Astros Trade Nate Pearson to Kansas City, Acquire Pitching Prospect Max Martin

The Houston Astros completed a trade Wednesday, sending right-handed pitcher Nate Pearson to Kansas City in return for pitching prospect Max Martin.

Pearson had been designated for assignment by Houston on Sunday, setting the stage for the deal. During the current season, he appeared in 16 games and posted a 1-0 record with a 3.60 ERA.

The experienced pitcher carries a career record of 10-6 with a 4.99 ERA across 139 games over six major league seasons, with previous stops in Toronto and with the Chicago Cubs.

Martin, 22, has put together an impressive 2025 campaign, going 6-2 with a 2.01 ERA in 26 relief outings split between two levels of Class-A ball. The right-hander was selected by Kansas City in the 10th round of the 2025 draft.
