Yankees Call Up Yovanny Cruz, Send Yerry De los Santos to Triple-A

The New York Yankees shook up their bullpen on Tuesday, calling up right-handed pitcher Yovanny Cruz from their Triple-A affiliate in Scranton/Wilkes-Barre while sending fellow right-hander Yerry De los Santos down to the same level.

Cruz, 26, broke into the big leagues on May 20 and turned in a clean performance across two relief appearances, tossing 2 1/3 innings without surrendering a single run before being returned to the minors. His path to the majors was a long one — he spent eight seasons in the minor league system with four different organizations before finally earning his first big league call-up this year.

De los Santos, 28, has been sharp when given the opportunity this season, posting a 1.04 ERA across five relief outings during three separate stints with the Yankees. Over his career, the right-hander carries a 1-5 record with a 3.53 ERA in 78 relief appearances split between the Pittsburgh Pirates from 2022 to 2023 and the Yankees in 2025 and 2026.
