Tropical Storm Bertha has made landfall and is now moving inland across eastern Texas, according to the latest update from forecasters issued Thursday afternoon.
As of 4:00 PM Central Daylight Time on Thursday, July 23, the storm’s center was positioned near coordinates 29.8 degrees north latitude and 94.7 degrees west longitude. Bertha was tracking in a west-northwest direction at a forward speed of approximately 13 miles per hour.
The storm’s minimum central pressure was recorded at 1006 millibars, with maximum sustained winds measured at around 40 miles per hour.
Heavy rainfall was spreading across portions of the Texas coastline as the storm continued its inland push. Residents in affected areas were urged to remain aware of potential flooding and hazardous conditions associated with the heavy rains accompanying the system.
