World Cup Final Tickets Reach Staggering Prices for Messi vs. Yamal Showdown

If you were hoping to snag a last-minute ticket to watch Lionel Messi and Argentina take on Lamine Yamal and Spain in the World Cup final, you had better have a very large credit limit — or access to a bank vault.

Sunday’s championship match in East Rutherford, New Jersey is shaping up to be one of the most expensive sporting events to attend in recent memory.

On Saturday morning, FIFA’s official ticket resale platform was showing its lowest-priced tickets at $6,411.25 — for a mid-level seat behind the goal. Those bargain-by-comparison seats were gone before lunchtime.

Seats in the upper deck corners were going for close to $10,000, while getting closer to the field would set buyers back roughly $16,000. Special hospitality seating was listed at nearly $60,000.

Other resale platforms, including SeatGeek and StubHub, were also listing upper deck seats starting around $10,000, with some lower bowl seats climbing toward $35,000.

For many fans, the steep price may feel justified. Messi, widely regarded as the greatest soccer player of all time, will be chasing history against Yamal, one of the sport’s most exciting young talents.

Argentina is competing for its fourth World Cup title overall and is looking to become the first nation to win back-to-back championships since Brazil accomplished the feat in 1958 and 1962. Spain last lifted the trophy in 2010.
