World Cup Trophy Headed to New York-New Jersey Stadium in Custom Louis Vuitton Trunk

The most prized trophy in soccer will arrive at the New York-New Jersey stadium in a one-of-a-kind Louis Vuitton trunk, marking the fifth consecutive time the French luxury fashion house has been chosen to design the official carry case for the World Cup prize.

The custom trunk is adorned with a large golden “V” across the front — a nod to both “Victory” and “Vuitton” — along with the brand’s well-known monogram design and gold-plated brass corner guards. Inside, the case is lined with beige leather and includes a special patch honoring the ongoing partnership between Louis Vuitton and FIFA.

This marks the fifth straight tournament in which Louis Vuitton has crafted the trophy’s traveling case, following previous designs used at the 2010, 2014, 2018, and 2022 World Cups.

Louis Vuitton CEO and Chairman Pietro Beccari spoke to the significance of the relationship in a prepared statement: “For over a decade, Louis Vuitton and FIFA have shared an unwavering commitment to excellence, bound by a shared belief in sport’s power to inspire and bring people together.”

The intersection of luxury brands and professional sports is nothing new. Tiffany & Co. has been crafting the Super Bowl championship prize — now called the Vince Lombardi Trophy — since the very first game back in 1967.

Louis Vuitton also produces custom trophy trunks for major Grand Prix events through a 10-year agreement with Formula 1.

Still, the World Cup trophy holds a unique distinction. The iconic prize normally lives at the FIFA Museum in Zurich, and because only one exists, creating its bespoke travel case is considered a particularly prestigious honor.
