Good evening, Delmarva! If you’re stepping outside tonight, be prepared for a combination of heat and haze. We’re looking at a warm, partly cloudy night with temperatures only dropping to around 77°F — and with heat index values climbing as high as 105°F, it’s going to feel downright oppressive even after dark. A west wind at 5 to 10 mph will offer little relief. The bigger story? Patchy smoke moves into the area after 3 AM, so those with respiratory sensitivities should plan accordingly and limit time outdoors.
Heading into Thursday, conditions remain concerning. Smoke settles over the peninsula with a daytime high of 97°F — dangerously hot. Air quality is expected to be poor, so keep the kids and pets inside and stay hydrated. Thursday night brings little relief, with temperatures around 74°F and lingering smoke. By Friday, we’re back up to 91°F with areas of smoke continuing.
Stay cool, stay safe, and keep it here on TV Delmarva for the latest updates. We’re watching out for you!
