    Detectives Investigating Shots Fired at a Hartly Residence

    The Delaware State Police are investigating a shooting that occurred early this morning in Hartly.

    On July 2, 2024, at approximately 4:00 a.m., troopers responded to a residence on the 2000 block of Slaughter Station Road in Hartly for a report of shots fired. The preliminary investigation revealed that an unknown suspect fired several rounds at the house from an unknown passing vehicle. Troopers recovered numerous shell casings at the scene. There were two adults in the home at the time of the shooting. No one was injured, and the motive behind the incident remains under investigation.

    Troop 3 Criminal Investigations Unit continues to investigate this incident. Detectives are asking anyone who witnessed or has information regarding this case to contact Detective C.     Troopers Arrest Man for Harassment in Stolen Truck at Rehoboth Mall

    Delaware State Police arrested 38-year-old Jordan Newberry of Delmar, Delaware, for receiving stolen property and harassment following a suspicious person investigation yesterday at Rehoboth Mall.

    On June 30, 2024, at approximately 12:35 p.m., a trooper responded to Walmart, located at 18922 Rehoboth Mall Boulevard in Rehoboth Beach, for a report of a suspicious person. When the trooper arrived, he learned that an unknown male suspect had been following the victim around the store, which caused her to feel alarm. After the victim exited the store, the suspect got into a white GMC Sierra and continued to follow while she was in the parking lot. During the investigation, the victim saw the suspect near the Walmart, and notified the trooper. The trooper contacted the suspect, later identified as Jordan Newberry, at the Grocery Outlet in Rehoboth Mall, and arrested him. The trooper located the suspect’s white GMC Sierra with Maryland registration in the parking lot, and discovered it was reported stolen to the Salisbury Police Department in Maryland on June 29, 2024.

    Newberry was taken to Troop 7, where he was charged with the crimes listed below, arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 3, and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on a $6,000 cash bond.

    The Delaware State Police are investigating a shooting that occurred yesterday in Harrington.

    On June 30, 2024, at approximately 6:14 p.m., troopers responded to a residence on Yellow Wood Drive in Harrington for a report that a house had been hit by gunfire. The preliminary investigation revealed that an unknown suspect fired a shot from an unknown location and hit the house. There were two adults and two children in the home at the time of the shooting. No one was injured.

    Troop 3 Criminal Investigations Unit continues to investigate this incident. Detectives are asking anyone who witnessed or has information regarding this case to contact Detective S.     State Police Issue Gold Alert for Missing New Castle Teenager

    Delaware State Police Troop 2 is issuing a Gold Alert for 17-year-old Robert Newton of New Castle, Delaware. Robert was last seen on June 21, 2024. Attempts to locate him have been unsuccessful. There is a concern for his safety and well-being.

    Robert is described as a white male, approximately 5’07” tall, weighing approximately 160 pounds with blue eyes and brown hair. He was last seen wearing a yellow t-shirt, black shorts with white lettering, and white sneakers. He is possibly enroute to the City of Wilmington.

    State Police Investigating Fatal Pedestrian Crash Near Milton

    The Delaware State Police are investigating a fatal pedestrian crash that occurred early this morning near Milton that left one woman dead.

    On June 21, 2024, at approximately 12:15 a.m., a Nissan Altima was driving northbound in the right lane on Coastal Highway, north of Oyster Rocks Road. At the same time, a Dodge Charger was stopped on the shoulder of Coastal Highway northbound, north of Oyster Rocks Road. The preliminary investigation revealed that a passenger of the Charger was out of the car, looking for her cell phone. While she was looking for her cell phone, she stepped in the roadway, into the Nissan’s path of travel. As a result, the front of the Nissan hit the pedestrian.

    The pedestrian, an 18-year-old woman from Linwood, Pennsylvania, was pronounced dead at the scene. Her name is being withheld until her family is notified.

    The driver of the Nissan, a 34-year-old woman from Dover, Delaware, was not injured.

    The roadway was closed for approximately 4 hours while the scene was investigated and cleared.

    Troopers Arrest Smyrna Man for 7th Offense DUI Following an Injury Crash

    Delaware State Police arrested 53-year-old Paul Rowan of Smyrna, Delaware, for 7th offense felony DUI following an injury crash in Hartly yesterday afternoon.

    On June 18, 2024, at approximately 12:19 p.m., troopers responded to an overturned Isuzu Rodeo on the 2000 block of Slaughter Station Road in Hartly. Before troopers arrived, they were told that the driver and passenger of the Isuzu walked away from the crash. When troopers arrived, they located the driver, later identified as Paul Rowan, and passenger, a 45-year-old woman, walking away from the crash scene. Rowan and the passenger were taken to an area hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. During a search of the Isuzu, troopers found drug paraphernalia.

    When a trooper spoke to Rowan at the hospital, he showed signs of impairment and administered Standardized Field Sobriety Tests. After the tests, Rowan was arrested for driving under the influence and a computer check showed that he had six prior DUI-related convictions.

    After he was released from the hospital, Rowan was taken to Troop 3, where he was charged with the crimes listed below, arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2, and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on a $23,750 cash bond.

    • 7th Offense DUI (Felony)
    • 1st Degree Vehicular Assault (Felony)
    • Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
    • Leaving the Scene of a Collision Resulting in Injury
    • Failure to Report a Collision Involving Alcohol or Drugs

    The Delaware State Police are investigating an armed robbery that occurred last night in Dover.

    On June 17, 2024, at approximately 9:42 p.m., troopers responded to an armed robbery on South State Street near Cool Springs Drive in Dover. The preliminary investigation revealed that a 16-year-old victim was riding his bike on South State Street when he was approached by an unknown male suspect. The suspect pushed the victim off his bike, pointed a gun at him, and took his property. The suspect fled the area in an unknown vehicle. The victim was not hurt during the incident.

    Troopers Arrest Middletown Man for Multiple Felony Charges Following Pursuit

    Delaware State Police arrested 24-year-old Jacob Singleton of Middletown, Delaware, for multiple felony offenses following a pursuit in Newark on Sunday.

    On June 16, 2024, at approximately 2:23 p.m., a trooper assisting a disabled motorist on Salem Church Road near East Chestnut Hill Road observed a black Mazda run a red light. With emergency lights already activated, the trooper attempted to stop the vehicle, but it sped away, leading to a pursuit. The Mazda drove recklessly through several streets in Newark, prompting the trooper to discontinue the pursuit for the safety of other motorists.

    Shortly thereafter, troopers patrolling the area located the Mazda parked in a driveway on Montrose Drive, dangerously close to an occupied residence. A resident flagged down the troopers and reported that the driver, later identified as Jacob Singleton, had unlawfully entered their home and was hiding in the bathroom.

    Troopers found Singleton in the bathroom, where he resisted arrest, resulting in injuries to one of the troopers. Singleton was subsequently taken into custody without further incident. The injured trooper was treated for non-life-threatening injuries at a nearby hospital and later released.

    Singleton was taken to Troop 6, charged with the crimes listed below, arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 11, and committed to Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on a $13,300 cash bond.

    • Assault 2nd on Law Enforcement Officer Causing Injury (Felony)
    • Reckless Endangering 1st Degree (Felony) – 3 counts
    • Burglary  (Felony)
    • Resisting Arrest with Force Causing Injury to Peace Officer (Felony)

    Delaware State Police are asking for witnesses to a shooting that occurred last night in Dover.

    On June 16, 2024, at approximately 11:20 p.m., troopers responded to a shooting on Palmer Road in Dover. When troopers arrived, they found a 36-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound and gave medical aid. The victim was transported to an area hospital with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the thigh. The preliminary investigation revealed that the victim was walking on Palmer Road when an unknown suspect shot him from an unknown location.

    Delaware State Police Troop 3 Criminal Investigations Unit is continuing its investigation and urges anyone who may have witnessed the shooting or has relevant information to contact Detective M.     Governor’s Task Force Arrests Blades Man Following Probation & Parole Search

    The Delaware State Police have arrested 46-year-old Carlo Munoz-Barreto of Blades, Delaware on several gun and drug charges following an investigation that began yesterday morning.

    On June 13, 2024, at approximately 11:37 a.m., Sussex County Governor’s Task Force was requested by Probation & Parole to assist while they conducted an administrative search at probationer Carlo Munoz-Barreto’s residence on East Third Street in Blades. During the search of the residence, probation officers located the following:

    • Stolen 9mm handgun
    • Assorted handgun ammunition
    • Approximately 43.31 grams of cocaine
    • Approximately 0.455 grams of heroin
    • 45 Gabapentin pills
    • 18 Tramadol pills
    • Digital scales and drug paraphernalia
    • $814.00

    Munoz-Barreto was taken to Troop 4, where he was charged with the crimes listed below, arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 3, and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on a $120,500 cash bond.

    • Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony (Felony)
    • Possession with Intent to Deliver a Controlled Substance, Tier 3 (Felony)
    • Possession of a Controlled Substance, Tier 3 (Felony)
    • Possession of a Firearm or Ammunition by a Person Prohibited (Felony) – 4 counts

    Troopers Arrest Seaford Man for Aggravated Menacing

    Delaware State Police arrested 78-year-old Delbert Watkins of Seaford, Delaware, for aggravated menacing and other charges yesterday.

    On June 12, 2024, at approximately 7:42 p.m., troopers responded to an aggravated menacing on Squirrel Lane in Seaford. When troopers arrived, they learned that the victim was involved in an argument with the suspect, identified as Delbert Wilkins. During the argument, Watkins pointed a gun at the victim and threatened to shoot him. Two children were with the victim when the incident happened, and no one was hurt.

    Watkins was arrested and taken to Troop 5, where he was charged with crimes listed below, arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 3, and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on a $17,000 secured bond.

    Troopers Arrest Viola Man in Stolen GMC Following Pursuit

    Delaware State Police arrested 32-year-old Jacob McCulley of Viola, Delaware, for multiple offenses following a pursuit in a stolen GMC Terrain last night in Dover.

    On June 12, 2024, at approximately 10:17 p.m. a trooper on patrol on Route 13 near POW/MIA Parkway, saw a black GMC Terrain fail to stop at a stop sign. The trooper learned that the GMC was reported stolen and tried to pull it over, but it sped away northbound. During the pursuit, the GMC drove in a reckless manner on several Dover area streets and roads until it hit a marked Dover Police Department Tahoe on Wyoming Avenue and New Burton Road. After hitting the police Tahoe, the driver, identified as Jacob McCulley, fled on foot, but was quickly arrested. After a search of McCulley and the GMC, troopers found heroin and drug paraphernalia. No one was injured during the incident.

    McCulley was taken to Troop 3, where he was charged with the crimes listed below, arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 7, and committed to Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on a $5,458 secured bond.

    State Police Detectives Investigating a Robbery and Shots Fired in Newark

    The Delaware State Police are investigating a robbery and shots fired that occurred yesterday in Newark.

    On June 12, 2024, at approximately 11:31 a.m., troopers responded to a report of shots fired at Salem Village Square Shopping Center. When troopers arrived, they learned that three unknown suspects assaulted and robbed an unknown male victim inside The Smoke Shop, located at 13 Salem Village Square. After the robbery, the suspects fled in a white car and the victim retrieved a gun from his car. The victim fired several shots at the white car as it was leaving the parking lot. The victim fled the scene a short time later. Detectives are working to identify and locate everyone involved.

    Troop 2 Robbery Unit continues to investigate this incident. Detectives are asking anyone who witnessed or has information regarding this case to contact Detective D.     Detectives Arrest Three Men Following Several-Month Long Drug Investigation in Kent County

    Delaware State Police arrested 19-year-old Algahgaa Ata, 23-year-old Maddyan Ata, and 52-year-old Khaled Ata, all of Magnolia, Delaware, on multiple drug dealing charges concluding a several-month long drug investigation in Kent County.

    Beginning in November of 2023, detectives from the Kent County Drug Unit and Delaware Alcohol and Tobacco Enforcement (DATE) began investigating Ali Baba Smoke Shop, located at 2131 South Dupont Highway, Ali Baba 2 Smoke Shop, located at 1534 South Governors Avenue, both in Dover, and Liberty Happy Gas Station, located at 50 West Birdie Lane in Magnolia for suspected large-scale distribution of drugs. Throughout the investigation, detectives identified Algahgaa Ata, Maddyan Ata, and Khaled Ata, as the suspects and obtained warrants for their arrest.

    On June 11, 2024, detectives conducted a traffic stop near Magnolia and arrested M. Ata. During a search of his car, detectives found a loaded handgun, approximately 17 grams of marijuana, and $5,915 in suspected drug proceeds.

    On June 11, 2024, detectives executed search warrants at the businesses and a residence on Ponderosa Drive in Magnolia. During the search, detectives located A. Ata and K. Ata at Liberty Happy Gas Station and took them into custody. During the search of the properties, detectives discovered approximately 1025.32 grams of marijuana and THC products, two handguns and ammunition, drug paraphernalia, and $158,523 in suspected drug proceeds.

    Algahgaa Ata was arrested and taken to Troop 3, where he was charged with the crimes listed below, arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2, and released on $2,000 unsecured bond.

    Delaware State Police have extradited 19-year-old Malachi Waters to Delaware for murder, following a homicide that occurred last week.

    On June 4, 2024, at approximately 10:47 a.m., Millsboro Police Department and Delaware State Police responded to a shooting on Saint Thomas Boulevard in the town limits of Millsboro. When officers arrived, they found 26-year-old Jordaan Brummell suffering from a gunshot wound and began life-saving efforts. He was taken to an area hospital where he died.

    A preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect, identified as Malachi Waters, approached the victim with a gun and started shooting, hitting the victim. After shots were fired, Waters fled the scene in a car. A short time later, detectives saw Waters’ car and with the assistance Delaware State Police Special Operations Response Team, troopers stopped the car in Delmar near the Delaware-Maryland line where he fled, and was quickly apprehended in Delmar, Maryland.

    On June 10,2024, Waters was extradited to Delaware. He was taken to Troop 4, charged with the crimes listed below, arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2, and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on a $1,060,000 cash bond.

    Delaware State Police Investigating Homicide in Ellendale

    Delaware State Police are investigating a homicide that occurred in Ellendale yesterday afternoon.

    On June 9, 2024, at approximately 4:30 p.m., troopers responded to the Ellendale Community Center, located at 12564 North Old State Road, for a shooting. When troopers arrived, they learned that a 17-year-old female had been shot and taken to the Ellendale Fire Company. The victim was taken by ambulance to an area hospital, where she died. Her name is being withheld until her family is notified. A second victim, a 19-year-old man, later responded to an area hospital with a gunshot wound to the leg and was being treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

    The preliminary investigation revealed that a fight broke out between several people at the community center when an unknown suspect pulled a gun and fired shots into the crowd hitting the two victims.

    Dover Airman Arrested for Continuous Sexual Abuse of a Child

    Delaware State Police arrested 20-year-old Amir Hughes of Dover, Delaware on rape charges resulting from the continuous sexual abuse of a child.

    In April 2024, Delaware State Police Detectives began investigating a sexual relationship between Amir Hughes, an airman stationed at Dover Air Force Base, and a 14-year-old girl. During the investigation, detectives learned that Hughes was involved in an on-going sexual relationship with the juvenile.

    On 5/30/24, Hughes was arrested and taken to Troop 3, where he was charged with the crimes listed below, arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2, and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on a $600,000 cash bond.

When officers arrived, they found a 26-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound and began life-saving efforts. The victim was taken to an area hospital where he died.     Due to the nature of the investigation, the Millsboro Police Department requested that the Delaware State Police Homicide Unit assume the investigation. A preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect, identified as Malachi Waters, approached the victim with a gun and started shooting, hitting the victim. After shots were fired, Waters fled the scene in a car.

    A short time later, detectives saw the suspect’s car and with the assistance Delaware State Police Special Operations Response Team, troopers stopped the car in Delmar near the Delaware-Maryland line where the suspect fled, and was quickly apprehended in Delmar, Maryland.

    Upon extradition to Delaware, he will be charged with the following crimes:

    • Murder 1st Degree (Felony)
    • Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony (Felony)

    The Delaware State Police have arrested 26-year-old Tyja Best of Ellendale, Delaware, for murder following a homicide that occurred Saturday night in Ellendale.

    On June 1, 2024, at approximately 10:47 p.m., troopers were called to a residence on the 13000 block of South Old State Road in Ellendale for a report of a shooting. When troopers arrived, they found 27-year-old Brian Halliday, with a gunshot wound to the chest in the front yard and began life-saving efforts. He was taken to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead.

    The preliminary investigation revealed that during an altercation between the victim and a female, the female produced a gun and shot him in the chest. The suspect fled the scene in an unknown direction. Through investigative means, the Delaware State Police Homicide Unit identified Tyja Best as the suspect, and on June 4, 2024, Delaware State Police Detectives and Special Operations Response Team took Best into custody without incident.

    Best was taken to Troop 5 where she was charged with the crimes listed below, arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 3, and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on $1,060,000 cash bond.

    Troopers Arrest Man Following Road Rage Incident in Lewes

    Delaware State Police arrested 27-year-old Tyler Draine of Rehoboth Beach, for aggravated menacing and related charges following a road rage incident that occurred Saturday afternoon in Lewes.

    On June 1, 2024, at approximately 5:41 p.m., troopers responded to the area of Coastal Highway and Wescoats Road for a road rage incident involving a knife. The investigation revealed that a white male suspect operating a moped came to a stop in front of a car at a red light on Coastal Highway. The suspect approached the car and threatened to harm the two occupants while holding a knife. As the victims called 9-1-1, the suspect got back on the moped and fled southbound on Coastal Highway. A short time later, a trooper observed a white male matching the description of the suspect as he was driving southbound near Airport Road. The trooper pulled the moped over, and spoke to the driver, later identified as Tyler Draine. During the traffic stop, the trooper attempted to arrest Draine however, he failed to follow verbal commands and ran across Coastal Highway in front of multiple cars. After a brief foot pursuit, Draine was arrested, and a search of his person led to the discovery of a pocketknife.

    Draine was taken to Troop 7 where he was charged with the crimes listed below, arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 3, and released on a $6,202 unsecured bond.

    State Police Investigating Homicide in Long Neck

    The Delaware State Police have arrested 25-year-old Christopher Moran, of Millsboro, Delaware, for the murder of his stepfather, Dennis Harmon.

    On June 2, 2024, at approximately 10.33 p.m., troopers responded to the 25000 block of Redwing Lane in the Rehoboth Shores for a stabbing. When troopers arrived, they found 61-year-old Dennis Harmon suffering from stab wounds in a front yard and began life-saving efforts. He was pronounced dead at the scene.  The preliminary investigation revealed that during a fight, Moran stabbed Harmon multiple times and fled the scene. Troopers found Moran walking a short time later in the Rehoboth Shores and took him into custody without incident.

    Moran was arrested and taken to Troop 7, where he was charged with the crimes listed below, arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2, and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on $1,180,000 cash bond.

    Delaware State Police are investigating a homicide that occurred in Laurel early this morning.

    On June 3, 2024, at approximately 1:22 a.m., the Laurel Police Department and Delaware State Police responded to a large crowd with shots fired at Little Creek Apartments, located in the town limits of Laurel. When officers arrived on the scene, they found a 23-year-old man behind the 400-building suffering from gunshot wounds. The victim was taken to an area hospital where he died. His name is being withheld until his family is notified. A second victim, a 26-year-old man, later responded to an area hospital with a gunshot wound where he was being treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

    The Laurel Police Department requested the Delaware State Police Homicide Unit to take over the investigation due to its nature. According to a preliminary investigation, an unknown suspect or suspects fired multiple shots where the crowd had gathered hitting the two victims, several cars, and buildings.

    The Delaware State Police have arrested 20-year-old Lukas Morrison of Georgetown, Delaware for a shooting that occurred in Seaford on Wednesday.

    On May 29, 2024, at approximately 6:21 p.m., troopers responded to a home on the 26000 block of Kelly Circle in Seaford for a report of a shooting. When troopers arrived, they learned that two unknown suspects fired several rounds at an occupied house and injured a 15-year-old girl. She was transported to an area hospital with a gunshot wound to her foot. Through investigative means, detectives identified Lukas and Tyler Morrison as the suspects in the shooting. On May 31, 2024, detectives arrested Lukas and continue to search for Tyler.

    Lukas Morrison was arrested at Troop 4, charged with the crimes listed below, arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2, and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on $130,000 cash bond.

    State Police Investigating Fatal Motorcycle Crash in Smyrna

    Delaware State Police are investigating a fatal motorcycle crash that occurred in Smyrna on Thursday afternoon.

    On May 30, 2024, at approximately 1:12 p.m., a Jeep Cherokee was eastbound on Sweet Corn Lane, stopped for the stop sign at southbound, South Dupont Boulevard. At the same time, a Harley Davidson motorcycle was driving southbound on South Dupont Boulevard in the left lane, approaching Sweet Corn Lane. The preliminary investigation revealed that the Jeep pulled away from the stop sign to travel across South Dupont Boulevard into the path of the motorcycle, as a result, the front of the motorcycle hit the driver’s side of the Jeep.

    The driver of the Jeep, a 69-year-old man and a passenger, a 69-year-old woman, both of Smyrna were taken to an area hospital for minor injuries.

    The driver of the Harley Davidson motorcycle, a 59-year-old man from Dover, was pronounced dead at the scene. His name is being withheld until his family is notified.

    The roadway was closed for approximately three hours while the scene was investigated and cleared.

    State Police Investigating Two-Vehicle Fatal Crash near Milton

    Delaware State Police are investigating a two-vehicle fatal crash that occurred near Milton on Thursday afternoon.

    On May 30, 2024, at approximately 2:28 p.m., a Mercedes E-Class was driving southbound on Harbeson Road slowing down to turn left onto Carpenter Road. At the same time, a Toyota RAV-4 was driving northbound on Harbeson Road approaching Carpenter Road. For reasons under investigation, the Mercedes turned directly in front of the RAV-4 and as a result, the front of the Mercedes hit the front of the RAV-4.

    The driver of the Mercedes, a 62-year-old woman from Camden, Delaware, was taken to an area hospital with minor injuries. A passenger, a 12-year-old child, was also taken to an area hospital for minor injuries.

    The driver of the Toyota, a 65-year-old woman from Harbeson, Delaware, was taken to an area hospital where she died. Her name is being withheld until her family is notified. Two passengers, a 44-year-old woman and a 4-year-old child, were taken to an area hospital with serious injuries.

    The roadway was closed for approximately three hours while the scene was investigated and cleared.

    The Delaware State Police are investigating a shooting that occurred yesterday in Seaford.

    On May 29, 2024, at approximately 6:21 p.m., troopers responded to a home on the 26000 block of Kelly Circle in Seaford for a report of a shooting. When troopers arrived, they learned that two unknown suspects fired several rounds at an occupied house and injured a 15-year-old girl. She was transported to an area hospital with a gunshot wound to her foot. There were no other injuries reported.

    The Delaware State Police are investigating a home invasion that occurred early this morning in Laurel.

    On May 29, 2024, at approximately 6:07 a.m., troopers responded to a house on the 32000 block of Old Stage Road, for a home invasion. When troopers arrived, they learned that two suspects entered the house, tied the victim up, and assaulted him with what appeared to be a gun, that caused minor injuries. The suspects ran from the house with an undisclosed amount of money and property. The victim was able to get to the front door and call to a passing car for help.

    The description of the suspects is unknown and surveillance footage is not available at this time.

    Detectives Investigating Shots Fired at a Dover Residence

    The Delaware State Police are investigating a shooting that occurred yesterday in a neighborhood in Dover.

    On May 28, 2024, at approximately 5:08 p.m., troopers responded to a residence on North Governor’s Boulevard for a report that a house had been hit by gunfire. The preliminary investigation revealed that sometime during the early morning hours, the home had been hit gunfire several times. Troopers recovered numerous shell casings at the scene.

    There were two adults and three children in the home at the time of the shooting. No one was injured, and the motive behind the incident remains unclear. A suspect description is unknown at this time.

    The Delaware State Police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred early this morning near Woodside that left one man dead.

    On May 29, 2024, at approximately 2:20 a.m., a Freightliner tractor and trailer was driving southbound on South Dupont Highway, in the right lane, south of Barney Jenkins Road. At the same time, a GMC T-Series box truck was also driving southbound, in the right lane, behind the Freightliner. The preliminary investigation revealed that the Freightliner was slowing to make a right turn into a business when the front of the GMC hit the back of the trailer.

    The unrestrained driver of the GMC, a 33-year-old man from Owings Mills, Maryland, was pronounced dead at the scene. His name is being withheld until his family is notified. The driver of the Freightliner, a 51-year-old man from Greensboro, North Carolina was not injured.

    The roadway was closed for approximately 5 hours while the scene was investigated and cleared.

    On May 28, 2024, at approximately 10:25 p.m., a Honda Accord was driving northbound on Frankford School Road south of Thatcher Street. As the Honda exited a curve, the driver lost control of the car causing it to leave the east side of the road, drive through grass, hit a fence, and into a ditch causing it to overturn.

    The unrestrained driver, a 45-year-old man from Frankford, was ejected from the car. He was taken to an area hospital where he died. His name is being withheld until his family is notified.

    The roadway was closed for approximately three hours while the scene was investigated and cleared.

    State Police Detectives Arrest New York Man for Felony Theft in Joint Investigation with FBI

    Delaware State Police detectives arrested 35-year-old Rakeshkumar Patel of Flushing, New York, for felony theft following a joint financial crimes investigation with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).

    In February of 2024, a Millsboro woman contacted Delaware State Police to report that she was the victim of a scam. During a joint investigation with the FBI, detectives learned that starting in October of 2023, a suspect had impersonated a federal agent and convinced the victim that she needed to convert money to gold. He told her to give it to him for transport to the U.S. Treasury for safe keeping. Through investigative means, detectives identified Rakeshkumar Patel as one of the suspects involved in the scam. The joint investigation is ongoing as detectives are working to identify other suspects.

    On May 20, 2024, Patel was arrested near Millsboro and taken to Troop 4. He was charged with the crimes listed below, arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2, and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on a $103,000 cash bond.

    Troopers Arrest Bridgeville Man for Felony DUI and Drug Offenses

    Delaware State Police arrested 32-year-old Robert Layton of Bridgeville, Delaware, for felony DUI and drug offenses yesterday morning.

    On May 22, 2024, at approximately 11:25 a.m., troopers on patrol saw a maroon Ford pick-up weaving left and right while driving southbound on Coverdale Road near Seaford. Troopers saw the driver make additional traffic violations and pulled the truck over. The driver, identified as Robert Layton, showed signs of impairment and troopers also saw that there was a child in the truck. The troopers administered Standardized Field Sobriety Tests and after the tests, Layton was arrested for driving under the influence. A computer check showed that he had two prior DUI-related convictions. During a search of Layton’s truck, troopers found approximately 2.9 grams of crack-cocaine, approximately 1.015 grams of suspected heroin, and approximately 1.15 grams of suspected powder cocaine.

    Layton was taken to Troop 5, where he was charged with the crimes listed below, arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2, and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on a $15,003 secured bond.

    On May 21, 2024, at approximately 4:01 p.m., a Freightliner tractor and trailer was driving westbound on Vernon Road approaching Fox Hunters Road. At the same time, a Honda CB1 motorcycle was driving eastbound on Vernon Road approaching Fox Hunters Road. The preliminary investigation revealed that the Freightliner had almost completed a left turn onto Fox Hunters Road when the front of the Honda hit the back part of the trailer. As a result, the driver was ejected, and the motorcycle came to rest on the south side of the road.

    The driver of the motorcycle, a 31-year-old man from Denton, Maryland, was pronounced dead at the scene. His name is being withheld until his family is notified. The driver of the Freightliner, a 58-year-old man from Laurel, Delaware, was not injured.

    The roadway was closed for approximately 3 hours while the scene was investigated and cleared.

    Search Warrant in Hartly Leads to Arrests for Drug Offenses

    The Delaware State Police arrested 32-year-old Joshua Bryant and 58-year-old Shawn Haley, both of Hartly, Delaware, for felony drug charges following a search warrant at a Hartly residence.

    On May 16, 2024, members of the Kent County Drug Unit and Delaware State Police Special Operations Response Team, executed a search warrant at a house on the 2000 block of Slaughter Station Road in Hartly. The search warrant was obtained following a two-month-long investigation of Bryant and the distribution of illegal narcotics from the property. Detectives arrested Bryant and Haley, the property owner, at the house. During the search of the house, they discovered the following items:

    • Approximately 10.38 grams of Crystal Methamphetamines
    • Firearm ammunition
    • Drug paraphernalia
    • Digital scale

    Bryant was taken to Troop 3, where he was charged with the crimes listed below, arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2, and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on a $22,500 secured bond.

    Delaware State Police Detectives Arrest New York Man for Fraudulent Credit Card Purchases

    Delaware State Police arrested 29-year-old Michael Lacey of Valley Stream, New York, for making fraudulent credit card purchases.

    On May 13, 2023, troopers responded to Coastal Wine and Spirits, located at 12141 Coastal Highway in Milton for a theft. Troopers learned that two men used a fake credit card to purchase over $3,800 of merchandise. On May 17, 2023, troopers responded to Hickman’s Discount Liquors, located at 30447 Cedar Neck Road in Ocean View, and learned that a man used a fake credit card to purchase over $6,600 of merchandise. Through investigative means, detectives identified Michael Lacey as one of the suspects involved in the thefts, and warrant was obtained for his arrest.

    On May 13, 2024, Lacey was extradited to Delaware from New Jersey. He was taken to Troop 2, where he was charged with the crimes listed below, arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2, and committed to Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $11,000 secured bond.

    Troopers Arrest Smyrna Man for Felony Shoplifting in Two Counties

    Delaware State Police arrested 44-year-old Augustine Haymond of Smyrna, Delaware for felony shoplifting and related charges last night.

    On May 13, 2024, at approximately 7:21 p.m., troopers responded to Lowe’s, located at 20364 Plantations Road in Lewes, for a shoplifting. Before troopers arrived, they were told that a man was in the store stealing merchandise and left on foot. Store employees gave a description of the suspect and troopers found him at the bus stop near the store and arrested him. The suspect was identified as Augustine Haymond.

    A search of Haymond and his property led to the discovery of stolen merchandise, a small amount of methamphetamine, and drug paraphernalia. Through further investigation, troopers learned that Haymond had stolen the merchandise on display by cutting the security cable. After a computer check, it was learned that Haymond was wanted for shoplifting, in a similar manner, from Lowe’s on Hessler Boulevard in New Castle.

    Haymond was taken to Troop 7, charged with the crimes listed below, arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 7, and released on an $11,500 unsecured bond.

    Troopers Arrest Frankford Man for 4th Offense DUI Following Serious Crash in Frankford

    Delaware State Police have arrested 51-year-old Thomas Milligan of Frankford, for 4th offense DUI and related charges following a crash that injured two men last night in Frankford.

    On May 11, 2024, at approximately 8:47 p.m., a Subaru Outback was driving northbound on Dupont Boulevard in the left lane south of Frankford Avenue. At the same time, a Mazda Protégé was backing out of a private driveway on the 34000 block of Dupont Boulevard. As a result, the front of the Subaru hit the back of the Mazda. After the crash, the Subaru left the scene but was located a short time later, unoccupied. Troopers searched the area and found the driver, identified a Thomas Milligan. When troopers spoke Milligan, he showed sign of impairment and was arrested. Milligan was not injured in the crash.

    The occupants of the Mazda, a 19-year-old man from Frankford, was taken to an area hospital for minor injuries and released. A 30-year-old man from Frankford was taken to an area hospital with serious injuries.

    Milligan was arrested and taken to Troop 4, where he was charged with the crimes listed below, arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 7, and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on a $4,850 cash bond.

    Troopers Arrest Clayton Man for 6th DUI Offense

    Delaware State Police arrested 60-year-old Victor Tusso of Clayton, Delaware, for 6th offense felony DUI Saturday afternoon.

    On May 11, 2024, at approximately 3:03 p.m., a trooper responded to a Ford Taurus that had crashed into a mailbox and a fence on the 700 block of Wheatley’s Pond Road near Clayton. When the trooper arrived, he spoke to the driver, identified as Victor Tusso, He showed signs of impairment and the trooper administered Standardized Field Sobriety Tests. After the tests, Tusso was arrested for driving under the influence and a computer check showed that he had five prior DUI-related convictions. During a search of Tusso and his car, the trooper found a small amount of crack cocaine and drug paraphernalia. Tusso was not hurt in the crash.

    Tusso was taken to Troop 9, where he was charged with the below crimes, arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 7, and committed to Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on a $6,450 secured bond.

    Delaware State Police Detectives have arrested 18-year-old Lewis M. Cameron of Hyattsville, Maryland, for attempted murder on Friday.

    On October 8, 2023, at approximately 6:01 p.m., troopers responded to a residence located on the 31000 block of Maple Court in Lewes for a report of a shooting. When troopers arrived on scene, they located a 29-year-old man from Millsboro in front of the residence with multiple gunshot wounds. Through investigative means, detectives identified Lewis M. Cameron as the suspect in the shooting.

    On May 10, 2024, Cameron was extradited to Delaware from Maryland. He was taken to Troop 5, where he was charged with the following crimes:

    • Attempted 1st Degree Murder (Felony)
    • Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony (Felony)

    Cameron was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2 and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on $1,209,100 cash bond.

    State Police Detectives Investigating Homicide in Wilmington

    The Delaware State Police are investigating a homicide that occurred at Concord Mall parking lot on Saturday night that left one teenager dead and another hospitalized.

    On May 11, 2024, at approximately 10:45 p.m., troopers responded to a shooting at Concord Mall parking lot, located at 4737 Concord Pike in Wilmington. When troopers arrived, they found that two teenagers had been shot and began life-saving efforts. The victims were transported to an area hospital where a 16-year-old male was pronounced dead, and a 17-year-old male remains in serious condition.

    A preliminary investigation shows that a fight broke out between several people near the entrance of a carnival that was in the parking lot. It was learned that during the fight, an unknown suspect pulled a gun and fired several shots, hitting the two teenagers. The suspect fled the scene in an unknown direction.

    The Homicide Unit is actively investigating this incident. Detectives are asking anyone with information regarding this case to contact Detective B. McDerby by calling 302-741-2729.     State Police Investigating Two-Vehicle Fatal Crash in Newark

    The Delaware State Police are investigating a two-vehicle fatal crash that occurred this morning in Newark that left one man dead.

    On May 11, 2024, at approximately 11:25 a.m., a Chevrolet Cruze was driving eastbound East Chestnut Hill Road turning left onto Chestnut Crossing Drive. At the same time, a Ford Mustang was driving westbound on East Chestnut Hill Road in the left lane. The preliminary investigation revealed that the Ford was driving at an apparent high rate of speed and the front of the Ford hit the passenger side of the Chevrolet.

    The driver of the Chevrolet, a 47-year-old man from New Castle, Delaware, was transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The unrestrained back-seat passenger, a 27-year-old man from Newark, Delaware, was ejected from the car. He was transported to an area hospital where he died. His name is being withheld until his family is notified.

    The driver of the Ford, a 19-year-old man from Newark, Delaware, was not injured.

    The roadway was closed for approximately 4 hours while the scene was investigated and cleared.

    State Police Detectives Investigating Robbery of a Pizza Delivery Driver in Seaford

    The Delaware State Police are investigating an armed robbery of a pizza delivery driver in Seaford on Friday night.

    On May 10, 2024, at approximately 10:39 p.m., troopers responded to a report of an armed robbery that occurred on the 24000 block of German Road in Seaford. During the preliminary investigation, detectives learned that three unknown male suspects approached the victim while he was making a delivery at a house. One of the suspects pointed a gun at the victim, took the pizza, and stole his Toyota Camry. The victim was not hurt.

    On May 11, 2024, at approximately 1:30 a.m., troopers saw the stolen Camry and pulled it over. When they pulled it over, the occupants ran, but the driver, identified as 18-year-old Asjmeir Fiorentino of Seaford, was caught a short time later. Troopers searched for the other occupants but did not find them.

    Fiorentino was taken to Troop 5, charged with the crimes listed below, arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 7, and released on his own recognizance.

    Three Arrested Following Shooting in Ellendale, Detectives Ask for Help Finding Fourth Suspect

    Delaware State Police detectives have arrested 20-year-old Isaiah Yunas of Ellendale, Delaware, and two teenagers for multiple charges following a shooting in Ellendale early yesterday morning.

    On May 8, 2024, at approximately 12:31 a.m., troopers responded to a home on South Old State Road in Ellendale for a disorderly incident. While responding, troopers were told that shots had been fired at the same location. When troopers arrived, they found a 20-year-old woman had been shot in the leg. During the investigation, they learned a gray SUV stopped in the road, the occupants argued with people in the backyard of the house and fired shots at them, hitting the woman and the house. There were several people in the house, including a child. Troopers located the SUV and the suspects a short time later. The suspects, identified as Isaiah Yunas, and two 17-year-olds were arrested. The victim was treated and released from a local hospital for her injuries.

    John is described as a white male, approximately 5’01″ tall, weighing approximately 140 pounds. His clothing description is unknown. He is driving a maroon Dodge Caravan with Delaware temporary registration XQ504534.

    Troopers Arrest Frederica Woman for Felony Theft and Forgery

    Delaware State Police arrested 30-year-old Kaitlyn Maynard, of Frederica, Delaware for felony theft and forgery charges.

    On May 6, 2024, troopers were called to a home on Cooper Road in Dover for a theft. When troopers arrived, they spoke with a 79-year-old victim who said that money and checks had been stolen from the house. The investigation led troopers to a cleaning company employee, identified as Kaitlyn Maynard, as the suspect. Through further investigation, it was learned that Maynard tried to cash a check, that she forged with the victim’s signature, at a local bank but was unsuccessful.

    Maynard turned herself in at Troop 3, where she was charged with the crimes listed below, arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 7, and released on a $6,000 unsecured bond.

Before the trooper arrived, he was told that the driver of the Jeep walked away from the crash. When the trooper arrived, he located the driver, identified as David Gillespie, walking on Cedar Creek Road. When he spoke to Gillespie, he showed signs of impairment and administered Standardized Field Sobriety Tests. After the tests, Gillespie was arrested for driving under the influence and a computer check showed that he had five prior DUI-related convictions. Gillespie was not hurt in the crash.

The first vehicle is described as a silver car with moderate front-end damage. The second vehicle is a 2010-2013 white Acura MDX with front-end damage. Both vehicles were last seen driving northbound on Harbeson Road after the crash.

    Delaware State Police arrested 35-year-old Brandon Myers of Millsboro, Delaware, for multiple felony assault and resisting arrest charges in Long Neck Sunday morning.

    On April 28, 2024, at approximately 5:38 a.m., troopers responded to a house on the 26000 block of Oak Forest Lane near Millsboro for an assault. When troopers arrived, they learned that a man, identified as Brandon Myers, had assaulted a woman at the house and left. A short time later, troopers found Myers on the property of a business in the 32000 block of Long Neck Road. When troopers tried to arrest Myers, he physically resisted arrest and attempted to take a trooper’s gun from the holster while they were arresting him. Myers was ultimately arrested after a taser was used. Two troopers were treated for minor injuries.

    Myers was taken to an area hospital for minor injuries and released. He was then taken to Troop 7, where he was charged with the crimes listed below, arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 3, and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on a $94,301 cash bond.

    State Police Arrest Magnolia Man for Drug Offenses During Traffic Stop

    Delaware State Police arrested 49-year-old Jerry Smith of Magnolia, Delaware, on multiple drug-related charges following a traffic stop yesterday afternoon.

    On April 28, 2024, at approximately 12:30 p.m., a trooper on patrol saw a Dodge Charger near Millchop Lane and Stevenson Drive in Magnolia with a registration violation. The trooper pulled the car over and as he approached, he saw the driver, identified as Jerry Smith, erratically moving around in the car. The trooper saw a white powdery substance on his lap, hands, and inside the car. Smith was arrested. When searching Smith, the trooper found approximately 4.06 grams of crack cocaine, approximately 0.22 grams of powder cocaine, approximately 5.08 grams of marijuana, money, and a scale.

    Smith was taken to Troop 3, where he was charged with the crimes listed below, arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 7, and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on a $9,850 secured bond.

    State Police Investigating Fatal Motorcycle Crash Near Middletown

    The Delaware State Police are investigating a fatal crash involving a motorcycle near Middletown yesterday.

    On April 28, 2024, at approximately 2:20 p.m., a Ford F-250 was stopped in the left turn lane on Warwick Road eastbound, waiting to merge onto the ramp for Delaware 301 northbound. At the same time, a Honda CBR motorcycle was driving eastbound in the right lane on Warwick Road. The investigation revealed that the driver of the motorcycle was traveling at a high rate of speed, made abrupt lane changes and entered the left turn lane. As a result, the motorcycle hit the back of the F-250.

    The driver of the F-250, a 24-year-old man from Coatesville, Pennsylvania, was not hurt. Two passengers in the F-250, a 25-year-old man and a 41-year-old man from Malvern, Pennsylvania, were not hurt. The driver of the motorcycle, a 61-year-old man from New Castle, Delaware, was taken to an area hospital where he died.  His name is being withheld until his family is notified.

    The roadway was closed for approximately three and half hours while the scene was investigated and cleared.

    State Police Detectives Investigating Sussex County Daytime Burglaries

    The Delaware State Police are currently investigating four daytime residential burglaries that occurred between April 22, 2024, and April 23, 2024. The burglaries occurred in the neighborhoods of Compass Point and Kindleton in Lewes, and Kings Crossing in Lincoln. The suspects appear to be targeting the owners of various local nail salons. Some of these burglaries involved forced entry to the homes.

    The suspects were wearing construction vests, gloves, baseball hats, sweatshirts and surgical masks. The suspects are possibly operating a dark colored SUV.

    Bridgeville Man Arrested for Falsely Reporting Burglary and Teens Arrested for Gun Offenses

    The Delaware State Police arrested 47-year-old Andrew May of Bridgeville, Delaware for falsely reporting a burglary and two teenagers for felony gun offenses.

    On April 17, 2024, at approximately 7:08 a.m., troopers responded to the 11000 block of Abby’s Way in Bridgeville for a burglary. May reported to troopers that someone had gotten into his house and stolen a gun. During the investigation, detectives learned that no one entered May’s house and that he gave the gun to one teenager and the ammunition and magazines to another. Through further investigation, detectives identified both teenagers. The investigation also revealed that the teenager sold the gun, and it has not been recovered. The investigation is ongoing.

    On April 19, 2024, May responded to Troop 4 and was arrested. He was charged with the crimes listed below, arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2, and released on a $4,000 unsecured bond.

    Troopers Arrest Three for Millsboro Burglary

    Delaware State Police arrested 61-year-old William Nickerson, 45-year-old Bonnie Osborne, and 21-year-old Alan Dardon-Perez, all of Millsboro, for burglary and related charges.

    On April 25, 2024, at approximately 7:33 p.m., troopers responded to the 21000 block of Paul Drive in Millsboro for a burglary. When troopers arrived, they learned items were stolen from a house under construction. The victims found their stolen property at another house nearby on Paul Drive and confronted a possible suspect. During the confrontation, the possible suspect threatened the victim. The investigation revealed that multiple items had been stolen from the house. The investigation led troopers to Nickerson, Osborne, and Dardon-Perez as the suspects in the burglary.

    Nickerson was arrested and taken to Troop 4, where he was charged with the crimes listed below, arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 7, and released on his own recognizance.

    Troopers Arrest Smyrna Man for Aggravated Menacing

    Delaware State Police arrested 35-year-old Dennis Piasio of Smyrna, Delaware, for aggravated menacing and other charges yesterday.

    On April 25, 2024, at approximately 12:16 p.m., troopers responded to an aggravated menacing on Arthursville Road near Main Street in Hartly. When troopers arrived, they learned that two men were driving northbound on Arthursville Road, leaving a construction site. A blue car was driving southbound in the northbound lane and stopped in front of the vehicle. The driver of the blue car, identified as Dennis Piasio, who the two men know, got out and opened the victims’ driver side door. He pushed the driver against the seat, grabbed the passenger and pointed a gun at him. The driver was able to push Piasio away from the vehicle and leave the area. The victims were not hurt.

    Piasio turned himself in at Troop 3, where he was charged with crimes listed below, arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2, and released after posting a $74,000 secured bond.

    Delaware State Police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred near Millsboro on Tuesday night.

    On April 23, 2024, at approximately 11:46 p.m., a BMW 328 was driving westbound on Friendship Road west of Independence Drive. For reasons still under investigation, the driver lost control of the car causing it to leave the north side of the road, drive through wet grass, and hit a tree.

    The 19-year-old-driver of the BMW, a man from Millsboro, was not properly restrained. He was taken to a nearby hospital with critical injuries. On April 24, 2024, he died from injuries sustained in the crash. His name is being withheld until his family is notified.

    State Police Arrest Ocean View Woman for Assaulting Senior

    Delaware State Police arrested 48-year-old Regina Bonacquisti of Ocean View, Delaware, for felony assault of a senior citizen.

    On April 23, 2024, at approximately 7:00 p.m., troopers responded to an assault in the 37000 block of Mahogany Street near Ocean View. When troopers arrived, they spoke with a 66-year-old woman who said that she was assaulted by a woman, later identified as Regina Bonacquisti. During the investigation, troopers learned that the 66-year-old woman was in the driveway of a house when Bonacquisti, who she does not know, aggressively approached her from the roadway, assaulted her, and damaged her vehicle. After the assault, Bonacquisti left the scene. The victim was taken to an area hospital for her injuries. Warrants were obtained for Bonacquisti’s arrest.

    On April 24, 2024, Bonacquisti was arrested and taken to Ocean View Police Department, where she was charged with the crimes listed below, arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2, and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on a $2,700 cash bond.

    Troopers Investigating Fatal Crash Near Bethany Beach

    Delaware State Police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred near Bethany Beach on Friday night.

    On April 19, 2024, at approximately 6:58 p.m., a Ford F-350 pick-up truck, pulling a trailer, was driving southbound in the right lane on Coastal Highway south of Dune Road. At the same time a Jaguar F-type was driving southbound on Coastal Highway, behind the F-350. For reasons under investigation, the driver of the Jaguar lost control causing him to hit the trailer being pulled by the F-350. As a result, the trailer disconnected from the F-350 and overturned.

    The driver of the F-350, a 61-year-old man, and passenger, a 59-year-old woman, both of Drums, Pennsylvania were not hurt. The driver of the Jaguar, an 87-year-old-man from Rehoboth Beach was taken to a nearby hospital with serious injuries. On April 21, 2024, he died from injuries sustained in the crash. His name is being withheld until his family is notified.

    State Police Detectives Arrest Lincoln Man for Georgetown Burglary

    The Delaware State Police arrested 32-year-old Frank Montgomery of Lincoln, Delaware for a burglary and theft in Georgetown last month.

    On April 9, 2024, troopers were called to a home in the 26000 block of Lewes-Georgetown Highway in Georgetown for a burglary. When troopers arrived, they found someone had entered a storage container on the property sometime in late March. Once inside, the suspect took a 4-wheeler, a mini-bike plus numerous power tools. On April 18, 2024, detectives learned of a theft in the 25000 block of Prettyman Road in Georgetown, where lawn and garden equipment were stolen from a 66-year-old woman. The investigation led detectives to Frank Montgomery as the suspect in both incidents, and warrants were obtained for his arrest.

    On April 22, 2024, Montgomery was arrested and taken to Troop 4, where he was charged with the crimes listed below, arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2, and released on his own recognizance.

    The Delaware State Police Troop 7 Collision Reconstruction Unit is attempting to locate the two vehicles involved in the fatal pedestrian hit-and-run crash that occurred on April 19, 2024. The first vehicle is described as a silver car with moderate front-end damage. The second vehicle is described as a smaller white SUV with minor front-end damage or damage to the undercarriage. Both vehicles were last seen driving northbound on Harbeson Road after the crash.

    Traffic Stop Leads to Arrest of Dover Man For Felony Gun Charge

    Delaware State Police arrested 23-year-old Elijah Lambert of Dover, Delaware, for a felony gun charge on Friday night near Frederica.

    On April 19, 2024, at approximately 10:57 p.m., a trooper on patrol saw a Chevrolet Impala speeding on Bay Road southbound at Trap Shooters Road near Frederica. The trooper pulled the car over and spoke with the driver, identified as Elijah Lambert. During the conversation, Lambert told the trooper there was a loaded gun under the driver’s seat. Lambert was arrested and troopers found a loaded Taurus 9mm handgun under the seat. A computer check showed that Lambert does not have a concealed carry permit.

    Lambert was taken to Troop 3, where he was charged with the crimes listed below, arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 7, and released on his own recognizance.

    Troopers Arrest Man for Shooting in Blades

    The Delaware State Police have arrested 25-year-old Harold Dixon after a shooting in Blades Sunday morning.

    On April 21, 2024, at approximately 8:21 a.m., troopers responded to a house on East Fifth Street in Blades for a report of shots fired. When troopers arrived, they learned that gunshots were fired, and a black car was seen speeding away. Troopers were able to get a description of the car and the suspect. During the investigation, the suspect was identified as Harold Dixon. Troopers arrested Dixon and learned that he was having an argument with a woman when he fired several shots in the ground outside of the house. A child was inside the house when the shooting happened. No one was hurt.

    Dixon was taken to Troop 5, where he was charged with the crimes listed below, arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 3, and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on a $107,000 cash bond.

    Troopers Arrest Chicago Pair for Felony Shoplifting

    Delaware State Police arrested 35-year-old Fabian Jaworski and 34-year-old Sandra Zelinska both of Chicago, Illinois, for felony shoplifting yesterday.

    On April 20, 2024, at approximately 11:12 a.m., troopers responded to Lowe’s, located at 2225 Hessler Boulevard in New Castle, for a shoplifting. When troopers arrived, they were told that a man and a woman had stolen merchandise from the store and left in a Chrysler minivan. A short time later, a Lowe’s employee saw the man and woman at Dunkin’ Donuts, located at 2076 Concord Pike in Wilmington. When troopers arrived at Dunkin’ Donuts, they contacted the man and woman, identified as Fabian Jaworski and Sandra Zelinska. Through investigative means, troopers identified them as the suspects in the shoplifting and they were arrested. Troopers found the stolen merchandise from Lowe’s along with other stolen property valued at over $4,000. Troopers learned that the suspects stole merchandise valued over $450 from Lowe’s, located at 1030 East Songsmith Drive in Bear, and merchandise valued over $1,900 from the Hessler Boulevard location.

    Jaworski was taken to Troop 2, charged with the crimes listed below, arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 11, and committed to Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on an $8,000 cash bond.

    State Police Detectives Investigating Wilmington Parking Lot Robbery

    The Delaware State Police are investigating a parking lot robbery in Wilmington last night.

    On April 20, 2024, at approximately 9:36 p.m., troopers responded to Canby Park Shopping Center on Maryland Avenue in Wilmington, for a robbery that happened in the parking lot near China Dragon Restaurant. When troopers arrived, they learned that a 35-year-old man was getting into his car when he was approached by two men. The two men assaulted the victim and stole his money. The suspects left the scene in an unknown vehicle towards Maryland Avenue. The victim was taken to an area hospital for minor injuries.

    The first suspect is described as a Hispanic male, approximately 35-40 years of age, wearing a hat, white t-shirt, and blue sweatpants. The second suspect is described as a Hispanic male, approximately 35 years of age, wearing a navy t-shirt, gray pants, and gray sneakers.

    Surveillance video and images of the suspects are not yet available.

    Troopers Arrest Man for Stealing Church Van

    The Delaware State Police arrested 18-year-old Ronald Alberts of Seaford, Delaware, for stealing a church van early Friday morning.

    On April 19, 2024, at approximately 1:52 a.m., a trooper on patrol saw a white Dodge passenger van swerving on Concord Road in the area of Church Road near Seaford. The trooper pulled the van over on Concord Pond Road and spoke to the driver, identified as Ronald Alberts. A computer check found that the van belonged to a local church. A representative of the church was contacted, and it was learned that the van was stolen from the church parking lot. Alberts was arrested for stealing the van.

    Alberts was taken to Troop 5, where he was charged with the below crimes, arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 7, and released on a $2,400 unsecured bond.

    Troopers Searching for Magnolia Robbery Suspect

    The Delaware State Police are searching for a suspect in a robbery that occurred yesterday morning in Magnolia.

    On April 19, 2024, at approximately 9:05 a.m., troopers responded to a house on Gray’s Lane in Magnolia for a robbery. The preliminary investigation revealed that a man went into a woman’s house, began arguing with her and forcefully stole her property. During the robbery, the man took her phone and threw it, she was not able to call 911. The suspect left the house on foot in an unknown direction. Troopers searched the area but did not find him.

    Through investigative means, troopers have identified 35-year-old George Brinkley as the suspect. He is a black male, approximately 6’02” tall, weighing approximately 240 pounds, brown eyes and black hair. He was last seen wearing a white North Face hooded sweatshirt, and blue pants.

    The Delaware State Police Troop 3 are searching for Brinkley. Troopers are asking anyone with information regarding Brinkley’s whereabouts to contact Troop 3 by calling 302-697-4454 or by dialing 911.     State Police Asking for Witnesses Following Fatal Pedestrian Hit-and-Run Crash in Harbeson

    Delaware State Police are investigating a hit-and-run crash that claimed the life of one man early this morning.

    On April 19, 2024, at approximately 2:18 a.m., a silver car was driving northbound on Harbeson Road north of Lewes-Georgetown Highway. At the same time, for reasons under investigation, a pedestrian was in the northbound lane of Harbeson Road. The pedestrian was hit by the silver car. A short time later, a smaller white SUV also driving northbound, hit the pedestrian. Both vehicles left the scene.

    The victim, a 28-year-old man from Seaford, was taken to a nearby hospital where he died. His name is being withheld until his family has been notified.

    As of now, surveillance video and images of the vehicles are not available.

    Harbeson Road was closed for approximately 4 hours while investigators examined the scene and cleared the roadway.

    The Delaware State Police are investigating an armed robbery this morning in Dover.

    On April 19, 2024, at approximately 4:00 a.m., troopers responded to an armed robbery in the parking lot of Waffle House, located at 4003 South Dupont Highway in Dover. During the preliminary investigation, detectives learned that four women were sitting in a disabled car waiting for help when they were approached by two black men with guns. The suspects demanded the victims’ property from the car, and they complied. The suspects fled on foot from the scene. The four women were not hurt.

    As of now, surveillance video and images of the suspects are not available.

    Delaware State Police Troop 3 has issued a Gold Alert for 52-year-old James Miller of Magnolia, Delaware. He was last seen near Stevenson Drive in Magnolia on April 15, 2024, and has not been seen since. Attempts to contact or locate him have been unsuccessful, and there is a concern for his safety and well-being.

    James is described as a black male, approximately 6’02” tall, weighing approximately 215 pounds, thin build with brown eyes and bald. He was last seen wearing pajama pants, a white t-shirt, and slippers.

    Detectives Investigating a Road Rage Shooting on I-495

    The Delaware State Police are investigating a road rage shooting on I-495 near Wilmington.

    On April 14, 2024, at approximately 12:28 a.m., troopers responded to a road rage shooting that occurred on I-495 where one man was shot. The preliminary investigation revealed a man was driving southbound on I-495 near the merge at I-95, when an unknown blue car pulled next to him and shot at his car. The interaction between the two drivers before the shooting is under investigation. The victim, a 47-year-old man, was shot in the wrist. He was taken to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the blue car left the scene.

    Currently, there is no suspect information available.

    State Police Investigating a Pedestrian Killed by a Train Near Newark

    The Delaware State Police are investigating a man hit and killed by a train near Newark last night.

    On April 11, 2024, at approximately 5:15 p.m., a CSX train was traveling from New York to Washington, D.C., in the area of 4949 Ogletown Stanton Road in Newark. At the same time, a man was walking on the outside of the railroad tracks with his back to the oncoming train. The preliminary investigation suggests, the man did not move from the track area after the train operator blew the horn. As a result, the front of the train hit the man.

    The victim, a 54-year-old man from Smyrna, Delaware, was pronounced dead at the scene. His name is being withheld until his family is notified.
