The second victim, a 19-year-old female of Seaford, was also struck once in her lower extremity. She was transported to an area hospital where she was treated and released.

    The investigation determined five suspects made forced entry through the rear door of the residence. Once inside, the suspects brandished handguns and went directly to the victim’s bedroom where he and the female victim were located and demanded an unknown item. The male victim was shot inside his bedroom and the female victim was shot seated on a chair in the same room. Also, inside the residence at the time of this incident was an infant child and two other adults that also reside at this address. They were not injured during the incident.

    Through investigative means, the Delaware State Police Homicide Unit identified Maker and Ohara as the additional suspects. On August 12, 2024, both were indicted by a Sussex County Grand Jury.

    On August 30, 2024, Ohara, who was incarcerated at James T. Vaughn Correctional Institution, was arrested, and charged with crimes listed below, arraigned by Sussex County Superior Court, and remains at James T. Vaughn Correctional Institution on a $500,000 cash bond.

    *Update – Victim Succumbs to Injuries* State Police Detectives Investigating Attempted Murder in Lincoln

    The Delaware State Police Homicide Unit continues to investigate a fatal shooting that occurred in Lincoln on Sunday that has left a woman dead.

    On September 8, 2024, at approximately 6:48 a.m., troopers responded to a residence on the 23000 block of Deep Creek Drive, Lincoln, for a report of a shooting. Upon arriving, troopers learned the suspect, identified as Nicholas Mosley, fled in a vehicle in an unknown direction. Troopers further discovered a 43-year-old woman, identified as Denise Mosley, and a 20-year-old man suffering from apparent gunshot wounds and performed lifesaving measures until EMS arrived. Denise Mosley was taken to an area trauma hospital, where she was admitted in critical condition. The 20-year-old victim was transported to an area hospital, where he was admitted for non-life-threatening injuries.

    On September 9, 2024, Denise Mosley died as a result of her injuries from the shooting.

    The suspect, Nicholas Mosley, remains at Sussex Correctional Institution. Updated charges are pending.

    Troopers Arrest Smyrna Man for Gun and Drug Charges

    Delaware State Police have arrested 47-year-old Richard Butcher of Smyrna, Delaware, on multiple gun and drug-related charges near Hartly.

    On September 8, 2024, at approximately 8:50 p.m., a trooper on patrol saw a Chevrolet Equinox exit the parking lot of Royal Farms, located at 6358 Halltown Road in Hartly, with an equipment violation. The trooper attempted to pull the Equinox over on Pearson’s Corner Road near Yoder Drive, but it sped away. The trooper pursued the Equinox but terminated the pursuit for the safety of other motorists. The trooper checked the area and later found the Equinox in a soybean field on Bryant’s Corner Road. When the trooper approached the vehicle, the driver, later identified as Richard Butcher, began to run away but was ultimately taken into custody. During a search of Butcher, troopers found approximately 15.02 grams of cocaine. Troopers also searched the Equinox and found a loaded handgun.

    Butcher was taken to Troop 3 where he was charged with the crimes listed below, arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 7, and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on $52,500 cash bond.

    State Police Detectives Investigating Robbery in Laurel

    The Delaware State Police are investigating a robbery that occurred at a restaurant in Laurel last night.

    On September 8, 2024, at approximately 10:22 p.m., troopers responded to a robbery at Tacos Chabelita, located at 30661 Sussex Highway in Laurel. The preliminary investigation revealed that an unknown black male suspect entered the business, assaulted the victims, and forcefully removed money that the employees had on a table. Before fleeing, the suspect broke windows to the business, damaged a vehicle in the parking lot, and assaulted another victim with a hammer. Troopers searched the area but were unable to locate the suspect. The victims sustained minor injuries.

    The suspect is described as an unknown black male, 5’10 – 6’02, medium build, last seen wearing gray sweatpants, and either a white or black shirt. Surveillance video and images are not yet available.

    Delaware State Police Troop 4 continues to investigate this robbery. Detectives are asking anyone with information about this case to contact Det. D. Hickman by calling (302) 752-3856.   • State Police Detectives Arrest Dagsboro Pair for Felony Theft

    State Police Detectives Arrest Dagsboro Pair for Felony Theft

    Delaware State Police have arrested 40-year-old Cody Hudson and 45-year-old Tara Higgins, both of Dagsboro, Delaware, for multiple felonies following a theft investigation.

    Between May and July 2024, Troop 4 Criminal Investigations Unit investigated several thefts of a similar nature in the Frankford area. In each of the thefts, unknown suspects entered a commercial property and stole a skid steer.

    On September 3, 2024, Troop 4 Detectives learned Worcester County Sheriff’s Office Deputies were investigating thefts in Berlin, Maryland. Subsequently, Troop 4 Detectives, in collaboration with Worcester County Sheriff’s Deputies, identified Cody Hudson and Tara Higgins, as the suspects in the skid steer thefts as well as the thefts that occurred in Berlin, Maryland. Troop 4 Detectives obtained warrants for their arrest. On September 4, 2024, detectives executed a search warrant at a property on the 31000 block of Swamp Road in Dagsboro and recovered one of the stolen skid steers and the stolen property from Maryland. Hudson and Higgins were arrested at the property without incident.

    Hudson and Higgins were taken to Troop 4, where they were charged with multiple crimes. Charges from Worcester County Sheriff’s Office are pending.


    Hudson was charged with the crimes listed below, arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2, and released on a $11,502 unsecured bond.

    Troopers Arrest Bridgeville Man for Aggravated Menacing

    Delaware State Police have arrested 18-year-old Jacob Shade of Bridgeville, Delaware, for aggravated menacing that occurred in Seaford.

    On September 2, 2024, at approximately 10:55 p.m., troopers were contacted by a 42-year-old victim at Royal Farms, located at 8800 Concord Road in Seaford, who reported an aggravated menacing. Troopers learned that the victim was involved in an argument on the 1500 block of Middleford Road with the suspect, later identified as Jacob Shade. During the argument, Shade pulled a gun and pressed it against the victim’s chest. The victim was not hurt, and troopers obtained a warrant for his arrest.

    Shade was arrested and taken to Troop 5, where he was charged with crimes listed below, arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 7, and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on a $25,000 cash bond.

    Troopers Arrest Greenwood Man for Gun and Drug Charges During Traffic Stop

    Delaware State Police have arrested 33-year-old Akeem Frazier of Greenwood, Delaware, on multiple gun and drug-related charges during a traffic stop in Bridgeville.

    On September 3, 2024, at approximately 10:25 a.m., a trooper on patrol saw a Jeep Compass travelling northbound on Coverdale Road near Mill Park Drive with a registration violation. The trooper pulled the Jeep over and spoke to the driver, later identified as Akeem Frazier. While talking to Frazier, he did not provide his driver’s license, and when asked to exit the Jeep, he hesitated and appeared nervous. When he did exit the Jeep, the trooper saw the handle of a gun sticking out from under the driver’s seat. Frazier was arrested and during a search of him and the Jeep, troopers found approximately .203 grams of heroin, approximately 1.18 grams of crack cocaine, approximately 0.71 grams of powder cocaine, drug paraphernalia, and a loaded .45 caliber handgun.

    Frazier was taken to Troop 5, where he was charged with the crimes listed below, arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2, and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on a $50,803 cash bond.

    Troopers Arrest Millsboro Man for Burglary and Felony Theft

    Delaware State Police have arrested 30-year-old Wayne Warwick of Millsboro, Delaware, for burglary and theft from vehicles in the Oak Orchard area of Millsboro.

    On August 24, 2024, at approximately 5:17 p.m., troopers responded to a burglary on the 28000 block of Cherokee Avenue in the Oak Orchard area of Millsboro. When troopers arrived, they learned that an unknown suspect forced entry into a house, but nothing was taken. During the burglary investigation, troopers also learned that between August 23rd and August 24th, an unknown suspect removed and attempted to remove property from unsecured vehicles on Cherokee and Wynikako Avenue. Through investigative means, troopers identified Wayne Warwick as the suspect and obtained warrants for his arrest.

    On August 29, 2024, Warwick was arrested and taken to Troop 4. He was charged with the crimes listed below, arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2, and released on a $5,000 unsecured bond.

    State Police Detectives Arrest Two Teens for Burglary in Long Neck

    Delaware State Police have arrested a 15-year-old and a 13-year-old, both from Millsboro, for repeat burglaries to a Long Neck business.

    On August 17, 2024, troopers responded to Poppy’s Produce, located at 32861 Long Neck Road in Millsboro, for a burglary. When troopers arrived, they learned that unknown suspects damaged a gate to the property, entered the business, and removed items from a beverage refrigerator. On August 19th and August 26th, troopers again took reports of a burglary to the business. Troopers learned that the unknown suspects entered the business and stole food and drinks. Through investigative means, detectives identified two teenagers as suspects and obtained warrants for their arrest. Detectives are working to identify other suspects.

    On August 28, 2024, the 15-year-old turned their self in at Troop 4, where they were charged with the crimes listed below, arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2, and released to the custody of a guardian.

    State Police Detectives Investigating a Shooting Near Lincoln

    The Delaware State Police are investigating a shooting that occurred on Issacs Road near Lincoln yesterday morning.

    On August 28, 2024, at approximately 11:41 a.m., troopers responded to a road rage shooting that occurred earlier that morning on Issacs Road near Cedar Creek Road. The preliminary investigation revealed the victim was driving northbound on Issacs Road and was involved in an alleged road rage incident with the driver of an unknown pick-up truck. The driver of the pick-up truck fired a shot at the victim and fled the area. The victim was not hurt.

    Delaware State Police Troop 4 Criminal Investigations Unit continues to investigate this incident.     Troopers Arrest Duo for Organized Retail Theft in Rehoboth Beach

    Delaware State Police arrested 28-year-old Antonio Hunter and 44-year-old Kizzy Holbrook, both of Salisbury, Maryland, for organized retail theft following a series of shopliftings from multiple stores in Tanger Bayside Outlets in Rehoboth Beach.

    On August 28, 2024, at approximately 4:57 p.m., troopers responded to Coach Outlet, located at 36698 Bayside Outlet Drive in Rehoboth Beach, for a shoplifting. Upon arriving, troopers were told that a black male, wearing a white shirt, red hat, and red shoes, stole a duffle bag from the store. Troopers searched the area but were unable to find the suspect. At approximately 7:08 p.m., troopers again responded to Bayside Outlets for a shoplifting at Nike Outlet. Troopers learned that a black male, with the same description, and a black female wearing a black shirt and dark pants, had stolen several items from the store and were seen in a black Toyota Corolla with Delaware registration.

    While searching the shopping center for the suspects, troopers found the Toyota parked in the parking lot and contacted the sole occupant, identified as Kizzy Holbrook, she was arrested without incident. Troopers found the male suspect, identified as Antonio Hunter, as he was exiting the Lids Outlet. He too was arrested without incident.

    Troopers searched the Toyota and found merchandise that was stolen from the Coach, Nike, Victoria’s Secret, Lids, and Adidas Outlets valued at approximately $2,293.

    Hunter and Holbrook were both taken to Troop 7, where they were charged with multiple crimes.


    Hunter was charged with the crime listed below, arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 7, and released on his own recognizance.

    On August 24, 2024, at approximately 9:50 p.m., troopers responded to a robbery at Arby’s, located at 13 Possum Park Mall in Newark. The investigation revealed that an unknown black male suspect entered the business, went behind the counter, and sprayed a chemical agent on an employee. The suspect continued to spray the chemical agent, forced a second employee to another part of the business, and took an undisclosed amount of money from a safe.

    *Update – Second Suspect Arrested* Detectives Seek Public’s Help to Locate Additional Suspect in Irrigation Copper Wire Thefts

    Delaware State Police have arrested 39-year-old Michael Plummer of Greenwood, Delaware, for theft of copper wire from irrigation systems in Kent and Sussex Counties.

    Between April 12, 2024, and August 16, 2024, detectives from Troop 3 and Troop 4 investigated multiple thefts of copper wire from irrigation systems in the Bridgeville, Greenwood, and Houston areas. In each of the incidents, unknown suspects trespassed onto private properties, cut and removed copper wire from pivot irrigation systems, and caused significant damage to the equipment. Through investigative means, detectives identified Dorothy Wooleyhand and Michael Plummer as the suspects and obtained warrants for their arrest.

    On August 23, 2024, Plummer was arrested and taken to Troop 5, where he was charged with the crimes listed below, arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2, and released on a $21,610 unsecured bond.

    On August 24, 2024, at approximately 11:10 p.m., troopers responded to a house on the 10000 block of South Dupont Highway in Felton for a report of a shooting. When troopers arrived, they learned an unknown suspect fired an unknown number of shots that hit the occupied house. There was one adult inside at the time of the shooting. The victim was not injured, and the incident remains under investigation.

    Delaware State Police are investigating an attempted kidnapping of a child that occurred last night in Smyrna.

    On August 24, 2024, at approximately 8:41 p.m., troopers responded to Spruce Court in Holly Hills Estates in Smyrna for a suspicious person. When troopers arrived, they learned that an unknown white male suspect approached a 12-year-old and began to ask the child questions. While the suspect was asking questions, he grabbed the child by the arm. The child was able to get away and call for help. Troopers and detectives searched the area for the suspect but were unable to locate him. The child was not hurt during the incident.

    The suspect is described as a white male, thin build, approximately 20-30 years of age, 5’10’’- 6’0’’ tall, blue or green eyes, dirty blonde hair, and no facial hair. He was last seen wearing black pants and a black hooded sweatshirt.

    Delaware State Police and Dover Police Department have arrested 30-year-old Enrico Mancuso for the bank robberies that occurred in July at PNC Bank in Dover and WSFS Bank in Wilmington.

    On July 9, 2024, at approximately 11:14 a.m., officers from the Dover Police Department responded to PNC Bank, located at 3 Loockerman Plaza in Dover, for a report of a robbery. The preliminary investigation revealed a light-skinned male suspect entered the bank and handed a demand note to the bank teller. The teller complied and the suspect fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash.

    On July 16, 2024, at approximately 2:51 p.m., troopers responded to the WSFS Bank, located at 4601 Kirkwood Highway in Wilmington, for a report of a robbery. The preliminary investigation revealed an unknown white male suspect entered the bank and presented a demand note to the bank teller. The victim complied and the suspect fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash.

    On August 22, 2024, Mancuso was arrested and taken to Dover Police Department. He was charged with the crimes listed below, arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2, and released on his own recognizance. He was committed to Sussex Community Corrections Center on a $15,000 cash bond for violation of probation.

    Detectives Arrest Man for Home Improvement Fraud

    Delaware State Police have arrested 45-year-old Jeremy Bowen of Houston, Delaware for home improvement fraud following multiple fraud investigations.

    In July of 2024, Troop 4 Financial Crimes Detectives began investigating Jeremy Bowen of Delmarva Landscaping Solutions, LLC and Shoreline Escapes, LLC for home improvement fraud. During the investigation, detectives learned that Bowen had signed a contract in March of 2023 with a 65-year-old Georgetown man to install an inground pool and paid Bowen $27,500. In September of 2023, Bowen signed a contract with an Ocean View woman to install an inground pool and paid Bowen $18,000. In March of 2024, Bowen signed a contract with a Frankford man to install a fence and paid Bowen $1,600. In all cases, the work was not completed, the contracts were not fulfilled, and only one victim received partial reimbursement.

    Detectives obtained warrants for his arrest and last week, Bowen turned himself in at Troop 4. He was charged with the crimes listed below, arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2, and released after posting an $8,000 secured and $3,000 cash bond.

    Troopers Arrest Maryland Man for Assaulting Kent County EMT’s at Phish Mondegreen Festival

    Delaware State Police have arrested 26-year-old William Urspruch of Chestertown, Maryland for assault and offensive touching at Phish Mondegreen Festival in Dover.

    On August 16, 2024, at approximately 10:30 p.m., troopers on duty at Phish Mondegreen Festival were notified that an attendee, identified as William Urspruch, was under the influence, and acting erratically. While medical personnel were treating Urspruch, he punched an EMT and bit another. Urspruch was ultimately taken to an area hospital. The EMT’s suffered minor injuries.

    After Urspruch was released from the hospital, he was taken to Troop 3 where he was charged with the crimes listed below, arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 7, and released after posting a $3,000 secured bond.

    • Assault 2nd, injuring an EMT (Felony)

    Troopers Arrest Selbyville Man for Aggravated Menacing

    Delaware State Police arrested 47-year-old Matthew Mitchell of Selbyville, Delaware, for aggravated menacing and other charges yesterday.

    On August 18, 2024, at approximately 5:25 p.m., troopers responded to the 30000 block of Peppers Creek Road in Dagsboro for a disorderly person. When troopers arrived, they spoke with a 44-year-old male victim who said that a man, later identified as Matthew Mitchell, slashed the tires on his truck and threatened him with a knife. During the investigation, troopers learned that the victim was parked in the Dogwood Acres Community when Mitchell approached and began slashing the truck’s tires. The confrontation allegedly stemmed from an earlier incident where the victim’s truck tailgated Mitchell on Vines Creek Road. A physical altercation began after the victim got out of his vehicle, during which Mitchell allegedly grabbed him and threatened him with a knife. The victim was not injured during the incident.

    Mitchell was arrested and taken to Troop 4, where he was charged with crimes listed below, arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 3, and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on a $16,300 secured bond.

    State Police Arrest Wilmington Man for Robbery

    Delaware State Police arrested 53-year-old Luis Santiago, of Wilmington, Delaware, for a robbery that occurred yesterday morning at a Valero gas station in Wilmington.

    On August 15, 2024, at approximately 11:18 a.m., troopers responded to Valero gas station, located at 1327 McKennan’s Church Road in Wilmington for a report of a robbery. The investigation revealed that the suspect, identified as Luis Santiago, approached a woman at the gas pumps, forcefully took her cell phone and fled. While being followed and ultimately restrained by Good Samaritans, Santiago threw the stolen phone, causing it to be damaged. Santiago was held down until troopers arrived and took him into custody. The victim suffered minor injuries.

    Santiago also sustained injuries when being restrained by the Good Samaritans. While being transported by ambulance to an area hospital, he became disorderly and kicked an EMT. Once at the hospital, Santiago continued to resist and struggled with staff, resulting in a minor injury to one of the staff members.

    Santiago was released from the hospital and taken to Troop 2. He was charged with the crimes listed below, arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 11, and committed to Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on a $7,100 cash bond.

    Delaware State Police are investigating a shooting in New Castle today that left a teenager injured.

    On August 16, 2024, at approximately 12:20 a.m., troopers responded to a shooting at the McDonald’s located at 101 South Dupont Highway in New Castle. The investigation revealed that a car was traveling westbound on Christiana Road, approaching Pleasant Place, when it made a U-turn at the intersection. As the car completed the turn, the occupants noticed two unknown black males wearing dark clothing at the intersection, one of whom fired several shots at the vehicle. The passenger, a 16-year-old, was struck in the thigh. The victims then drove to McDonald’s and called 9-1-1. The injured teen was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, while the driver, a 51-year-old man, was unharmed.

    State Police Investigating Fatal Bicycle Crash in Seaford

    The Delaware State Police are investigating a fatal crash involving a 3-year-old bicyclist in Seaford.

    On August 15, 2024, at approximately 7:45 p.m., a Toyota Tacoma was traveling westbound on a gravel road between North Parkway Road and South Parkway Road in the community of Mobile Gardens. At the same time, a 3-year-old child was riding a bicycle in the middle of North Parkway Road. The preliminary investigation revealed that the Tacoma turned southbound on North Parkway Road, and the front of the Tacoma hit the child.

    The 3-year-old child from Seaford, Delaware, was taken to an area hospital by family members where they died. Their name is being withheld until their family is notified. The driver of the Tacoma, a 56-year-old woman from Seaford, Delaware, was not injured.

    North Parkway Road was closed for approximately 4 hours while the scene was investigated and cleared.

    On August 16, 2024, at approximately 1:40 a.m., an unknown vehicle was driving northbound on South Dupont Highway, just south of POW/MIA Parkway. At the same time, a pedestrian was near or on the northbound shoulder of South Dupont Highway, south of POW/MIA Parkway. The investigation revealed that the vehicle struck the pedestrian and fled the scene in an unknown direction.

    The victim, a 62-year-old man from Dover, was pronounced dead at the scene. His name is being withheld until his family has been notified.

    South Dupont Highway was closed for approximately 3 hours while the scene was investigated and cleared.

    Delaware State Police have arrested a 15-year-old from Millsboro, Delaware, for felony gun and related charges after a shooting in Millsboro.

    On August 13, 2024, at approximately 12:12 p.m., troopers responded to the 26000 block of Blue Dolphin Lane in Millsboro, for a report of a shooting that occurred the night before. The investigation revealed that during an argument with another teenager, the suspect pointed a gun at the victim, then fired a shot inside the house as he was leaving. There were four juveniles in the house at the time and no one was hurt during the incident.

    Detectives identified and arrested the suspect. He was taken to Troop 7 where he was charged with the crimes listed below, arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 3, and committed to Stevenson House Detention Center on a $100,000 cash bond.

    • Reckless Endangering 1st Degree (Felony) – 4 counts

    Georgetown Volunteer Firefighter and Sussex County Employee Tragically Dies While Providing Aid at Crash Scene

    The Delaware State Police are investigating the tragic death of 23-year-old Thomas Berry III, a dedicated volunteer firefighter with the Georgetown and Ellendale Fire Companies and a valued Logistics Technician with Sussex County Emergency Medical Services.

    On August 13, 2024, at approximately 4:24 p.m., a Chevrolet Malibu was driving eastbound on Lewes-Georgetown Highway west of Gravel Hill Road in Georgetown. At the same time, a Toyota Camry was driving eastbound in front of the Malibu. The preliminary investigation revealed that the Malibu was attempting to pass the Camry. When the Malibu re-entered the eastbound lane ahead of the Camry, the right side of the Malibu sideswiped the left side of the Camry. The Malibu then veered off the road and struck a utility pole.

    After the crash, Firefighter Berry stopped to help the drivers involved. While helping the driver of the Malibu, the utility pole snapped, bringing down the electrical wires. As a result, Firefighter Berry sustained life-threatening injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The Division of Forensic Science will determine the official cause of death.

    The driver of the Malibu, a 37-year-old man from Salisbury, Maryland, was taken to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the Camry, a 54-year-old woman from Milton, Delaware, was not injured during the crash.

    Lewes-Georgetown Highway was closed for approximately 12 hours while the scene was investigated and cleared.

    Delaware State Police are investigating a fatal two-vehicle crash that occurred near Middletown yesterday.

    On August 10, 2024, at approximately 4:56 p.m., a Ford Explorer was driving northbound, in the right lane, on Summit Bridge Road approaching Red Lion Road. At the same time, a Ford Edge was driving southbound on Summit Bridge Road and had entered the left turn lane for Red Lion Road. For reasons still under investigation, the Edge proceeded to turn left into the Explorer’s path of travel. As a result, the front of the Explorer hit the passenger’s side of the Edge.

    The driver of the Edge, a 66-year-old man from Media, Pennsylvania, and two passengers, a 79-year-old woman from Wilmington, Delaware, and a 28-year-old woman from Media, Pennsylvania, were taken to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. A third passenger, a 61-year-old woman from Media, Pennsylvania, was taken to an area hospital with serious injuries. A fourth passenger, an 83-year-old man from Wilmington, Delaware, was taken to an area hospital where he died. His name is being withheld until his family is notified.

    The driver of the Explorer, a 25-year-old man from St. Louis, Missouri, and a passenger, a 29-year-old woman from North Brunswick, New Jersey were taken to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

    The roadway was closed for approximately 5 hours while the scene was investigated and cleared.

    Delaware State Police are investigating a fatal motorcycle crash that occurred in Newark on Tuesday.

    On August 6, 2024, at approximately 5:01 p.m., a Harley Davidson FXS motorcycle was driving eastbound, in the left lane, on Pulaski Highway approaching Wrangle Hill Road. At the same time, a Nissan Altima was driving westbound on Pulaski Highway and had entered the crossover east of Wrangle Hill Road. The preliminary investigation revealed that the Altima entered the eastbound lanes of Pulaski Highway into the motorcycle’s path of travel. As a result, the front of the motorcycle hit the passenger’s side of the Altima, ejecting the driver.

    The driver of the motorcycle, a 45-year-old woman from Bear, Delaware, was taken to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries. On August 8, 2024, she died from her injuries. Her name is being withheld until her family is notified.

    The driver of the Altima, a 24-year-old man from Newark, Delaware, was taken to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

She was last seen on Johnson Road in Lincoln on August 8, 2024, at approximately 11:50 p.m. Attempts to contact or locate her have been unsuccessful, and there is a concern for her safety and well-being.

    Brandy is approximately 5’1” tall, weighing approximately 135 pounds, with brown eyes and black hair. She was last seen wearing a gray t-shirt, blue sweatpants, and brown Uggs boots. Brandy is driving a 1995 white Chevrolet Tahoe with Delaware registration PC343961. Her destination is possibly the Dover area.

    Suspect in Custody Following Home Invasion Robbery in Georgetown

    Delaware State Police continue to investigate a home invasion and robbery that occurred yesterday afternoon in Georgetown.

    On August 8, 2024, at approximately 3:30 p.m., troopers responded to a house on the 21000 block of Zoar Road in Georgetown, for a home invasion. When troopers arrived, they learned that a man, identified as 36-year-old Lyndon King, who was a walk-away from Sussex Community Corrections Center, had forced entry into the house and was still there when the 69-year-old victim arrived home. King confronted the victim, threatened her, pushed her down, and pulled the house phone from the wall to prevent her from calling 9-1-1. He then stole her cell phone and fled in the victim’s Chevrolet Trax. After King fled, the victim went outside and waved down a passing vehicle and called 9-1-1. Troopers were able to electronically track the car, and learned that it was in Salisbury, Maryland. Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office and Salisbury Police Department found the vehicle and King near Staples, located on North Salisbury Boulevard, he was taken into custody shortly thereafter. The victim was not hurt during the incident.

    King is in custody in Maryland. Upon extradition to Delaware, he will be charged with the crimes listed below:

    • Robbery 1st Degree (Felony)
    • Home Invasion Burglary 1st Degree (Felony)
    • Terroristic Threatening Victim is Over 62 years old (Felony)

    Governor’s Task Force Arrest Millsboro Man for Felony Drug Charges

    Delaware State Police arrested 44-year-old Brent Ward of Millsboro, Delaware for felony drug charges Monday.

    On August 5, 2024, at approximately 2:41 p.m., members of the Sussex County Governor’s Task Force were on patrol in the Oak Orchard area of Millsboro. While on patrol, detectives saw a man, who appeared to be passed out, in front of God’s House of Deliverance Church, located at 31507 Oak Orchard Road. Detectives stopped to check on the man, identified as Brent Ward. After contacting Ward, who took several moments to rouse, detectives conducted a consensual search of his person. During the search, detectives found approximately 1.92 grams of crack cocaine, approximately 2.71 grams of powder cocaine, approximately 38 counterfeit prescription pills, and approximately 0.175 grams of heroin.

    Ward was arrested and taken to Troop 4, where he was charged with the crimes listed below, arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2, and released on his own recognizance.

    • Possession with Intent to Deliver a Controlled Substance (Felony) – 3 counts

    Troopers Arrest North Carolina Man with Stolen Gun on Traffic Stop

    Delaware State Police arrested 33-year-old Ralphon Owens of Greensboro, North Carolina, on multiple gun and drug-related charges on a traffic stop in Dover.

    On August 7, 2024, at approximately 1:17 a.m., a trooper on patrol saw a Jeep Cherokee exit the Rodney Village Shopping Center parking lot onto POW/MIA Parkway with its headlights off. The Jeep continued driving with its headlights off and failed to signal when turning onto Charles Polk Road. The trooper pulled the car over and spoke to the driver, identified as Ralphon Owens. While talking to Owens, the trooper smelled a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle and saw plastic baggies containing a leafy green plant-like substance consistent with marijuana in plain view. During a search of the vehicle, troopers found approximately 7 grams of suspected marijuana and a loaded .22 caliber handgun that a computer check showed was stolen from Los Angeles County, California.

    Owens was taken to Troop 3, where he was charged with the crimes listed below, arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 7, and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on a $7,003 secured bond.

    State Police Investigating Fatal Motorcycle Crash Near Millsboro

    Delaware State Police are investigating a fatal motorcycle crash that occurred near Millsboro this morning.

    On August 2, 2024, at approximately 8:33 a.m., a Harley Davidson motorcycle was driving northbound on Rockaway Acres Road, a private road, approaching Shiloh Church Road. At the same time, a Chevrolet Tahoe was driving eastbound on Shiloh Church Road approaching Rockaway Acres Road. The preliminary investigation revealed that the motorcycle was making a left turn onto Shiloh Church Road, into the Tahoe’s path of travel. As a result, the front of the Tahoe hit the motorcycle, ejecting the driver. After the impact, the Tahoe left the north side of the road and hit two trees.

    The driver of the motorcycle, a 19-year-old man from Georgetown, Delaware was taken to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead. His name is being withheld until his family is notified.

    The driver of the Tahoe, a 39-year-old woman, and a passenger, a 12-year-old child both from Laurel, Delaware, were not injured.

    The roadway was closed for approximately 3 hours while the scene was investigated and cleared.

    Troopers Arrest Bridgeville Man for 5th DUI Offense

    Delaware State Police arrested 40-year-old Willie Massey of Bridgeville, Delaware, for 5th offense felony DUI Thursday morning near Seaford.

    On August 1, 2024, at approximately 11:10 a.m., a trooper on patrol saw a Ford Fiesta driving southbound on Coverdale Road near Fisher Circle with a license plate that was not properly displayed. The trooper saw the driver of the Fiesta make an additional traffic violation and pulled the car over. The driver, identified as Willie Massey, showed signs of impairment. The trooper administered Standardized Field Sobriety Tests. After the tests, Massey was arrested for driving under the influence and a computer check showed that he had four prior DUI-related convictions.

    Massey was taken to Troop 5, where he was charged with the below crimes, arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2, and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on a $5,002 cash bond.

    Troopers Arrest Virginia Beach Man for Aggravated Menacing at Delaware State Fair

    Delaware State Police arrested 37-year-old Joseph Kellogg of Virginia Beach, Virginia, for aggravated menacing and gun-related charges late Saturday night at the Delaware State Fair.

    On July 27, 2024, at approximately 11:45 p.m., troopers responded to a hit and run vehicle crash in the Cow Parking Lot at the Delaware State Fair. Before troopers arrived, they were told that the two drivers involved in the crash were arguing, one displayed a gun, then fled in a black Honda Pilot. When troopers arrived, they learned that an unknown black male suspect, pointed a gun at the victim during the argument about the crash, then fled in a black Honda Pilot. Troopers searched the surrounding area and found the Honda. Troopers arrested the suspect, identified as Joseph Kellogg. The victim was not injured during the incident.

    Kellogg was taken to Troop 3, where he was charged with crimes listed below, arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 7, and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on a $55,201 secured bond.

    Delaware State Police are investigating a fatal scooter crash that occurred in Lewes yesterday.

    On July 29, 2024, at approximately 4:42 p.m., a Honda Accord was driving westbound on Clay Road approaching Marsh Road. At the same time, a Wolf Brand scooter was driving eastbound on Clay Road approaching Marsh Road. The preliminary investigation revealed that the Honda was making a left turn onto Marsh Road, into the scooter’s path of travel. As a result, the front of the scooter hit the rear passenger’s side of the Honda, and the driver of the scooter was ejected.

    The driver of the scooter, a 77-year-old man from Lewes, Delaware was taken to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead. His name is being withheld until his family is notified.

    The driver of the Honda, a 19-year-old woman from Cheswold, Delaware, was not injured.

When troopers arrived, they learned that an unknown suspect fired several shots at a group of people on the property. The victims were not injured, and the incident remains under investigation.

    Delaware State Police Troop 5 has issued a Gold Alert for 42-year-old Deborah Luther and her daughter, 3-year-old River Timmons of Delmar, Delaware. They were last seen at their residence on July 28, 2024, at approximately 7:00 p.m. going to Delmar Food Lion. Attempts to contact or locate them have been unsuccessful, and there is a concern for their safety and well-being.

    Deborah is described as a white female, approximately 5’4” tall, weighing approximately 150 pounds with brown eyes and brown hair. She was last seen wearing gray shorts, a black tank top, and flip-flops. Deborah is driving a gray 2009 Pontiac G6, Delaware registration 144535.

    State Police Detectives Arrest Dover Man for Shooting

    Delaware State Police have arrested 35-year-old Dennis Swain of Dover, Delaware, for a shooting incident that occurred yesterday in Dover.

    On July 27, 2024, at approximately 7:23 a.m., troopers responded to North Bay Drive in Dover for a report of a shooting. The preliminary investigation revealed that two construction workers were driving on Kitts Hummock Road when they stopped to assist a man who they thought needed help. While the workers were talking with the man, later identified as Dennis Swain, they began to argue, and Swain threatened to get a gun. The workers left and drove to a construction site on North Bay Drive when they saw Swain approach yelling, with a gun, and then shot at them. The victims were not hurt.

    Swain was arrested and taken to Troop 3, where he was charged with the crimes listed below, arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 7, and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on $25,000 cash bond.

    Troopers Arrest Smyrna Man for 7th DUI Offense in Townsend

    Delaware State Police arrested 52-year-old Linwood Sample of Smyrna, Delaware, for a 7th offense felony DUI early this morning.

    On July 28, 2024, at approximately 12:34 a.m., a trooper on patrol saw a gray Dodge Magnum with a fictitious Pennsylvania license plate weaving left and right while driving southbound on US Route 13 near Fieldsboro Road in Townsend. The trooper saw the car make additional traffic violations and pulled it over on Fieldsboro Road. The driver, identified as Linwood Sample, showed signs of impairment and the trooper administered Standardized Field Sobriety Tests. After the tests, Sample was arrested for driving under the influence. A computer check showed that Sample had six prior DUI-related convictions.

    Sample was taken to Troop 9 where he was charged with the crimes listed below, arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 11, and committed to Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on a $6,500 cash bond.

    The Delaware State Police are investigating a fatal motorcycle crash that occurred yesterday in Frederica that left one man dead.

    On July 27, 2024, at approximately 2:41 p.m., a Kawasaki ZR1 motorcycle was traveling southbound on Bay Road approaching Frederica Road at an apparent high rate of speed. The preliminary investigation revealed that the motorcycle entered exit 86 and failed to negotiate a curve as it attempted to enter Frederica Road southbound. The driver lost control and was ejected from the motorcycle.

    The driver of the Kawasaki, a 36-year-old man from Felton, Delaware, was pronounced dead at the scene. His name is being withheld until his family is notified.

    Frederica Road was closed for approximately 2 1/2 hours while the scene was investigated and cleared.

    State Police Detectives Searching for Bank Robbery and Carjacking Suspect

    The Delaware State Police are investigating a bank robbery and carjacking that occurred this morning at Franklin Mint Federal Credit Union in Bear.

    On July 27, 2024, at approximately 10:00 a.m., troopers responded to Franklin Mint Federal Credit Union, located at 1102 Quintilio Drive in Bear, for a robbery. The preliminary investigation revealed that a white male suspect, later identified as 53-year-old Timothy Halsey, entered the bank, presented a demand note and ransacked the property of bank employees. The employees complied, and Halsey fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash. After the fleeing the bank, Halsey ran across the parking lot near Aha South Indian Cuisine, located at 1247 Quintilio Drive, where he accosted a victim and stole a 2020 gray Honda Odyssey minivan Delaware registration PC340937 and fled the area. Detectives are working to locate Halsey and the minivan.

    Halsey is described as a white male, bald, goatee, with tattoos on his neck and legs.

    State Police Detectives Investigating Shots Fired at a Lincoln Residence

    The Delaware State Police are investigating a shooting that occurred last night in Lincoln.

    On July 25, 2024, at approximately 10:37 p.m., troopers responded to a home on the 10000 block of Cedar Creek Road in Lincoln for a report of shots fired. When troopers arrived, they learned that an unknown suspect fired several shots that hit an occupied house. There were three adults in the home at the time of the shooting. No one was injured, and the incident remains under investigation.

    Troop 4 Criminal Investigations Detectives continue to investigate this incident. Detectives are asking anyone who witnessed or has information regarding this case to contact Detective R.   • State Police Detectives Investigating Stabbing of a Child in Ellendale

    State Police Detectives Investigating Stabbing of a Child in Ellendale

    The Delaware State Police have arrested 40-year-old Darris McGlotten and his mother, 54-year-old Jamesneta McGlotten, both of Ellendale, for attempted murder and related charges after a stabbing that has left a child in critical condition.

    On July 25, 2024, at approximately 10:51 a.m., troopers responded to Bayhealth – Sussex Campus, for a possible stabbing. When troopers arrived, they learned that a 12-year-old victim had been brought to the hospital, by a family member, after being stabbed at a home on the 18000 block of Sharon’s Road in Ellendale. During the investigation, detectives learned that the suspect, Darris McGlotten, stabbed the victim in the chest while the victim was sleeping. Detectives also learned that Jamesneta McGlotten was aware that the victim had been seriously injured yet failed to seek medical or police assistance.

    Darris McGlotten was arrested and taken to Troop 4 where he was charged with the crimes listed below, arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2, and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on $420,000 cash bond.

    * Update – Suspect Arrested * Delaware State Police Investigating a Homicide in Ellendale

    The Delaware State Police have arrested 14-year-old Angelo Rodriguez of Millsboro, Delaware, for murder following a homicide that occurred in Ellendale last month.

    On June 9, 2024, at approximately 4:30 p.m., troopers responded to the 12000 block of North Old State Road, for a shooting. When troopers arrived, they learned that 17-year-old Ahniya Coverdale had been shot and taken to the Ellendale Fire Company. She was taken by ambulance to an area hospital, where she died. A second victim, a 19-year-old man, later responded to an area hospital with a gunshot wound to the leg and was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

    Through investigative means, the Delaware State Police Homicide Unit identified Angelo Rodriguez as the suspect. On July 22, 2024, he was indicted by a Sussex County Grand Jury.

    On Tuesday, July 23, 2024, detectives arrested Rodriguez, he was charged with the crimes listed below, arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 3, and committed to Stevenson House Detention Center on a $300,000 cash bond.

    Delaware State Police Detectives have arrested 24-year-old Timmarus Perry of Milton, Delaware for felony assault and gun charges following a shooting near Milton.

    On July 14, 2024, at approximately 7:49 p.m., troopers responded to Cool Spring Road near Fisher Road, for a Ford Explorer that crashed into a utility pole. When troopers arrived, they learned that the driver, a 27-year-old man from Laurel, Delaware, had been shot in the back. He was taken to an area hospital with critical injuries. The preliminary investigation revealed that the victim was driving on West Springside Drive when the suspect fired several rounds at the Explorer, hitting the victim. After the shooting, the Explorer drove away and hit a utility pole a short distance away.

    Through investigative means, detectives identified the suspect responsible for the shooting as 24-year-old Timmarus Perry of Milton, Delaware, and obtained a warrant for his arrest.

    On July 24, 2024, detectives arrested Perry. He was taken to Troop 4, charged with the crimes listed below, arraigned by Justice of Peace Court 2, and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on a $105,000 secured bond.

    On July 22, 2024, at approximately 4:47 a.m., troopers responded to the 14000 block of Collins Street in Milton for a report of a shooting. When troopers arrived, they found a 19-year-old man that had been shot in the upper torso and began life-saving efforts. The victim was taken by ambulance to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries.

    On July 23, 2024, the 19-year-old victim died as a result of injuries from the shooting. His name is being withheld until his family is notified.

    State Police Detectives Arrest Lewes Man for Multiple Felony Thefts

    Delaware State Police arrested 31-year-old William Rodenbaugh of Lewes, Delaware, for multiple felony thefts from vehicles that occurred over the last week in the Lewes area.

    Between July 8, 2024, and July 17, 2024, troopers investigated multiple thefts and trespassing of a similar nature in Angola and Lewes area. In each of the incidents, a white male suspect trespassed onto residential properties, where he went through unsecured vehicles and stole money and property. Detectives identified the suspect responsible for the thefts as William Rodenbaugh and obtained warrants for his arrest. Detectives were familiar with Rodenbaugh as part of an ongoing investigation of thefts and attempted thefts from vehicles in the Lewes area.

    On July 17, 2024, at approximately 4:40 a.m., a trooper on patrol in the Henlopen Landing neighborhood in Lewes, saw a man wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and carrying a backpack walking through the neighborhood. The trooper recognized the man as Rodenbaugh from previous investigations and attempted to contact him. Before the trooper could contact him, Rodenbaugh ran away, but was arrested a short time later following a foot chase.

    Rodenbaugh was taken to Troop 7 where he was charged with the crimes listed below, arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2 and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on a $1,500 secured bond.

    Troopers Arrest Maryland Man for Felony Shoplifting

    Delaware State Police arrested 37-year-old Glenn Haught of Bishopville, Maryland for felony shoplifting.

    On July 17, 2024, at approximately 2:11 p.m., troopers responded to Harris Teeter, located at 31221 Americana Parkway in Selbyville for a shoplifting. When troopers arrived, they were told that an unknown suspect had stolen over $5,000 of consumable merchandise from the store since June. Through investigative means, troopers identified Glenn Haught as the suspect. Later in the day, troopers responded back to Harris Teeter when Haught returned and was being detained by asset protection.

    Haught was arrested and taken to Troop 4, charged with the crime listed below, arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2, and released on a $2,000 unsecured bond.

    State Police Issue Gold Alert for Missing Lincoln Teenager

    Delaware State Police Troop 7 has issued a Gold Alert for 16-year-old Michael Williams of Lincoln, Delaware. He was last seen on July 16, 2024, near Benson Road in Lincoln. Attempts to contact or locate him have been unsuccessful, and there is a concern for his safety and well-being.

    He is described as a black male, approximately 6’00” tall, weighing about 140 pounds, with brown eyes and black hair. His clothing description is unknown, and he is possibly riding a dark blue Schwinn bicycle with big tires.

    Governor’s Task Force Arrests Dover Man for Drug Offenses and Resisting Arrest

    Delaware State Police arrested 34-year-old Jesus Torres of Dover, Delaware, on multiple drug and resisting arrest charges after a pursuit near Seaford yesterday.

    On July 16, 2024, at approximately 3:47 p.m., a member of the Sussex County Governor’s Task Force saw an Acura MDX fail to use its turn signal as it was turning onto German Road from Concord Pond Road. The Acura initially did not stop when the detective tried to pull it over. The Acura ultimately came to a stop at a dead end on Jewell Street, at which point the detective attempted to arrest the driver, later identified as Jesus Torres. Torres failed to comply with verbal commands and struck the detective several times as he physically resisted arrest. Torres was able to escape and fled on foot but was apprehended a short time later. After Torres was taken into custody, detectives searched the Acura and found approximately 21.95 grams of powder cocaine, and $932 in suspected drug dealing proceeds.

    Torres was taken to Troop 5, where he was charged with the crimes listed below, arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2, and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on a $23,501 cash bond.

    State Police Investigating Fatal Crash in Lewes

    Delaware State Police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred in Lewes last night.

    On July 15, 2024, at approximately 11:26 p.m., a BMW 328 was driving eastbound near the 16000 block of Gills Neck Road at an apparent high rate of speed. For reasons under investigation, the BMW left the road as it approached a sharp curve on Gills Neck Road. The BMW then continued onto a residential property, where it struck a wall/pillar, a tree, and a metal fence. After striking the tree, the BMW became engulfed in fire. The fire spread to the house causing extensive damage. The occupants of the house exited and were not injured.

    The driver and passenger were pronounced dead at the scene. Their names are being withheld until their family is notified.

    The roadway was closed for approximately three hours while the scene was investigated and cleared.

    Millsboro Daycare Employee Arrested for Child Abuse

    The Delaware State Police have arrested 47-year-old Veronica Ayres of Millsboro, Delaware for child abuse following an investigation at a Millsboro daycare.

    On June 3, 2024, Delaware State Police were notified by Division of Family Services of physical abuse of a child by a staff member at Bright Beginnings Daycare, located at 29735 John J. Williams Highway in Millsboro. Through the course of the investigation, detectives learned that on May 31, 2024, a staff member, identified as Veronica Ayres, struck a 2-year-old child in the face. Ayres’ employment was terminated the day of the incident.

    On July 9, 2024, Ayres turned herself in at Troop 4, where she was charged with the crime listed below, arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2, and released on her own recognizance.

    State Police Arrest Rehoboth Beach Man Following Pursuit in Kent County

    Delaware State Police arrested 38-year-old Joey Finney of Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, for multiple felony offenses following a pursuit yesterday near Felton.

    On July 9, 2024, at approximately 5:30 p.m. members of the Kent County Governor’s Task Force were on patrol on South Dupont Highway near Felton when they saw a black GMC Yukon driven by Joey Finney. Detectives recognized Finney from previous investigations, and knew he had active warrants for his arrest, which a computer check confirmed. Detectives attempted to pull the Yukon over in the parking lot of Royal Farms, located at 11460 South Dupont Highway but it sped away. During the pursuit, detectives saw Finney throw an object out of the Yukon while driving in a reckless manner on several Felton area streets and roads. The Yukon eventually came to a stop in the parking lot of Uncle Willie’s on Reeves Crossing Road after detectives successfully deployed stop sticks. Detectives found a cigarette pack that was thrown from the Yukon and discovered that it contained approximately 5.06 grams of powder cocaine and approximately .07 grams of heroin.

    Finney was arrested and taken to Troop 3, where he was charged with the crimes listed below, arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2, and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on a $18,900 cash bond.

    Mark is described as a white male, approximately 5’10” tall, weighing approximately 220 lbs., with brown/gray hair and blue eyes. He was last seen wearing a jeans, white t-shirt, and work boots.

    Troopers Arrest Seaford Man for DUI and Gun Offenses After Traffic Stop

    Delaware State Police arrested 22-year-old Myles Andrews of Seaford, Delaware, on multiple gun and traffic-related charges after a traffic stop in Blades.

    On July 9, 2024, at approximately 12:47 a.m., a trooper on patrol saw a Mercedes E350 driving on South Market Street in Blades with multiple equipment violations. The trooper pulled the car over and spoke to the driver, identified as Myles Andrews, who showed signs of impairment. After the trooper administered Standardized Field Sobriety Tests, he was arrested for driving under the influence. During a search of the car, troopers found a loaded .40 caliber handgun with an obliterated serial number, several rounds of ammunition, a digital scale, and other drug paraphernalia.

    Andrews was taken to Troop 5, where he was charged with the crimes listed below, arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 7, and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on a $25,302 secured bond.

    Delaware State Police Troop 3 is issuing a Gold Alert for 27-year-old Travis Smith from Dover, Delaware. Travis was last seen on July 9, 2024, in the area of Peachtree Run in the Dover. Attempts to locate him have been unsuccessful. There is a concern for his safety and well-being.

    Travis is described as a black male, approximately 5’05” tall, weighing approximately 150 lbs., with black hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a blue shirt and blue jeans. He walks with a limp.

    Delaware State Police detectives have arrested 21-year-old Marcus Yunas of Ellendale, Delaware, for multiple felony charges following a shooting in Ellendale in May.

    On May 8, 2024, at approximately 12:31 a.m., troopers responded to a home on South Old State Road in Ellendale for a disorderly incident. While responding, troopers were told that shots had been fired at the same location. When troopers arrived, they found a 20-year-old woman had been shot in the leg. During the investigation, they learned a gray SUV stopped in the road, the occupants argued with people in the backyard of the house and fired shots at them, hitting the woman and the house. Troopers located the SUV and the suspects a short time later. The suspects, identified as Isaiah Yunas, and two 17-year-olds were arrested. Detectives worked to locate a fourth suspect, identified as 21-year-old Marcus Yunas.

    On June 27,2024, Yunas was arrested in Maryland and on July 8, 2024, he was extradited to Delaware. He was taken to Troop 4, charged with the crimes listed below, arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2, and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on a $92,100 cash bond.

    State Police Detectives Arrest Lewes Man for Felony Theft

    Delaware State Police have arrested 31-year-old William Rodenbaugh of Lewes, Delaware for felony theft and attempted theft from vehicles in the Angola area.

    On June 11, 2024, troopers began investigating a theft and attempted theft from vehicles in the Angola area near Lewes. During the investigation, troopers learned that an unknown suspect had gone through vehicles in the neighborhoods of Angola Beach and Estates, Bayridge Crossing, and The Cove between June 11 and June 14 where money had been stolen. Troopers also learned that the suspect had trespassed on several properties in those neighborhoods. Through investigative means, detectives identified William Rodenbaugh as the suspect and obtained a warrant for his arrest.

    On July 5, 2024, detectives arrested Rodenbaugh. He was taken to Troop 4, charged with the crimes listed below, arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2, and released on a $5,000 unsecured bond. However, he was committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on an existing capias warrant.

    Troopers Arrest Milton Woman in Stolen Acura Following Pursuit

    Delaware State Police arrested 30-year-old Jenifer Hirl of Milton, Delaware, for multiple offenses following a pursuit in a stolen Acura yesterday near Milton.

    On July 4, 2024, at approximately 5:19 p.m. troopers were notified of a stolen Acura ATL from New Jersey that was being electronically tracked, driving southbound on Coastal Highway near Milton. Troopers found the car on West Randor Drive in Milton and tried to pull it over, but it did not stop. During the pursuit, the Acura drove on several area streets until it returned to West Randor Drive and stopped. The driver, identified as Jenifer Hirl, attempted to walk away but was quickly arrested after a brief struggle. Hirl was taken to Troop 7 and throughout their contact, troopers saw signs of impairment and administered Standardized Field Sobriety Tests.

    At Troop 7, Hirl was charged with the crimes listed below, arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 7, and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on a $7,900 cash bond.

    The Delaware State Police have arrested 18-year-old Tyler Morrison of Delmar, Delaware for a shooting that occurred in Seaford in May.

    On May 29, 2024, at approximately 6:21 p.m., troopers responded to a home on the 26000 block of Kelly Circle in Seaford for a report of a shooting. When troopers arrived, they learned that two unknown suspects fired several rounds at an occupied house and injured a 15-year-old girl. Through investigative means, detectives identified Lukas and Tyler Morrison as the suspects in the shooting. On May 31, 2024, detectives arrested Lukas and continued their search for Tyler.

    On July 3, 2024, Tyler Morrison was arrested and taken to Troop 5, where he was charged with the crimes listed below, arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2, and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on a $131,500 cash bond.

    Troopers Arrest Hartly Man for Reckless Endangering After DUI Crash

    Delaware State Police arrested 26-year-old Steven Wolinski of Hartly, Delaware, for several felony offenses following a crash into a Hartly residence yesterday.

    On July 2, 2024, at approximately 6:05 p.m., troopers responded to a report of a Chevrolet Silverado that crashed into an occupied house on the 4000 block of Arthursville Road in Hartly. The driver of the Silverado ran away from the crash scene before troopers arrived. After troopers arrived, they searched the area and found the driver, later identified as Steven Wolinksi. He was arrested and taken to Troop 3. Throughout their contact with Wolinksi, troopers saw multiple signs of impairment and he refused to perform field tests. During the investigation, troopers searched the Silverado and found a loaded firearm and open bottles of alcoholic beverages in the truck. No one was injured as a result of the crash.

    At Troop 3, Wolinski was charged with the crimes listed below, arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 7, and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on a $76,102 secured bond.

    Delaware State Police continue to investigate a shooting that occurred at the Big Chill Surf Cantina parking lot in Rehoboth. Through investigative means, detectives identified the suspect responsible for the shooting as 28-year-old Jonathan Blackwell of Milford, Delaware and obtained a warrant for his arrest for several felony offenses.

    On June 30, 2024, Blackwell was taken into custody in Pennsylvania. Upon extradition to Delaware, he will be charged with the following crimes:

    • Assault 1st Degree (Felony)
    • Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony (Felony)
    • Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon – Firearm (Felony)

    The Delaware State Police Troop 4 Criminal Investigations Unit continues to investigate this incident.     Detectives Investigating Robbery of New Castle Motel

    The Delaware State Police are investigating a robbery that occurred early this morning at Red Roof Inn and Suites in New Castle.

    On July 2, 2024, at approximately 3:18 a.m., troopers responded to an armed robbery at Red Roof Inn and Suites, located at 1612 North Dupont Highway in New Castle. The preliminary investigation revealed that an unknown black male and unknown black female suspects entered the business and demanded money. The male suspect then jumped over the counter and threatened the desk clerk with a knife. The clerk complied and the suspects ran away. No one was hurt during the incident.

    The male suspect was last seen wearing all black clothing and the female was last seen wearing a white t-shirt, black mask, and a hat.

    Delaware State Police Troop 2 continues to investigate this robbery. Troopers are asking anyone with information about this case to contact Det. D. Armstrong by calling (302) 365-8440.
