  • Search Warrants in Dover Lead to Arrests for Drug and Gun Offenses

    The Delaware State Police have arrested 39-year-old Neal Barnes, 52-year-old Anthony James, and 51-year-old Kevin Walker, all from Dover, Delaware, for felony drug and gun charges following three search warrants in Dover.

    On December 11, 2025, members of the Kent County Drug Unit executed search warrants at three residences on the 60, 70, and 100 blocks of Vanessa Drive in Dover. The search warrants were obtained following an investigation of Neal Barnes, Anthony James, and Kevin Walker for the distribution of illegal narcotics from their residences. During the search warrants, all three suspects were detained inside their respective homes without incident, and a child was present in Walker’s residence.

    During a search of Barnes’ residence, detectives found the following items:

    • Approximately 2.76 grams of cocaine
    • Approximately 99.76 grams of crack cocaine
    • 9mm handgun and ammunition
    • .38 caliber handgun and ammunition
    • Digital scales
    • Drug paraphernalia

    During a search of James’ residence, detectives found the following items:

    • Approximately 19.88 grams of crack cocaine
    • Approximately 52.59 grams of cocaine
    • Drug paraphernalia
    • $2,472 in suspected drug proceeds

    During a search of Walker’s residence, detectives found the following items:

    • Approximately .69 grams of heroin
    • Approximately .35 grams of methamphetamine
    • Approximately 11.77 grams of crack cocaine
    • Approximately 31 ecstasy pills
    • Approximately 14 acetaminophen and oxycodone hydrochloride pills
    • Approximately 21 buprenorphine and naloxone sublingual films

    Barnes was arrested and taken to Troop 3, where he was charged with the crimes listed below, arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2, and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on a $57,000 cash bond.

  • State Police Arrest Maryland Man Following Carjacking Incident in Middletown

    Delaware State Police have arrested 51-year-old David Thornton of Essex, Maryland, following a carjacking incident that occurred yesterday afternoon in Middletown.

    On December 12, 2025, at approximately 1:15 p.m., a Texas man was traveling north on State Route 301 near Summit Bridge Road, in a white Chevrolet Silverado, when he saw two vehicles that had been involved in a crash. The man stopped to help and spoke to the driver of a Mercedes involved in the crash, later identified as David Thornton. While the victim was calling 9-1-1, he saw Thronton get into the driver’s seat of his Silverado. When the victim opened the back door of the Silverado, Thornton began reaching for something, told the victim to get out, and sped away.

    The Silverado was tracked electronically and was located a short time later on the ramp from northbound I-95 to Airport Road after it struck a guard rail. When troopers arrived, Thornton was taken into custody without incident. During a search of the Silverado, troopers found a revolver style CO2 BB gun.

    Thornton was taken to an area hospital for non-life-threatening injuries from the crashes. After he was released, he was taken to Troop 2, where he was charged with the crimes listed below, arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 11, and committed to Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on a $20,000 cash bond.

  • *Update – Suspect Arrested* Detectives Investigating Robbery at Christiana Mall Levi’s

    Delaware State Police arrested 25-year-old Jordin Miller, of Newark, Delaware, for the robbery that occurred Monday evening at Christiana Mall’s Levi’s.

    On December 1, 2025, at approximately 7:30 p.m., troopers responded to a report of a robbery at Levi’s located inside the Christina Mall at 132 Christiana Mall Road in Newark. The preliminary investigation revealed an unknown black male entered the store, shoved the clerk who was counting money, and fled after taking an undisclosed amount of cash from the register. No one was injured during the incident.

    Through investigative means, detectives identified Jordin Miller as the robbery suspect and obtained a warrant for his arrest.

    On December 3rd, 2025, troopers arrested Miller without incident at the Christiana Mall. He was taken to Troop 2 where he was charged with the crime listed below, arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2, and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on a $2,000 secured bond.

  • *Update – Suspect Arrested* State Police Investigating Shooting Incident in Georgetown

    Delaware State Police arrested 18-year-old Jedidiah Dorman of Georgetown, following a shooting investigation that occurred in November.

    On November 19, 2025, at approximately 5:20 p.m., troopers responded to the 22000 block of Lewes Georgetown Highway in Georgetown for a report of a residence that was struck by gunfire. The preliminary investigation revealed that an unknown suspect, fired an unknown number of shots that struck the residence. Two adults were in the home at the time. No one was injured.

    Through investigative means, detectives identified Jedidiah Dorman as the suspect responsible for the shooting.

    On December 1, 2025, Dorman turned himself in at Troop 4. He was charged with the crimes listed below, arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2, and released on a $15,000 unsecured bond.

    • Reckless Endangering First Degree (Felony) – 2 counts
    • Criminal Mischief Under $1000

  • Detectives Arrest Harrington Man for Aggravated Menacing

    The Delaware State Police arrested 43-year-old Dionne Warner of Harrington, Delaware, for aggravated menacing and weapon-related charges following a series of shots-fired incidents between Saturday evening and Sunday morning in Harrington.

    On November 29, 2025, at approximately 9:00 p.m., troopers responded to the 500 block of Staytonville Road in Harrington for a report of shots fired. Upon arrival, troopers learned that a small passenger car had been seen leaving the area after several shots were heard. At approximately 11:15 p.m., troopers responded back to the same location after the same passenger car returned and fired a shot towards the residence. The car was seen circling the area several times before fleeing. During the investigation, troopers recovered a spent shell casing and live ammunition at the scene.

    On November 30, 2025, at approximately 5:00 a.m., the same vehicle returned and fled the area after additional shots were heard. At approximately 10:30 a.m., an unknown black male driver was seen yelling from the same passenger car involved in the previous reported incidents. No homes in the area were struck, and no injuries were reported as a result of the gunfire in any of the events.

    Through investigative means, Dionne Warner was identified as the suspect during the shots-fired incidents. Warner did not appear to have any ties with the residents. The investigation revealed that during each incident, Warner was reportedly searching for a family member he believed was in the area. However, detectives confirmed there is no known affiliation between that individual and the residents.

    On November 30, 2025, troopers arrested Warner at his residence without incident on a separate active warrant. Warner, who is a convicted felon and prohibited from possessing deadly weapons, was taken to Troop 3 where he was charged with the crimes listed below, arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 7, and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on a $47,000 cash bond.

  • *Update– Suspect Arrested* State Police Investigating Robbery at Milton Gas Station

    Delaware State Police arrested 29-year-old Donald Tinley, Jr., of Milton, following a robbery investigation that began on Monday morning.

    On November 24, 2025, at approximately 11:00 a.m., troopers responded to the business, located at 25776 Deep Branch Road in Milton, for a reported robbery. The preliminary investigation revealed that an unknown suspect entered the store, went behind the counter, demanded that the clerk remove money from the registers, and took the clerk’s car keys. No one was injured during the incident. The suspect then fled with an undisclosed amount of cash and the clerk’s vehicle. A short time later, troopers located the stolen vehicle unoccupied in the area of New Hope Road in Ellendale. The suspect was described as a white male wearing a face covering.

    Through investigative leads, troopers identified Donald Tinley as the suspect responsible for the robbery. On November 26, 2025, troopers located Tinley at a residence in the Milton area, where he was taken into custody without incident.

    Tinley was transported to Troop 4, where he was charged with the offenses listed below, arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2, and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on a $10,500 cash bond.

  • Search Warrant in Laurel Leads to Arrests for Drug and Weapon Offenses

    The Delaware State Police have arrested 57-year-old David Vasquez and 27-year-old Bethany Dean, both from Laurel, Delaware, for felony drug and weapon charges following a search warrant in Laurel.

    On November 18, 2025, members of the Sussex County Drug Unit and the Sussex County Governor’s Task Force executed a search warrant at a residence on the 31000 block of East Trap Pond Road in Laurel. The search warrant was obtained following an investigation of David Vasquez and Bethany Dean for the distribution of illegal narcotics from the residence. Before the search warrant, Vasquez was seen leaving the residence in a Dodge Ram. Detectives pulled the Ram over, and Vasquez was detained without incident. During the search warrant, Dean was detained in the residence.

    A search of the residence led to the discovery of the following items:

    • Approximately 161.11 grams of powder cocaine
    • Approximately 12.63 grams of crack cocaine
    • Approximately 1.62 grams of heroin
    • Approximately 9.62 grams of methamphetamine
    • 91 oxycodone pills
    • 10 gabapentin pills
    • 5 escitalopram pills
    • 4 knives greater than 3 inches in length

    Vasquez was arrested and taken to Troop 4, where he was charged with the crimes listed below, arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2, and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on an $84,000 cash bond.

  • State Police Arrest Georgetown Man for Guns, Drugs, and Explosive Devices

    Delaware State Police have arrested 61-year-old David Godwin, of Georgetown, Delaware after pipe bombs, hoax devices, guns, and drugs were found following a domestic-related assault investigation.

    On November 10, 2025, at approximately 1:00 p.m., troopers responded to the 17000 block of McColley’s Chapel Road in Georgetown for a domestic-related assault. When troopers arrived, they learned that David Godwin was in possession of a handgun while he was involved in a fight with a family member and tried to assault the victim with a club. After the fight, Godwin fled the residence. Troopers attempted but were unable to locate Godwin and obtained a warrant for his arrest. The victim was treated by EMS and refused transport to the hospital.

    On November 11, 2025, troopers responded back to the residence, contacted Godwin, and arrested him without incident. While conducting a check of the residence, as part of the domestic violence investigation, troopers found drugs, guns, and what appeared to be homemade pipe bombs. Due to the circumstances, the Delaware State Police Explosives Ordnance Disposal Unit responded to the scene, removed the devices and rendered them safe. Detectives secured the scene and obtained a search warrant for the property.

    On November 12, 2025, detectives executed the search warrant for the property. The Delaware State Police Explosives Ordnance Disposal Unit, assisted by the Delaware State Fire Marshal’s Office, FBI, and ATF, found more potential pipe bombs and hoax devices.

    During the search of the property, detectives found the following items:

    • 4 pipe bombs
    • 5 pipe bombs (hoax devices)
    • Altered claymore mine (hoax device)
    • Altered novelty/plastic grenade (hoax device)
    • Approximately 9.1 grams of methamphetamines
    • 27 marijuana plants
    • .22 caliber rifle
    • 3 – .223 caliber rifles
    • 2 – .22 caliber handguns
    • .380 caliber handgun
    • .45 caliber handgun
    • .357 caliber handgun
    • Assorted ammunition

    On November 11, 2025, Godwin was arrested and taken to Troop 5, where he was charged with the crimes related to the assault, arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2, and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution. On November 12, 2025, Godwin was charged with the crimes related to the search warrant, arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2, and remains committed on a $280,000 cash and secured bond.

  • State Police Arrest Driver for Vehicular Homicide Following Two-Vehicle Fatal Crash in New Castle

    Delaware State Police have arrested 36-year-old Ashley Wright of Dover, Delaware, for vehicular homicide and traffic-related charges following a two-vehicle fatal crash that occurred early Saturday morning in New Castle.

    On November 15, 2025, at approximately 1:00 a.m., a Kenworth tractor trailer was traveling southbound in the left middle lane of North DuPont Highway, approaching Christiana Road. At the same time, a Lexus ES 350 approached the tractor trailer from the rear. The preliminary investigation revealed the Lexus failed to slow down and collided with the left rear of the Kenworth’s trailer. As a result, the Lexus spun, slid over a raised concrete median, and collided with a traffic sign.

    The passenger of the Lexus, a 36-year-old woman from New Castle, Delaware, was ejected during the crash. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Her name is being withheld until family is notified.

    The driver of the Lexus, identified as Ashley Wright, was taken to an area hospital by ambulance for non-life-threatening injuries. Wright showed signs of impairment at the time of the crash.

    The driver of the Kenworth, a 32-year-old man from Delaware City, Delaware, was not injured.

    North DuPont Highway southbound was closed for approximately 6 hours while the scene was investigated and cleared.

    After being released from the hospital, Wright was taken to Troop 2 and charged with the crimes listed below. She was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 11 and released after posting $10,102 cash bond.

  • Bridgeville Man Arrested for Felony Firearms Offenses

    The Delaware State Police have arrested 55-year-old Richard Banks of Bridgeville, Delaware, for felony firearms offenses, following an investigation of him possessing firearms as a person prohibited.

    On November 6, 2025, members of the Delaware State Police Firearms Transaction and Purchasing Unit and the Delaware State Police Special Operations Response Team, responded to a residence on the 11000 block of Silent Hill Road in Bridgeville, following an investigation of Richard Banks, for the possession of firearms or ammunition as a person prohibited. Detectives contacted Banks, who was in possession of a concealed handgun while trespassing on an adjacent property. He was taken into custody without incident.

    A consent search of the residence led to the discovery of the following items:

  • State Police Arrest Two Wilmington Men Following Home Invasion-Robbery and Pursuit in Kent County – Searching for Third Suspect

    Delaware State Police have arrested 19-year-old Dylan Charles and 22-year-old Quincey Thomas, both of Wilmington, Delaware, following a home invasion-robbery and pursuit that occurred yesterday in Kent County. A third unknown suspect remains at-large.

    On November 11, 2025, at approximately 1:00 p.m., troopers responded to the 100 block of East Chimney Top Lane in Felton for a report of a home invasion-robbery. The preliminary investigation revealed that two men, identified as Dylan Charles and Quincey Thomas, who were known by the female that answered the door, as friends of a 17-year-old male resident. Once inside, Charles and Thomas, confronted the teenage male, demanded money, and threatened him with a handgun. The female who answered the door heard what was going on, retrieved a rifle, and confronted Charles and Thomas. The suspects took the rifle, pointed it at her, and demanded her money. Two children were in the house at the time, one barricaded themself in a bedroom, and the other ran to a neighbor’s house. Charles and Thomas fled from the residence, with the firearms and money, in a white Infiniti QX5. The 17-year-old male victim and the two children were not hurt. The female victim suffered a minor injury.

    Responding troopers saw the Infiniti on State Route 12 and tried to pull it over, but it sped away. During the pursuit, the Infiniti, driven by Thomas, drove in a reckless and careless manner on several area Kent County roads and firearms were seen being thrown from the SUV along State Route 1. They were later recovered. The Infiniti ultimately came to a stop after stop sticks were deployed, and the SUV crashed into the center median cable barricade and then a guardrail on the shoulder on State Route 1 near Little Creek Road. Thomas, Charles, and a third unknown black male suspect fled from the SUV. Thomas and Charles were taken into custody, but the third suspect was not located. Detectives are working to identify and locate him.

    The firearms that were recovered were the victim’s rifle and a handgun, with no serial number, that was used by the suspects during the robbery. During a search of the Infiniti, troopers found approximately 1,595.9 grams of marijuana.

    Charles was taken to Troop 3, where he was charged with the crimes listed below, arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 7, and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on a $150,000 cash bond.

  • State Police Arrest Frankford Man Following Probation & Parole Search

    The Delaware State Police have arrested 20-year-old Malachi Mahon of Frankford, Delaware, for felony drug and gun charges following a Probation and Parole search yesterday in Frankford.

    On November 11, 2025, at approximately 8:30 p.m., the Sussex County Governor’s Task Force was requested by Probation & Parole after they conducted an administrative search at probationer Malachi Mahon’s residence on Frankford Avenue in Frankford. During the search of the residence, probation officers found drugs, drug paraphernalia, and a handgun. Mahon was detained without incident. A child was in the residence as the time.

    A search of the residence and Mahon, led to the discovery of the following items:

  • State Police Arrest Dover Man for Burglary of State Office Buildings and Theft of a State-Owned Vehicle

    Delaware State Police have arrested 29-year-old Isiah Worthy, of Dover, Delaware, for burglary, vehicle theft, and related charges following a burglary of two state office buildings, and theft of a state-owned vehicle in Dover.

    On November 8, 2025, at approximately 3:50 p.m., Delaware State Police and Dover Police Department responded to the Delaware State Police – State Bureau of Identification, located at 600 South Bay Road for a burglar alarm. When the police arrived, they learned that an unknown male suspect, wearing a mask, forced entry through the public access door using a steel sewer lid. Once inside, the suspect damaged property and stole money. During the investigation, detectives learned that another state office building, the Office of Management and Budget – Fleet Services, located on the same property, had also been broken into. Detectives learned that the same suspect, forced entry to the building using a steel sewer lid. Once inside, the suspect removed key fobs, then stole a state-owned Ford Mustang Mach-E, drove recklessly through the parking lot, and struck two parked cars in an adjacent parking lot. When detectives canvassed the parking lot area, they recovered a bank bag of stolen money that was discarded by the suspect.

    A short time later, troopers found the Mustang Mach-E, that was equipped with GPS, abandoned on Carpenter’s Bridge Road. Troopers checked the area and found a man matching the description of the suspect walking on Canterbury Road. He was detained without incident and determined to be the suspect, identified as Isiah Worthy. During a search of his person, troopers found the additional stolen money.

    Worthy was arrested and taken to Troop 3, where he was charged with the crimes listed below, arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 11, and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on a $14,050 secured bond.

  • State Police Arrest Harrington Man Following Shooting Incident

    Delaware State Police have arrested 60-year-old John Allen of Harrington, Delaware, for reckless endangering and other offenses following a shooting incident in Harrington.

    On November 7, 2025, at approximately 1:00 p.m., troopers responded to the 1000 block of Staytonville Road for a report of shots fired. When troopers arrived, they learned that a man, later identified as John Allen, was standing near the roadway with his hands in the air, and appeared to be waving down a vehicle traveling on Staytonville Road. Two vehicles stopped, and the victim attempted to talk to Allen, who was yelling at the driver of the other vehicle that stopped. While talking to Allen, the victim saw that he had a gun in his hand, and as the victim was driving away, Allen fired shots at him. No one was injured.

    Allen was arrested without incident and taken to Troop 3. He was charged with the crimes listed below, arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2, and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on a $23,500 cash bond.

    On October 30, 2025, at approximately 3:45 p.m., the Sussex County Governor’s Task Force was requested by Probation & Parole after they conducted an administrative search at probationer Amanda Seward’s residence on the 28000 block of Godwin Street in Millsboro. During the search of the residence, probation officers found drugs, drug paraphernalia, and suspected drug money. Seward and Truitt were detained without incident.

  • State Police Arrest Teenager on Gun Charges Following Traffic Stop in Wyoming

    Delaware State Police have arrested a 16-year-old male from Wyoming, Delaware, for felony gun and related charges following a traffic stop in Wyoming Tuesday night.

    On October 28, 2025, at approximately 8:50 p.m., a trooper saw a motorized scooter, with no light, traveling on Layton Avenue near Broad Street in Wyoming. The trooper pulled the scooter over, and spoke to the driver, identified as a 16-year-old male. While talking to the teenager, the trooper saw a rectangular shaped object near his waistband, and after the trooper asked the teenager if he had anything on him, he ran away. After a short foot pursuit, the teenager was taken into custody without incident. During a search of the teen, the trooper found a loaded Polymer 80 9mm handgun, with no serial number, in his waistband.

    The teenager was taken to Troop 3, where he was charged with the crimes listed below, arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 7, and committed to Stevenson House Detention Center on a $21,200 secured bond.

  • State Police Arrest Dover Man on Drug and Related Charges After Welfare Check

    Delaware State Police arrested 39-year-old Bradley Buchman of Dover, Delaware, following a welfare check Wednesday afternoon that led to the discovery of suspected drugs.

    On October 22, 2025, at approximately 4:30 p.m., troopers were conducting a follow-up on an unrelated investigation at a residence in the 4000 block of Forrest Avenue. While there, they observed a man slumped over and snoring in the driver’s seat of a pickup truck parked in the driveway with the driver’s door open.

    Troopers approached the vehicle to check on the man’s welfare. While attempting to wake him, troopers observed a blue wax bag, consistent with heroin packaging, in plain view on the center console. Once the man woke up, he was identified as Buchman. He was then removed from the vehicle and taken into custody without incident.

    A search of Buchman revealed approximately 33 blue wax bags containing a total of approximately .99 grams of suspected heroin and two bags containing approximately 14 grams of suspected methamphetamine. A search of the vehicle revealed drug paraphernalia and an object that appeared to be a handmade explosive device.

    The Delaware State Police Explosive Ordnance Disposal Team and the Delaware State Fire Marshal’s office responded to the scene and determined that the object was an improvised explosive device.

    Buchman was transported to Troop 3, where he was charged with the following offenses:

    • Possession of a Controlled Substance Tier 2 Quantity (Felony)
    • Possession of a Controlled or Counterfeit Substance
    • Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

    He was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2 and issued a $4,000 unsecured bond for the drug-related charges.

    The Delaware State Fire Marshal’s Office also charged Buchman with one count of Possession of an Explosive Device (Felony).  He was committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on a $5,000 cash bond for that charge at the time.

The vehicle failed to maintain its lane, crossing onto the shoulder and into the grass. Troopers initiated a traffic stop and contacted the driver, identified as Oscar Johnson, who showed signs of impairment and emitted a strong odor of alcoholic beverages.

    While troopers conducted Standardized Field Sobriety Tests, Johnson displayed additional signs of impairment. During the traffic stop, troopers observed him attempting to kick a clear plastic bag under his vehicle. The bag was recovered and found to contain a white, rock-like substance consistent with crack cocaine. Troopers also located a pill bottle containing a white powdery substance.

    Johnson was taken into custody and transported to Troop 5, where the substances tested positive for cocaine with a combined weight of approximately 105 grams.   • State Police Arrest Man for Rehoboth Beach Burglaries

    Delaware State Police have arrested 60-year-old Craig Beckett, of Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, for burglary and related charges.

    On September 27, 2025, at approximately 11:45 a.m., troopers responded to 302 The Local, located at 19819 Coastal Highway in Rehoboth Beach, for a report of a burglary. When troopers arrived, they learned that earlier in the morning, a black male suspect, forced entry into an outdoor walk-in refrigerator behind the business, and stole a large quantity of food and alcoholic beverages valued at nearly $2,000.

    On October 13, 2025, at approximately 3:32 p.m., troopers responded to the same restaurant for a report of another burglary. During the investigation, troopers learned that at approximately 3:00 p.m., a black male suspect, wearing all black clothing, and carrying a white backpack, forced entry to the outdoor walk-in refrigerator. Once inside the suspect stole food and fled the scene on a bicycle.

    Troopers searched the area and stopped a man, later identified as Craig Beckett, who matched the description of the suspect, riding a bicycle and carrying a backpack. While talking to Beckett, troopers learned the stolen food was in the backpack. He was arrested without incident and through investigative means, detectives identified Beckett as the suspect in the September burglary.

    Beckett was taken to Troop 7, where he was charged with the crimes listed below, arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2, and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on a $14,000 secured bond.

    Delaware State Police arrested 20-year-old Melleca Butler of Georgetown, Delaware, for multiple weapon-related felonies following a road rage incident in Georgetown yesterday morning.

    On October 10, 2025, at approximately 11:30 a.m., troopers responded to the area of Dupont Boulevard and Shortly Road for a report of a road rage incident involving a firearm. The investigation revealed that a GMC Yukon with Delaware registration pulled alongside the victim, a 49-year-old man from Houston, Delaware, while both vehicles were traveling southbound on Dupont Boulevard. Some type of road rage incident occurred, during which the driver of the Yukon displayed a handgun before continuing southbound. The suspect was described as black and wearing a blue hoodie and glasses.

    Troopers, assisted by officers from the Millsboro Police Department, patrolled the area and located the suspect vehicle near the intersection of Laurel Road and Dupont Boulevard in Millsboro. A traffic stop was conducted, and the driver, who matched the description provided, was identified as Melleca Butler. She was taken into custody without incident.

    A consent search of the vehicle revealed an unloaded handgun concealed between the driver’s seat and the center console. A computer inquiry revealed that Butler does not have a permit to carry a concealed deadly weapon.

    Butler was transported to Troop 4, where she was charged with the following crimes:

    • Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony (Felony)
    • Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon (Felony)
    • Aggravated Menacing (Felony)

    Delaware State Police have arrested 36-year-old Jeremy Cooper of Laurel, Delaware, for gun and drug charges following a traffic last night in Laurel.

    On October 9, 2025, at approximately 10:12 p.m., a trooper on patrol saw a Dodge Dakota traveling on Georgetown Road near Sussex Highway in Laurel with a registration violation. The trooper pulled the truck over in the parking lot of Hardee’s, located at 30759 Sussex Highway, and spoke to the driver, identified as Jeremy Cooper. While talking to Cooper, he did not provide registration or insurance information for the truck. After another computer check, troopers spoke to Cooper again and learned there was a sawed-off shotgun in the truck. He was detained without incident.

    During a search of the Dodge, troopers located the following items:

    • Sawed-off .410-gauge shotgun
    • .410-gauge, 12-gauge, and 20-gauge shotgun ammunition
    • Various rifle ammunition
    • 2 .556 caliber magazines
    • Approximately 0.1 grams of methamphetamines
    • Drug paraphernalia

    Cooper was arrested and taken to Troop 5, where he was charged with the crimes listed below, arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 7, and released on a $10,100 unsecured bond.

  • State Police Arrest Selbyville Man for Multiple Drug Offenses After Vehicle Pursuit

    Delaware State Police have arrested 27-year-old Jaquan Johnson of Selbyville, Delaware, for multiple felony drug charges following a pursuit and search warrant.

    On October 1, 2025, at approximately 7:00 p.m., members of the Sussex County Governor’s Task Force and Sussex County Drug Unit were conducting a drug investigation of Jaquan Johnson for the distribution of illegal narcotics at a property on the 34000 block of Bennett Road in Selbyville. During the investigation, detectives saw a white Ford Transit van, driven by Johnson, arrive, then leave the residence and travel southbound on Bennett Road near Roxana Road in Selbyville. A computer check showed that Johnson was wanted for arrest in Maryland and that he, and the van, were recently involved in a pursuit with police in Worcester County. Detectives pulled the van over on Bethany Road and spoke to Johnson. When he was told to exit the van, he refused and sped away.

    During the pursuit, the van drove in a reckless manner and at a high rate of speed on several area streets and roads. Detectives successfully deployed stop sticks, but the van failed to stop and later collided with a Chevrolet Equinox at Lighthouse Road and South Main Street in Selbyville. After the collision, the van continued to flee, coming to a stop on Main Street in Frankford. Detectives saw Johnson throw a potato chip bag when he ran from the van, and he was ultimately taken into custody after a taser deployment. Detectives recovered the potato chip bag and found that it contained approximately 60.07 grams of cocaine, approximately 10.89 grams of crack cocaine, along with 85 bars and 33 partial bars of Xanax. During a search of the van, detectives found drug paraphernalia.

    The driver of the Equinox involved in the collision was not injured.

    After the pursuit, detectives obtained and executed a search warrant at the Bennett Road property. During the search warrant, detectives found the following items:

    • Unused wax paper bags
    • Inkpad and stamp
    • Small rubber bands
    • Cutting agents
    • Digital scales
    • Blender jar with cocaine residue
    • Pyrex dishes
    • Clear Ziploc style baggies
    • 20 rounds of .223 caliber ammunition

    Johnson was arrested and taken to Troop 4, where he was charged with the crimes listed below, arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 7, and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on a $127,617 secured bond.

  • State Police Arrest Magnolia Man for Vehicular Assault Following a Three-Vehicle Crash in Bethany Beach

    Delaware State Police have arrested 22-year-old Benjamin Herrera of Magnolia, Delaware, for vehicular assault, DUI, and other charges following a three-vehicle crash that occurred last night in Bethany Beach.

    On October 2, 2025, at approximately 7:55 p.m., troopers responded to a three-vehicle crash on Coastal Highway near Beach Cove Square, north of Bethany Beach. When troopers arrived, they contacted Benjamin Herrera, identified as the driver of a Dodge Challenger, involved in the crash. While speaking to him, troopers smelled an odor of alcoholic beverage coming from his breath, and he showed multiple signs of impairment.

    The preliminary crash investigation revealed that the Challenger was traveling southbound on Coastal Highway near Beach Cove Square, in a reckless manner and at an apparent high rate of speed. At the same time, a Nissan Frontier was traveling southbound, in the left lane on Coastal Highway and a Chevrolet Colorado was also traveling southbound, in the right lane, both ahead of the Challenger. The Challenger struck the Nissan, pushing it into the right lane, and as a result, the Nissan struck the Chevrolet, causing it to overturn.

    The driver of the Chevrolet, a 59-year-old man from New Castle, Delaware, was taken to an area hospital with serious injuries.

    The driver of the Nissan, a 44-year-old man and a 7-year-old passenger, both from Ocean View, Delaware, refused transport to the hospital.

    Coastal Highway southbound was closed while the scene was investigated and cleared.

    Herrera was taken to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. While being transported by ambulance, he threatened a paramedic and an EMT. After he was released from the hospital, he was arrested and taken to Troop 4, where he was charged with the crimes listed below, arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 7, and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on a $6,300 cash bond.

    • Vehicular Assault 1st Degree – Drive Under the Influence Negligent Injury (Felony)

  • State Police Arrest Two Dover Men Following Pursuit in Stolen Vehicle

    Delaware State Police have arrested 18-year-old Kenneth Seward and 19-year-old Jaziah Wilson, both from Dover, Delaware, on multiple charges, and are searching for 20-year-old Makhai Miller, also from Dover, Delaware, following a pursuit in a stolen vehicle on Friday night.

    On September 27, 2025, at approximately 10:00 p.m., a trooper on patrol in Dover saw a stolen silver Mitsubishi Outlander turning off POW/MIA Parkway and accelerating at a high rate of speed southbound on South Dupont Highway. The Mitsubishi then made a U-turn and traveled northbound on South Dupont Highway, again at a high rate of speed. When the trooper tried to pull the Outlander over, it sped away. During the pursuit, the Outlander drove in a reckless manner and a high rate of speed on several Dover area streets and roads. After coming to a stop in Capital Park, the three occupants in the vehicle ran away. Troopers searched the area and ultimately located two of the occupants, identified as Kenneth Seward and Jaziah Wilson. They were taken into custody without further incident. During a search of the Outlander, troopers found a loaded AR-style rifle with a high-capacity magazine, and property belonging to the third occupant, identified as Makhai Miller. Troopers have obtained a warrant for Miller’s arrest and are working to locate him.

    Seward was arrested and taken to Troop 3, where he was charged with the crimes listed below, arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 7, and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on a $66,500 cash bond.

    On September 26, 2025, at approximately 11:21 p.m., troopers responded to a single-vehicle crash on the 6500 block of Hickman Road in Greenwood. When troopers arrived, they contacted Ivory Brown, identified as the driver of a Ford Edge, involved in the crash. While speaking to him, troopers smelled an odor of alcoholic beverages and observed other signs of impairment. Brown was treated by EMS but refused transport to the hospital. After Standardized Field Sobriety Tests, he was taken into custody without incident.

    The preliminary crash investigation revealed that the Ford was traveling on Hickman Road near Woodbridge Road, exited the roadway, entered a ditch, and overturned an unknown number of times. As a result, two of the five passengers in the car were ejected.

    Two passengers in the car, a 27-year-old man and a 25-year-old woman, both from Milford, Delaware, were taken to an area hospital with serious injuries.

    The other passengers, two 19-year-old men, and a 6-year-old child, were taken to an area hospital with minor injuries.

    Brown was taken to Troop 5, where he was charged with the crimes listed below, arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 3, and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on a $10,402 secured bond.

    The other passengers, two 19-year-old men, and a 6-year-old child, were taken to an area hospital with minor injuries.

    Brown was taken to Troop 5, where he was charged with the crimes listed below, arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 3, and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on a $10,402 secured bond.

  • State Police Arrest Delmar Man for Vehicular Assault Following a Two-Vehicle Crash in Greenwood

    Delaware State Police have arrested 19-year-old Jayden Waters of Delmar, Maryland, for vehicular assault, DUI, and related traffic charges following a two-vehicle head-on crash that occurred last night in Greenwood.

    On September 26, 2025, at approximately 11:05 p.m., troopers responded to a two-vehicle, head-on crash on Seashore Highway near Adamsville Road in Greenwood. When troopers arrived, they contacted Jayden Waters, identified as the driver of a GMC pick-up truck, involved in the crash. While speaking to him, troopers smelled an odor of alcoholic beverage coming from his breath.

    The preliminary crash investigation revealed that the GMC pick-up was traveling westbound on Seashore Highway near Adamsville Road, attempting to pass two tractor-trailers. At the same time, a Chevrolet Tahoe was traveling eastbound on Seashore Highway near Adamsville Road. As a result, the GMC struck the Tahoe head-on.

    The driver of the Tahoe, a 43-year-old man from Georgetown, Delaware, and a 13-year-old passenger, were taken to an area hospital with serious injuries. Another passenger, a 4o-year old woman, also from Georgetown, Delaware, was taken to an area hospital where she was treated and released. Two children in the Tahoe were not injured.

    Waters was taken to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

    After being released from the hospital, Waters was arrested and taken to Troop 5. He was charged with the crimes listed below, arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 3, and released after posting a $4,501 secured bond.

    Beginning in November 2024, troopers began investigating James Gustafson, Jr., for home improvement fraud. During the investigation, troopers learned that Gustafson had signed a contract with the 60-year-old victim to do construction work and received $30,000 in payment.   • State Police Arrest Dover Man for Liquor Store Burglary

    Delaware State Police have arrested 36-year-old Robert Young, Jr. of Dover, Delaware, for burglary and related charges.

    On September 17, 2025, at approximately 7:57 a.m., troopers responded to Woodside Liquor Warehouse, located at 5504 South Dupont Highway in Dover, for a report of a burglary. When troopers arrived, they learned that during the overnight hours, an unknown suspect forced entry through a window and removed several bottles of liquor. During the investigation, detectives learned of a burglary, similar in nature, that occurred in the City of Dover on September 18th. State Police Detectives, working with Dover Police Department Detectives, identified Robert Young, Jr. as the suspect in the burglary and obtained a warrant for his arrest.

    On September 24, 2025, Young was arrested at Sussex Correctional Institution. He was charged with the crimes listed below, arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2, and released on his own recognizance, however, remains committed at Sussex Correctional Institution on the other burglary charges.

  • State Police Arrest Man for Felony Assault Following Amazon Stabbing

    Delaware State Police arrested 35-year-old Taamir Smith of New Castle for felony assault in connection with a stabbing at Amazon last month.

    On August 28, 2025, at approximately 11:00 a.m., troopers responded to the Amazon delivery center located at 2421 Bear Corbitt Road for a reported stabbing. When troopers arrived, they found a 23-year-old man who had suffered multiple stab wounds. Troopers provided first aid until emergency medical services arrived and transported the victim to an area hospital with serious injuries.

    Through investigative leads, detectives identified Smith as the suspect responsible for the assault and obtained an arrest warrant. On September 23, 2025, members of the Delaware State Police and U.S. Marshals located Smith in the area of 24th Street in Wilmington. He was taken into custody and transported to Troop 2, where he was charged with the offenses listed below, arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2, and committed to Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on a $200,000 cash bond.

  • State Police Arrest Milford Man for a Stolen Motorcycle Following Crash

    Delaware State Police have arrested 20-year-old Shymier Olden of Milford, Delaware, for multiple offenses following a motorcycle crash Monday afternoon in Milton.

    On September 22, 2025, at approximately 3:17 p.m., troopers responded to Issacs Road north of Milton-Ellendale Highway for a single vehicle motorcycle crash. The crash investigation revealed that a Suzuki GSX-600L, driven by Shymier Olden, was traveling northbound on Issacs Road when he failed to negotiate a curve and exited the east side of the roadway. Troopers learned that before the crash, Olden was driving aggressively, passing on the shoulder, and traveling at a high rate of speed.

    A computer check revealed that the Suzuki was unregistered, uninsured, and reported stolen in 2023.

    Olden was taken to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. After being released from the hospital, he was arrested and taken to Troop 7, where he was charged with the crimes listed below, arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2, and released on his own recognizance.

    Delaware State Police have arrested 34-year-old David Waddington of Milford, Delaware and 71-year-old Roger Spurbeck of New Holland, Pennsylvania for reckless endangering and related charges following a shooting incident that occurred last night in Milford.

    On September 23, 2025, at approximately 7:48 p.m., troopers responded to the 20000 block of Cedar Beach Road in Milford for a report of a reckless endangering. When troopers arrived, they learned that a residence, occupied by two adults, had been struck by gunfire. No one was injured. The investigation revealed that two men, identified as David Waddington and Roger Spurbeck, were shooting in the backyard of a nearby residence when their gunfire struck the occupied residence.

    Waddington and Spurbeck were taken into custody without incident and taken to Troop 7 where they were charged with multiple crimes.

    Waddington was charged with the crimes listed below, arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 7, and released on a $76,000 unsecured bond.

  • State Police Arrest Greenwood Man for Two Knife-Point Robberies in Milford

    Delaware State Police have arrested 29-year-old Terrell Boyce of Greenwood, Delaware for robbery and related offenses following two knife-point robberies in Milford.

    On September 14, 2025, at approximately 1:30 p.m., troopers responded to a reported robbery at Shawnee Country Store, located at 6994 Shawnee Road in Milford. The investigation revealed that two employees and a customer were inside the store when the suspect jumped over the counter and displayed a knife. He demanded an employee open the cash register, then removed an undisclosed amount of cash before fleeing the scene. No one was physically injured during the incident.

    On September 19, 2025, at approximately 8:00 p.m., troopers responded to Valero Shore Stop, located at 1885 Bay Road in Milford, for a reported robbery. A preliminary investigation revealed that an unknown suspect entered the business, brandished a knife, and demanded that the clerk open the cash registers. The suspect stole an undisclosed amount of money and cigars before fleeing the scene. No one was physically injured during the incident.

    Through investigative means, Delaware State Police Detectives, working with Dover Police Department Detectives, identified Boyce as the suspect for the two robberies in Milford and a robbery that occurred in the City of Dover.

    Detectives obtained a warrant for Boyce’s arrest and on September 21, 2025, Dover Police Department arrested Boyce without incident. He was taken to Troop 3 where he was charged with multiple crimes.

    Boyce was charged with the crimes listed below, arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 7, and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on a $110,000 cash bond.

    Delaware State Police have arrested 55-year-old Louis Bland, Jr. of Georgetown, Delaware, for burglary and felony theft.

    On September 9, 2025, at approximately 3:40 p.m., troopers responded to a residence on 20000 block of Wilson Road in Georgetown for a report of a burglary. When troopers arrived, they learned that an unknown suspect entered a 67-year-old man’s residence, while he was sleeping earlier in the day, and stole his wallet. During the investigation, detectives learned that the victim’s credit card had been used at an area convenience store the same day. Through investigative means, troopers identified Louis Bland, Jr. as the suspect and obtained a warrant for his arrest.

    On September 18, 2025, Bland was arrested by Millsboro Police Department for an unrelated incident. State Police charged him with the crimes listed below; he was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2 and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on a $26,000 cash bond.

  • State Police Arrest Pennsylvania Man in Road Rage Incident

    Delaware State Police arrested 30-year-old Robert George, of Wallingford, Pennsylvania, following a road rage incident that occurred on Monday evening in Wilmington.

    On September 15, 2025, at approximately 6:00 p.m., troopers were contacted by a 45-year-old Wilmington man who reported a road rage encounter on Concord Pike in the area of Concord Mall.

    A preliminary investigation revealed that the victim was traveling southbound in the left lane of Concord Pike when a Chevrolet Colorado, driven by George, accelerated and abruptly changed into the same lane, cutting off the victim’s vehicle. Both vehicles continued toward the intersection of Concord Pike and Rocky Run Boulevard, where George entered the left-turn lane to access Widener University Delaware Law School.

    The victim pulled alongside George’s vehicle, and a verbal exchange took place between the two. During the encounter, George displayed a firearm, prompting the victim to contact the police. After the light turned green, George turned into the university’s parking lot.

    Troopers responded to the scene and located the suspect’s vehicle, which was unoccupied. A short time later, George was observed exiting a building on campus and returning to his vehicle. Troopers conducted a traffic stop, during which George was detained without incident. A search of the vehicle led to the discovery of a handgun and a valid concealed carry permit. The victim later positively identified George in a photo lineup.

    George was taken to Troop 1, where he was charged with the offenses listed below, arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 11, and committed to Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on a $25,000 secured bond.

  • State Police Arrest Lewes Man for Home Improvement Fraud

    Delaware State Police have arrested 63-year-old Jeffrey Brower of Lewes, Delaware for home improvement fraud.

    On September 2, 2025, troopers began investigating Jeffrey Brower for home improvement fraud. During the investigation, troopers learned that Brower had signed a contract with a 66-year-old victim from Lewes in October 2024 to do HVAC work. The victim paid Brower $7,000, but the work was never started, and the victim’s money was not reimbursed.

    Troopers obtained a warrant for Brower’s arrest, and on September 11, 2025, he turned himself in at Troop 7. He was charged with the crime listed below, arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2, and released on a $5,000 unsecured bond.

  • Troopers Arrest Felton Man for Theft of a Motor Vehicle

    Delaware State Police have arrested 18-year-old Adam Green of Felton, Delaware, for theft of a motor vehicle Friday morning.

    On September 12, 2025, at approximately 6:30 a.m., troopers responded to a residence on Cabin Ridge Road in Felton for a report of a stolen car. Upon arriving, troopers learned a 2016 Dodge Journey had been stolen from the driveway overnight, with the keys left inside. A credit card inside the car was also used to make an unauthorized purchase. Through investigative means, troopers identified Adam Green as the suspect. At approximately 10:51 a.m., troopers were notified that the reported stolen car was at a residence on Nathaniel Mitchell Road in Dover. Troopers responded, took Green into custody without incident, and recovered the Dodge and keys. A computer check revealed that Green failed to follow the court order curfew and had cut off his GPS ankle monitor during the early hours.

    Green was taken to Troop 3, where he was charged with the crimes listed below, arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2, and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on a $3,501 cash bond.

  • Troopers Arrest Seaford Man for DUI and Felony Gun Offenses

    Delaware State Police have arrested 38-year-old Duonne Green of Seaford, Delaware, for felony gun offenses and DUI following a traffic stop in Ellendale.

    On September 9, 2025, at approximately 10:32 p.m., a trooper on patrol saw a white Hyundai Sonata traveling on South Old State Road and New Hope Road with the driver not wearing a seatbelt. A computer check showed that registration on the car was suspended for no insurance. The trooper initiated a traffic stop and spoke to the driver, later identified as Duonne Green. While troopers spoke to Green, he showed multiple signs of impairment. After he was asked to exit the car, troopers saw a handgun in his pocket and detained him without incident. A computer check showed that Green is a person prohibited from possessing a firearm and/or ammunition and has a suspended driver’s license.

    Green was taken to Troop 7, where he refused Standardized Field Sobriety Tests. He was charged with the crimes listed below, arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 7, and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on a $21,202 cash bond.

  • State Police Arrest Two Following Methamphetamine Investigation

    Delaware State Police Troop 2 Drug Task Force (DTF) arrested 26-year-old Jamiyah Dennis of Boothwyn, Pennsylvania, and 19-year-old Kaliyah Barnes of Newark, Delaware, following a months-long multi-agency drug investigation in New Castle County.

    Over the past several months, detectives from the Delaware State Police Troop 2 DTF, with assistance from Troop 2 Governor’s Task Force, Homeland Security Investigations – Wilmington, and the Delaware County Narcotics Unit, conducted an investigation into Dennis. During that time, Dennis sold investigators multiple quantities of methamphetamine totaling approximately 310 grams. Based on the results of the investigation, detectives obtained a warrant for Dennis’ arrest on September 4, 2025.

    On September 8, 2025, investigators contacted Dennis in the 100 block of West 41st Street in Wilmington. Dennis arrived in the area carrying a large plastic bag believed to contain narcotics, while Kaliyah Barnes drove the Chevrolet Traverse that took her to the location.

    As officers approached to take Dennis into custody on the active warrant, she attempted to flee on foot while carrying the suspected narcotics. After a brief foot pursuit, troopers took Dennis into custody. During the arrest, she resisted and later attempted to force her way out of the police vehicle, during which she kicked a trooper.

    Following a search of Dennis and her belongings, troopers recovered approximately 456 grams (1 pound) of suspected methamphetamine.

    The Chevrolet Traverse was stopped a short time later, and Barnes was taken into custody without incident. The investigation revealed that Barnes assisted Dennis by taking her to Wilmington, knowing Dennis was in possession of methamphetamine.

    Both Dennis and Barnes were transported to Troop 2 and charged with multiple crimes.

    Dennis was charged with the offenses listed below, arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2, and committed to Baylor Women’s Correctional Institution on a $212,000 cash bond.

  • Troopers Arrest Frankford Man for 7th Offense DUI

    Delaware State Police have arrested 64-year-old Garry Phillips of Frankford, Delaware, for 7th offense felony DUI and other traffic offenses following a traffic stop last night in Ellendale.

    On September 9, 2025, at approximately 9:00 p.m., troopers on patrol saw a silver GMC Yukon traveling eastbound on Milton-Ellendale Highway near Sharon’s Road, slow down, speed up, and driving in the middle of the road. Troopers pulled the Yukon over and spoke to the driver, identified as Garry Phillips, who showed signs of impairment. Troopers administered Standardized Field Sobriety Tests, and after the tests Phillips was arrested for driving under the influence. A computer check showed that Phillips had six prior DUI-related convictions, and a suspended driver’s license.

    Phillips was taken to Troop 7, where he was charged with the crimes listed below, arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 7, and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on a $8,501 cash bond.

  • *Update – Suspect Arrested* State Police Detectives Investigating Armed Robbery in New Castle

    Delaware State Police have arrested 21-year-old Hasan Gordon in connection with an armed robbery that occurred on Labor Day at a Gulf gas station in New Castle.

    On September 1, 2025, at approximately 12:22 p.m., troopers responded to a report of a robbery at the Gulf gas station located at 752 West Basin Road in New Castle. The preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect entered the business, displayed a handgun, and demanded money from the register. The employee complied, and the suspect fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of cash. No injuries were reported.

    Through investigative leads, detectives identified the suspect as Hasan Gordon and obtained a warrant for his arrest. On September 7, 2025, he was located by the Wilmington Police Department and taken into custody without incident.

    Gordon was charged with the following crimes:

    • Robbery First Degree (Felony)
    • Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony (Felony)

    He was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 11 and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on a $120,000 secured bond.

    Delaware State Police have arrested a 19-year-old Avery Quartlebaum of Claymont in connection with a robbery that occurred last month at a McDonald’s in Claymont.

    Details of the initial investigation and the arrest of a 17-year-old suspect were previously provided in an update.

    On September 2, 2025, Avery Quartlebaum turned himself in at Delaware State Police Troop 1. He was charged with the following offenses:

    • Robbery Second Degree (Felony)
    • Conspiracy Second Degree (Felony)

    Quartlebaum was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2 and released on a $5,000 unsecured bond.

  • State Police Arrest Selbyville Man for Reckless Endangering and Gun Offenses

    Delaware State Police have arrested 44-year-old Justin Glowacki of Selbyville, Delaware, for reckless endangering and gun offenses Saturday night in Selbyville.

    On August 30, 2025, at approximately 9:00 p.m., troopers responded to a residence on the 12000 block of Knolls Lane in Selbyville for a report of a reckless endangering incident. Upon arrival, troopers learned that a man, later identified as Justin Glowacki, was shooting a firearm, while screaming and cursing outside of his residence, in the direction of a home occupied by two adults. The preliminary investigation revealed Glowacki had fired the rimfire rifle at his own feet and towards the direction of the residence on Knolls Lane. Troopers contacted Glowacki, who was highly intoxicated, at his residence on the 34000 block of Brinker Mansion Road. He was taken into custody without incident.

    Glowacki was taken to Troop 4, where he was charged with the crimes listed below, arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 7, and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on a $24,000 cash bond.

  • State Police Arrest Pennsylvania Man for Sixth Offense DUI

    Delaware State Police have arrested 68-year-old David Tillman, of Chester Township, Pennsylvania, for 6th Offense DUI on Saturday evening.

    On August 30, 2025, at approximately 10:00 p.m., troopers responded to the area of I-95 northbound near Marsh Road in Wilmington for a report of a vehicle driven off the roadway and became disabled. Upon arrival, troopers contacted the driver, identified as David Tillman, who was standing beside the tan Ford Explorer. Troopers recognized Tillman from previous contact including a recent DUI arrest. During the contact with Tillman, the trooper saw signs of drug impairment. Tillman declined to complete Standardized Field Sobriety Tests and was taken into custody without incident for driving under the influence of drugs. A computer check showed that Tillman had five prior DUI convictions.

    Tillman was taken to Troop 1, where he was charged with the crimes listed below, arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 11, and committed to Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on a $10,001 secured bond.

  • Search Warrant in Millsboro Leads to Arrest for Weapon and Drug Offenses

    Delaware State Police have arrested a 38-year-old Djuan Sheppard from Millsboro, Delaware, for felony drug and weapon charges following a search warrant on Friday in Millsboro.

    On August 29, 2025, members of the Sussex County Drug Unit, Sussex County Governor’s Task Force, and the Delaware State Police Special Operations Response Team, executed a search warrant at a residence on the 27000 block of Mount Joy Road in Millsboro. The search warrant was obtained following an investigation of Djuan Sheppard for the distribution of illegal narcotics from the residence. During the search warrant, four adults, including Sheppard, were detained in the residence.

    A search of the residence led to the discovery of the following items:

    • Approximately 44.81 grams of crack cocaine
    • Approximately .28 grams of cocaine
    • Digital scales
    • 9mm ammunition

    Sheppard, who is a convicted felon and prohibited from possessing a firearm and/or ammunition, was taken to Troop 4, where he was charged with the crimes listed below, arraigned by Justice of Peace Court 2, and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on a $45,100 secured bond.

  • State Police Arrest Maryland Man for Fifth Offense DUI

    Delaware State Police have arrested 51-year-old Todd Kellner, of Westminster, Maryland, for 5th Offense DUI following a traffic stop Saturday night.

    On August 29, 2025, at approximately 9:00 p.m., troopers were called to the area of Seashore Highway and Sussex Highway in Bridgeville for a report of a black GMC Yukon driving at low speed in the left lane, swerving all over the roadway, and the driver possibly under the influence of drugs or alcohol. The trooper located the GMC on Sussex Highway southbound near Redden Road, driving in the left lane below the posted speed limit and initiated a traffic stop.

    The trooper contacted the driver, identified as Todd Kellner, and administered Standardized Field Sobriety Test where Kellner showed numerous signs of impairment. Kellner was subsequently taken into custody without incident for driving under the influence of alcohol. A computer check showed that Kellner had four prior DUI convictions.

    Kellner was taken to Troop 5, where he was charged with the crime listed below, arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 3, and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on a $6,000 secured bond.

  • Update – One Suspect Arrested, One Still Wanted in Robbery at Claymont Area McDonald’s

    Delaware State Police have arrested a 17-year-old male in connection with a robbery that occurred last month. A second suspect remains at large.

    On July 8, 2025, at approximately 4:30 p.m., troopers responded to a report of a robbery at McDonald’s, located at 2702 Philadelphia Pike in Claymont. The investigation revealed that two unknown males met with the victim inside the restaurant to purchase an item the victim had listed for sale. Before the transaction was completed, one suspect grabbed the victim’s bag, leading to a struggle. During the altercation, one suspect grabbed at his waistband and implied he had a firearm. The victim released the bag, and both suspects fled on foot toward Philadelphia Pike with the victim’s property. The victim was not injured during the incident.

    Through investigative efforts, detectives identified the suspects as a 17-year-old male and 19-year-old Avery Quartlebaum, both of Claymont. Detectives obtained arrest warrants for each.

    On August 26, 2025, the 17-year-old turned himself in at Troop 1, accompanied by a parent. He was charged with the offenses listed below, arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 11, and remanded to the Department of Services for Children, Youth & Their Families on a $ 7,000 secured bond.

    Quartlebaum remains wanted on the following charges:

  • *Update – Suspect Arrested* State Police Detectives Investigating Shooting in Dover

    Delaware State Police have arrested 19-year-old Brandon Carter of Dover in connection with a shooting last month.

    On July 11, 2025, at approximately 5:20 a.m., troopers responded to Washington Place in Dover for a report of shots fired. When they arrived, troopers learned that unknown suspect(s) had fired multiple rounds at an occupied residence. Five adults and three children were inside the home at the time. Thankfully, no one was injured.

    Detectives from Delaware State Police Troop 3 Criminal Investigations Unit continued their investigation and later identified Carter as the shooter. By that time, he was already being held at Sussex Correctional Institution (SCI) on an unrelated matter. On August 22, 2025, detectives responded to SCI and obtained arrest warrants. The following day, he was formally charged with the offenses listed below, arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 7, and held at SCI on a $48,050 secured bond.

  • State Police Arrest Man for 4th Offense DUI and Multiple Traffic Violations

    Delaware State Police have arrested 54-year-old Nathaniel Spencer, of Lewes, Delaware, for 4th Offense DUI and numerous traffic-related offenses following a traffic stop last night.

    On August 23, 2025, at approximately 10 p.m., a trooper on patrol observed a white Acura traveling eastbound in the westbound lane of Robinsonville Road near Kendale Road. The vehicle then crossed back over into the correct lane of travel. The trooper initiated a traffic stop, activating emergency lights to pull the car over.

    The driver, identified as Nathaniel Spencer, opened the door and got out of the vehicle as the trooper initiated the stop. The trooper observed signs of impairment and instructed Spencer to return to his car, which he did. Upon contact, the trooper smelled a strong odor of alcoholic beverages and continued to observe additional signs of impairment. The trooper also noticed the Acura had a shredded front tire and was riding on the rim.

    Based on these observations, the trooper conducted Standardized Field Sobriety Tests, which revealed further evidence of impairment. Spencer was taken into custody. A computer inquiry revealed that Spencer was under pre-trial conditions prohibiting him from driving or being in control of a vehicle. In addition, the trooper discovered that the vehicle was uninsured, the registration had expired, and Spencer’s driver’s license was revoked.

    Spencer was taken to Troop 7, where he was charged with the offenses listed below, arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 3, and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on $8400 cash bond.

  • State Police Arrest Dagsboro Man for Aggravated Menacing Following a Road Rage Incident in Milton

    Delaware State Police arrested 38-year-old Joshua Vickers of Dagsboro, Delaware for aggravated menacing and felony gun charges following a road rage incident that occurred on Coastal Highway in Milton yesterday.

    On August 21, 2025, at approximately 5:57 p.m., troopers responded to Eagle Crest Road near Coastal Highway in Milton for a report of a road rage incident involving a firearm. When troopers arrived, they learned that the victim was involved in a road rage incident on Coastal Highway northbound, near Eagle Crest Road, with a white Honda Pilot. During the incident, the driver of the Honda, later identified as Joshua Vickers, yelled and allegedly pointed a firearm at the victim. A short time later, troopers located the Honda and Vickers at Hudson Fields on Eagle Crest Road. He was detained without incident. During a search of the Honda, troopers found a 9mm handgun in the glove compartment, a 12-gauge shotgun, and 2 .22 caliber rifles.

    Vickers was arrested and taken to Troop 7, where he was charged with the crimes listed below, arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2, and released on a $30,100 unsecured bond.

  • *Update – Suspect Arrested* State Police Investigating Knifepoint Parking Lot Robbery at Kohl’s in Wilmington

    Delaware State Police have arrested 45-year-old Juan Carbajal of Newark, Delaware, for a knifepoint robbery that occurred on Wednesday in Kohl’s parking lot in Wilmington.

    On August 20, 2025, at approximately 6:50 p.m., troopers responded to a report of a knifepoint robbery in the parking lot of Kohl’s, located at 4437 Kirkwood Highway in Wilmington. The preliminary investigation revealed an unknown dark-skinned male suspect approached a woman, as she sat in her car, opened the door and demanded her property while pointing a knife at her. The victim complied, and the suspect fled in a white Dodge Ram pick-up truck towards Kirkwood Highway. The victim was not injured.

    Through investigative means, detectives identified Juan Carbajal as the suspect in the robbery and obtained a warrant for his arrest.

    On August 21, 2025, Carbajal was arrested and taken to Troop 6. He was charged with the crimes listed below, arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2, and committed to Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on a $50,000 cash bond.

  • State Police Arrest Man for Fourth Offense DUI Following Traffic Stop in Clayton

    Delaware State Police have arrested 40-year-old Tarazs Abrams, of Dover, Delaware, for his fourth offense DUI and multiple traffic violations following a traffic stop yesterday afternoon.

    On August 21, 2025, at approximately 3:30 p.m., a trooper observed a Nissan Altima traveling westbound on Seven Hickories Road near White Tail Run at a high rate of speed. A registration check revealed the vehicle’s license plate was fictitious. Before the trooper activated his emergency equipment, the car pulled over to the shoulder of the road.

    The trooper contacted the driver, identified as Tarazs Abrams, who was unable to provide a driver’s license or any vehicle documents. While speaking with Abrams, the trooper smelled an odor of alcoholic beverages and noticed signs of impairment. Abrams refused Standardized Field Sobriety Tests and was placed in the patrol car, where the odor of alcohol and marijuana became stronger.

    A search of Abrams’ car revealed several opened and unopened mini liquor bottles, marijuana residue, and drug paraphernalia. A computer inquiry confirmed that Abrams had three prior DUI-related convictions.

    Abrams was taken to Troop 9, where the trooper obtained a search warrant for a blood draw. He was charged with the offenses listed below, arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 7, and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on a $5,551 secured bond.

  • State Police Arrest New Castle Man on Felony Drug and Weapon Charges

    Delaware State Police have arrested 44-year-old Kyrob Smith of New Castle, Delaware, on multiple felony charges following an attempted traffic stop that led to a foot pursuit and the recovery of drugs and weapons.

    On August 20, 2025, at approximately 11:00 p.m., a trooper observed a Chevrolet Malibu stopped at a red light on Northeast Boulevard in Wilmington with expired registration. As the vehicle turned left onto East 26th Street, the trooper activated his emergency equipment to initiate a traffic stop. The vehicle failed to stop and continued traveling until it reached the 1000 block of East 24th Street, where it finally came to a stop.

    The driver, later identified as Kyrob Smith, exited the vehicle and fled on foot. The trooper gave multiple commands to stop, but Smith continued running and entered a residence later determined to belong to an acquaintance. The trooper pursued him into the residence and attempted to take him into custody. Smith resisted arrest and repeatedly reached for his waistband. During the struggle, the trooper confirmed that Smith was armed with a firearm. Smith continued to resist and was eventually subdued with a Taser and taken into custody without further incident.

    A loaded .40 caliber handgun was recovered from Smith. A search of the vehicle revealed a 12-gauge shotgun, additional ammunition, and approximately 45 doses of methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA), 30 grams of marijuana, and drug paraphernalia.

    Smith was transported to Troop 1, where he was charged with the following offenses:

    • Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony (Felony)
    • Possession of a Deadly Weapon by a Person Prohibited – 2 counts (Felony)
    • Possession with Intent to Deliver Controlled Substance Tier 2 (Felony)

  • Troopers Arrest Smyrna Man for 5th Offense Felony DUI Following Crash Investigation

    Delaware State Police have arrested 53-year-old Wesley Smith of Smyrna, Delaware, for 5th offense felony DUI and other traffic offenses following a crash investigation yesterday in Middletown.

    On August 20, 2025, at approximately 12:48 p.m., troopers responded to Summit Bridge Road near Churchtown Road for a personal injury vehicle crash. When troopers arrived, they learned that a Nissan Frontier, driven by Wesley Smith, was traveling southbound on Summit Bridge Road near Churchtown Road when it left the southbound lane and entered the northbound lane. The Nissan then re-entered the southbound lane of Summit Bridge Road and struck a Chevrolet Equinox, causing it to overturn.

    The driver of the Chevrolet, a 35-year-old woman from Middletown, Delaware, was taken to an area hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

    While Smith was being treated by EMS, troopers observed signs of impairment, and he was taken to an area hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. When troopers contacted Smith at the hospital, he attempted to run away but was ultimately taken into custody. A computer check showed that Smith had four prior DUI-related convictions.

    Smith was taken to Troop 9, where he was charged with the crimes listed below, arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2, and committed to Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on a secured bond.

    Delaware State Police have arrested a 42-year-old Troy Hudson from Selbyville, Delaware, for felony drug and gun charges following a search warrant yesterday in Selbyville.

    On August 19, 2025, members of the Sussex County Drug Unit, Sussex County Governor’s Task Force, and Department of Correction – Probation and Parole, executed a search warrant at a residence on the 31000 block of Polly Branch Road in Selbyville. The search warrant was obtained following an investigation of Troy Hudson for the distribution of illegal narcotics from the residence. During the search warrant, Hudson was detained in the residence. A child was also in the residence at the time.

    A search of the residence led to the discovery of the following items:

    • Approximately 91.22 grams of cocaine
    • Approximately 52.66 grams of crack cocaine
    • Approximately 9.78 grams of heroin
    • 9mm handgun and ammunition
    • .32 caliber handgun and ammunition
    • Short double barrel shotgun
    • 2 12-gauge shotguns

  • State Police Arrest Woman for Stabbing Incident in New Castle

    Delaware State Police Detectives have arrested 32-year-old Tanekqua Stanford of New Castle, Delaware for felony offenses following a stabbing incident that occurred in New Castle that left one man injured.

    On August 18, 2025, at approximately 2:30 p.m., troopers responded to Best Knight Inn, located at 1200 West Avenue in New Castle, for a report of a stabbing. When troopers arrived, they learned that a male victim had been stabbed by a female suspect, later identified as Tanekqua Stanford. The victim was taken by ambulance to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The investigation revealed that while the victim was talking to Stanford and three other people, she removed a pocketknife from the victim’s pocket. When the victim confronted her about returning the knife, she stabbed him in the arm. Stanford was located a short time later and taken into custody without incident.

    Stanford was arrested and taken to Troop 2, where she was charged with the crimes listed below, arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2, and committed to Delores J. Baylor Women’s Correctional Institution on a $61,000 cash bond.

    Delaware State Police have arrested 57-year-old Vincent Buckwash, of Wilmington, Delaware, a former teacher, on felony charges of unlawful sexual contact and sexual abuse of a child following an investigation at Anna P. Mote Elementary School in Wilmington.

    In May 2024, the administration at Anna P. Mote Elementary School and the Delaware Division of Family Services notified the Delaware State Police of several reported incidents involving a teacher inappropriately touching multiple students. Immediately after the allegations were reported, the school district removed Buckwash from the school, and he did not return. He subsequently elected to retire on July 1, 2024. During the investigation, detectives learned that during the 2023-2024 school year, Buckwash, who was employed as a teacher at the time, inappropriately touched five students on multiple occasions.

    After a thorough investigation and consultation with the Delaware Department of Justice, warrants for Buckwash’s arrest were issued on August 14, 2025. He turned himself in at Troop 2 the same day. He was charged with the crimes listed below, arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2, and released after posting a $30,000 secured bond.

  • State Police Arrest Smyrna Man After Stolen Vehicle Pursuit

    Delaware State Police have arrested 37-year-old Adrian Waters of Smyrna, Delaware, on multiple charges following a pursuit of a stolen vehicle early Tuesday morning.

    On August 12, 2025, at approximately 1:23 a.m., a Caroline County Sheriff’s Office deputy saw a Mazda CX-5 that was reported stolen through the Smyrna Police Department traveling on Halltown Road near Crown Stone Road, near the Maryland – Delaware state line. The deputy pulled it over and contacted the driver, identified as Adrian Waters, who was wanted on felony charges from Smyrna Police Department. During the traffic stop, Waters sped away. In the ensuing pursuit, the Mazda entered Delaware and came to a stop on Westville Road after troopers deployed stop sticks. Waters was taken into custody after the Mazda collided with a fully-marked State Police Tahoe. The trooper was not injured.

    During a search of the stolen Mazda, troopers found an Oxycodone pill and drug paraphernalia. Waters showed signs of impairment, and he was taken to an area hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

    After being released from the hospital, Waters was arrested and taken to Troop 3. He was charged with the crimes listed below, arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 7, and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on a $23,900 cash bond.

  • State Police Arrest Wilmington Man for Vehicular Assault Following a Two-Vehicle Crash in Bear

    Delaware State Police have arrested 39-year-old Marcus Simpson of Wilmington, Delaware, for vehicular assault, DUI, and felony gun charges following a two-vehicle crash that occurred Sunday in Bear.

    On August 10, 2025, at approximately 1:01 a.m., troopers responded to a two-vehicle crash on Bear-Christiana Road near Christiana Meadows. When troopers arrived, they contacted Marcus Simpson, identified as the driver of a Tesla Model Y, involved in the crash. While speaking to him, troopers smelled an odor of alcoholic beverages, observed other signs of impairment, and discovered a firearm in his waistband.

    The preliminary crash investigation revealed that the Tesla was traveling northbound on Bear-Christiana Road approaching Christiana Meadows at an apparent high rate of speed. At the same time, a Honda Insight was traveling westbound from Christiana Meadows and proceeded through a red light while turning left to travel southbound on Bear-Christiana Road. As a result, the Tesla struck the Honda, splitting it in half and ejecting the driver.

    The driver of the Honda, a 34-year-old man from New Castle, Delaware, was taken to an area hospital with critical injuries.

    Simpson was taken to an area hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

    After being released from the hospital, Simpson was arrested and taken to Troop 2. He was charged with the crimes listed below, arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 11, and released after posting a $44,150 secured bond.

    On August 11, 2025, at approximately 1:24 a.m., a trooper on patrol saw a Lincoln MKS speeding southbound on Dupont Boulevard near Delaware Avenue in Frankford. As the trooper was preparing to pull the car over, the driver turned the headlights off and then back on. The trooper pulled the car over and spoke to the driver, identified as Demetrius Daniels. While speaking to him, the trooper saw what appeared to be an extended handgun magazine concealed between the passenger’s seat and center console. Daniels was detained without incident and during a search of the car, troopers located the following items:

    • Loaded 9mm handgun with an extended magazine and ammunition
    • 9mm magazine
    • Personal use amount of marijuana
    • Digital scale

  • Troopers Arrest Harrington Man for 6th Offense DUI

    Delaware State Police have arrested 61-year-old Paul Messick of Harrington, Delaware, for 6th offense felony DUI and other traffic offenses following a traffic stop yesterday in Felton.

    On August 11, 2025, at approximately 6:30 p.m., troopers on patrol saw a silver Chevrolet Traverse traveling on Holly Spring Road near Lords Corner Road with no license plate. Troopers pulled the Traverse over and spoke to the driver, identified as Paul Messick, who showed signs of impairment. Troopers administered Standardized Field Sobriety Tests, and after the tests he was arrested for driving under the influence. A computer check showed that Messick had five prior DUI-related convictions, and no valid driver’s license.

    Messick was taken to Troop 3, where he was charged with the crimes listed below, arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 7, and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on a $6,101 secured bond.

  • Search Warrant in Ellendale Leads to Arrest for Drug Offenses

    Delaware State Police have arrested a 53-year-old Andre Mullen from Ellendale, Delaware, for felony drug charges following a search warrant yesterday in Ellendale.

    On August 11, 2025, members of the Sussex County Drug Unit, Sussex County Governor’s Task Force, and the Delaware State Police Special Operations Response Team, executed a search warrant at a residence on 13000 block of South Old State Road in Ellendale. The search warrant was obtained following an investigation of Andre Mullen for the distribution of illegal narcotics from the residence. During the search warrant, three people, including Mullen, were detained in the residence.

    A search of the residence led to the discovery of the following items:

    • Approximately 44.92 grams of crack cocaine
    • Approximately 15.7 grams of powder cocaine
    • Approximately 44 buprenorphine and sublingual films
    • Digital scales
    • Drug paraphernalia
    • $793.00 in suspected drug proceeds

    Delaware State Police have arrested 30-year-old John Gleysteen of Bridgeville, Delaware for felony offenses following a menacing incident that occurred last week in Bridgeville.

    On August 5, 2025, at approximately 9:33 a.m., troopers responded to Handy Road near Craft Road in Bridgeville, for a report of an assault. When troopers arrived, they learned that a man, identified as John Gleysteen, arrived at the location on a tractor, collided with Delaware Department of Transportation (DelDot) tractor that was mowing grass, and argued with the DelDot employee. Gleysteen left the scene but returned a short time later, removed a chainsaw from his truck, and placed the running chainsaw near the tire of the tractor. Gleysteen then forcefully entered the cab of the DelDot tractor, assaulted the victim, damaged his property, and fled the scene. The victim was not injured.

    On August 10, 2025, Glyesteen was arrested and taken to Troop 5. He was charged with the crimes listed below, arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 3, and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on a $67,300 cash bond.

  • *Update – Suspects Arrested* State Police Investigating Smoke Shop Burglary

    Delaware State Police have arrested 18-year-old Tramez Bundick, 18-year-old Jayden Hack, a 16-year-old male, and a 17-year-old male, all of Millsboro, Delaware, for burglary and related offenses following two burglary investigations last month in Kent and Sussex Counties.

    On July 24, 2025, at approximately 1:00 a.m., officers from the Ocean View Police Department and troopers responded to an alarm activation at Marley’s Smoke Shop, located at 35831 Atlantic Avenue. When the officers arrived, they discovered that the business had been forcibly entered through the front door. They learned that four unidentified suspects, all wearing gloves and concealing their faces, broke into the store. Once inside, the suspects ransacked the business and stole an undisclosed amount of cash and merchandise. The suspects then fled the scene in two unknown vehicles.

    On the same day, at approximately 3:03 a.m., troopers responded to Harrington Pawn, located at 17750 South Dupont Highway in Harrington, for a report of an attempted burglary. When troopers arrived, they discovered that four unidentified suspects, all wearing gloves and concealing their faces, tried to forcibly enter the business but were unsuccessful. It was later learned that one of the suspects was in possession of an AR-style rifle during the two incidents.

    During the investigation, detectives learned that the two vehicles used in both incidents, a Hyundai Tucson and a Kia Sportage, were both were reported stolen through Millsboro Police Department. On July 24, Ocean City, Maryland Police Department located the stolen Tucson on North Baltimore Avenue and on July 25 the Sportage was located at Parson’s Farm Produce on Armory Road in Dagsboro, severely damaged by fire.

    Through collaborative investigative means, detectives identified Bundick, Hack, and the 16 and 17-year-old males, as the suspects in both incidents and obtained warrants for their arrest.

    On July 28, 2025, Bundick was arrested and taken to Troop 4, where he was charged with the crimes listed below, arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2, and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on a $169,050 cash bond.

    Delaware State Police have arrested 18-year-old Tramez Bundick, 18-year-old Jayden Hack, a 16-year-old male, and a 17-year-old male, all of Millsboro, Delaware, for burglary and related offenses following two burglary investigations last month in Kent and Sussex Counties.

    On July 24, 2025, at approximately 1:00 a.m., officers from the Ocean View Police Department and troopers responded to an alarm activation at Marley’s Smoke Shop, located at 35831 Atlantic Avenue. When the officers arrived, they discovered that the business had been forcibly entered through the front door. They learned that four unidentified suspects, all wearing gloves and concealing their faces, broke into the store. Once inside, the suspects ransacked the business and stole an undisclosed amount of cash and merchandise. The suspects then fled the scene in two unknown vehicles.

    On the same day, at approximately 3:03 a.m., troopers responded to Harrington Pawn, located at 17750 South Dupont Highway in Harrington, for a report of an attempted burglary. When troopers arrived, they discovered that four unidentified suspects, all wearing gloves and concealing their faces, tried to forcibly enter the business but were unsuccessful. It was later learned that one of the suspects was in possession of an AR-style rifle during the two incidents.

    During the investigation, detectives learned that the two vehicles used in both incidents, a Hyundai Tucson and a Kia Sportage, were both were reported stolen through Millsboro Police Department. On July 24, Ocean City, Maryland Police Department located the stolen Tucson on North Baltimore Avenue and on July 25 the Sportage was located at Parson’s Farm Produce on Armory Road in Dagsboro, severely damaged by fire.

    Through collaborative investigative means, detectives identified Bundick, Hack, and the 16 and 17-year-old males, as the suspects in both incidents and obtained warrants for their arrest.

    On July 28, 2025, Bundick was arrested and taken to Troop 4, where he was charged with the crimes listed below, arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2, and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on a $169,050 cash bond.

  • *Update – Suspects Arrested* State Police Investigating Smoke Shop Burglary

    Delaware State Police have arrested 18-year-old Tramez Bundick, 18-year-old Jayden Hack, a 16-year-old male, and a 17-year-old male, all of Millsboro, Delaware, for burglary and related offenses following two burglary investigations last month in Kent and Sussex Counties.

    On July 24, 2025, at approximately 1:00 a.m., officers from the Ocean View Police Department and troopers responded to an alarm activation at Marley’s Smoke Shop, located at 35831 Atlantic Avenue. When the officers arrived, they discovered that the business had been forcibly entered through the front door. They learned that four unidentified suspects, all wearing gloves and concealing their faces, broke into the store. Once inside, the suspects ransacked the business and stole an undisclosed amount of cash and merchandise. The suspects then fled the scene in two unknown vehicles.

    On the same day, at approximately 3:03 a.m., troopers responded to Harrington Pawn, located at 17750 South Dupont Highway in Harrington, for a report of an attempted burglary. When troopers arrived, they discovered that four unidentified suspects, all wearing gloves and concealing their faces, tried to forcibly enter the business but were unsuccessful. It was later learned that one of the suspects was in possession of an AR-style rifle during the two incidents.

    During the investigation, detectives learned that the two vehicles used in both incidents, a Hyundai Tucson and a Kia Sportage, were both were reported stolen through Millsboro Police Department. On July 24, Ocean City, Maryland Police Department located the stolen Tucson on North Baltimore Avenue and on July 25 the Sportage was located at Parson’s Farm Produce on Armory Road in Dagsboro, severely damaged by fire.

    Through collaborative investigative means, detectives identified Bundick, Hack, and the 16 and 17-year-old males, as the suspects in both incidents and obtained warrants for their arrest.

    On July 28, 2025, Bundick was arrested and taken to Troop 4, where he was charged with the crimes listed below, arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2, and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on a $169,050 cash bond.

  • State Police Arrest Lewes Man for Reckless Endangering and Gun Offenses in Lewes

    Delaware State Police have arrested 20-year-old Elijah Bush of Lewes, Delaware for reckless endangering and gun offenses following a shooting that occurred in Lewes last night.

    On August 4, 2025, at approximately 11:04 p.m., troopers responded to a report of a shooting in the parking lot of Mr. P’s Pizza, located at 1004 Kings Highway in Lewes. During the investigation, detectives learned that an 18-year-old man drove to the restaurant to pick up a 16-year-old and a 17-year-old female. When he arrived, he saw the suspect, later identified as Elijah Bush, wearing a ski mask and talking to one of the females. As the females got into the victim’s vehicle, Bush pulled a gun and fired several shots, striking the vehicle as it left the parking lot. No one was injured. Bush was taken into custody a short time later without incident.

    Bush was taken to Troop 7, where he was charged with the crimes listed below, arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 7, and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on a $52,100 cash bond.

The search warrant was obtained following an investigation of Robert Mumford for the distribution of illegal narcotics from the residence. During the search warrant, two people, including Mumford, were detained in the residence. A child was also in the residence at the time.

    A search of the residence and vehicles led to the discovery of the following items:

  • State Police Arrest Two Men for Gun and Drug Charges Following Pursuit in Bridgeville

    Delaware State Police have arrested 28-year-old Tracey Johnson of Harrington, Delaware, and 26-year-old Joseph Davis of Georgetown, Delaware, for gun and drug offenses following a pursuit in Bridgeville.

    On July 30, 2025, at approximately 3:05 p.m., members of the Sussex County Governor’s Task Force saw a black Dodge Charger with a registration violation traveling northbound on Coverdale Road near Seashore Highway. Detectives initiated a traffic stop on the Dodge, which was occupied by a black male driver, and a black male passenger. The Dodge failed to stop and sped away on Seashore Highway. Due to the Dodge traveling in a reckless manner, the pursuit was discontinued for the safety of other motorists. In the ensuing investigation, members of the Kent County Governor’s Task Force responded to the registered owner of the Dodge’s residence on Genesis Lane in Harrington. When detectives arrived, they saw two men, identified as the driver Tracey Johnson, and passenger Joseph Davis, attempting to cover the Dodge with a tarp. As detectives made contact with them, they saw Davis place an item under a landscaping trailer. Johnson and Davis were detained without incident. During a search of Davis, detectives found approximately 1.95 grams of heroin. During a search of Johnson, detectives found the key for the Dodge. Subsequently, detectives conducted a search of the Dodge, and the area under the landscaping trailer, which led to the discovery of the following items:

    • Loaded 9mm handgun with an extended magazine
    • Sawed off .12-gauge shotgun
    • Several rounds of .12-gauge ammunition
    • AR-15 upper receiver
    • AR-15 magazine
    • Several rounds of 5.56 caliber ammunition
    • Several rounds of .38 caliber ammunition
    • Approximately 27.67 grams of acetaminophen
    • Approximately 10.70 grams of a combination xylazine/acetaminophen mixture
    • Digital scales

    Johnson and Davis were arrested, and taken to Troop 3, where they were each charged with multiple crimes.

    Johnson, who is a person prohibited from possessing a firearm or ammunition, was charged with the crimes listed below, arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2, and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on an $89,500 cash bond.

  • Search Warrant in Rehoboth Beach Leads to Arrest for Gun and Drug Offenses

    Delaware State Police have arrested a 47-year-old Steve Pagan from Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, for felony gun and drug charges following a search warrant in Rehoboth Beach this morning.

    On July 31, 2025, members of the Sussex County Drug Unit, Sussex County Governor’s Task Force, Delaware State Police Special Operations Response Team, and the Rehoboth Beach Police Department, executed a search warrant at a residence on Baltimore Avenue in Rehoboth Beach. The search warrant was obtained following an investigation of Steve Pagan for the distribution of illegal narcotics from the residence. During the search warrant, Pagan was detained in the residence. Two children were also in the residence at the time of the search warrant.

    A search of the residence and vehicles led to the discovery of the following items:

    • Approximately 22.21 grams of cocaine
    • Approximately 28 grams of psilocybin mushrooms
    • Approximately 56 dosage units of Dihydrotestosterone
    • Approximately 4.1 grams of Testosterone
    • Approximately 3 grams of Trenbolone
    • Approximately 1.5 grams of Nandrolone
    • ,45 caliber handgun and ammunition
    • 9mm handgun and ammunition
    • Drug paraphernalia
    • $3,104 in suspected drug proceeds

  • Search Warrant in Georgetown Leads to Multiple Arrests for Drug Offenses

    Delaware State Police have arrested 52-year-old Gary Jefferson of Georgetown, Delaware, 26-year-old Jamie Reed of Milford, Delaware, and 54-year-old Paul Sample of Georgetown, Delaware, for felony drug and related charges following a search warrant in Georgetown yesterday.

    On July 29, 2025, members of the Sussex County Drug Unit, Sussex County Governor’s Task Force, and the Georgetown Police Department, executed a search warrant at a property on the 20000 block of Savannah Road in Georgetown. The search warrant was obtained following an investigation of Gary Jefferson and Paul Sample for the distribution of illegal narcotics from the property. During the search warrant, 18 people were detained including Jefferson, Reed, and Sample.

    A search of the people detained, vehicles, and the property led to the discovery of the following items:

    • $723.00 in suspected drug proceeds
    • Approximately .19 grams of crack cocaine
    • Approximately 26 pills of medroxyprogesterone
    • Approximately 6 pills of valacyclovir
    • Approximately 69 pills of bupropion
    • Approximately 12 pills of gabapentin
    • Approximately 22 pills of tadalafil
    • Approximately 17 pills of olanzapine

  • State Police Arrest Two People from Maryland Following Pursuit Near Angola

    Delaware State Police have arrested 21-year-old Jeremy Rodriguez Sepulveda of Salisbury, Maryland, and 19-year-old Tina Berry of Delmar, Maryland for felony offenses following a pursuit near Angola.

    On July 27, 2025, at approximately 9:14 p.m., a trooper on patrol saw a Toyota GR86 traveling eastbound on John J. Williams Highway near Banks Road, east of Long Neck, at a high rate of speed. The trooper initiated a traffic stop as the Toyota turned southbound on Sloan Road. The driver failed to stop and turned off the Toyota’s headlights. As the Toyota continued southbound on Sloan Road, it failed to negotiate a curve and overturned. Troopers contacted the occupants of the vehicle, identified as Jeremy Rodriguez Sepulveda and Tina Berry. Both were taken to an area hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. In the ensuing investigation, Berry told troopers that she was driving the Toyota, but it was later determined that Rodriguez Sepulveda was driving during the pursuit.

    After being released from the hospital, Rodriguez Sepulveda and Berry were arrested and taken to Troop 7, where they were each charged with multiple offenses.

    Rodriguez Sepulveda was charged with the crimes listed below, arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 7, and released on his own recognizance.

Mauthe fled from the home; however, returned a couple minutes later, repeatedly punched the victim in the face, and then fled on foot in an unknown direction.

    On July 27, 2025, troopers made contact with Mauthe on an unrelated complaint in Townsend, and took him into custody without incident.   • State Police Arrest Woman for Assault at the Delaware State Fair in Harrington

    The Delaware State Police arrested 28-year-old Caitlynn Scott of Lincoln, Delaware, for a felony assault charge stemming from an incident at the Delaware State Fair in Harrington on Friday morning. Additionally, a 26-year-old man from Milford, Delaware, was arrested for a misdemeanor assault related offense following the incident.

    On July 25, 2025, at approximately 11:15 a.m., troopers responded to Gate 7 at the Delaware State Fair, located at 200 Simpson Road, Harrington, for a report of an assault. In the ensuing investigation, troopers learned the victim was involved in an argument with an acquaintance, later identified as the 26-year-old man, while he was driving her to a destination in Sussex County. The argument resolved with the victim requesting to be dropped off at Harrington Casino instead. Once they arrived at Gate 7, the 26-year-old man forcibly removed the victim from the vehicle. The victim reached back into the vehicle to retrieve her purse, at which point the rear passenger, later identified as Caitlynn Scott, pepper sprayed the victim. The suspects then fled in an unknown direction. The victim was taken to an area hospital for injuries sustained from the chemical spray to her face.

    Troopers located the suspect vehicle in Milford, and conducted a traffic stop. During the stop, troopers made contact with Scott, and the 26-year-old male, both of whom were taken into custody without incident. Scott and the 26-year-old male were taken to Troop 3, where the male was charged with a misdemeanor offense.

    Scott was charged with the crime below, arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2, and released on a $3,000 unsecured bond.

  • State Police Arrest Man for Attempted Strong-Arm Robbery in Claymont

    The Delaware State Police arrested 37-year-old Leroy Buchanan of Wilmington, Delaware, for an attempted strong-arm robbery that occurred in Claymont on Wednesday morning.

    On July 23, 2025, at approximately 5:41 a.m., troopers responded to a report of an attempted robbery that occurred at Dunkin’ Donuts, located at 3224 Philadelphia Pike in Claymont. The preliminary investigation revealed that the victim had placed her suitcase in front of the Dunkin’ Donuts when a black male suspect approached, and took it. The victim confronted the suspect, and recovered her suitcase then entered the Dunkin’ Donuts. The suspect followed the victim into the business, and began striking her while pulling her out of the business and demanding the suitcase. The suspect ultimately fled on foot in an unknown direction without the victim’s property. The victim was not injured.

    Troopers searched the area for the suspect, and located a male matching the suspect’s description as he was walking southbound on Philadelphia Pike. Troopers made contact with the male, identified as Leroy Buchanan, and discovered he was the suspect responsible for the attempted robbery.

    Buchanan was taken to Troop 1, where he was charged with the crimes listed below, arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2, and released on a $2,500 unsecured bond.

  • State Police Arrest Man for Vehicular Homicide in Fatal Hit-and-Run Collision in Milton

    The Delaware State Police arrested 22-year-old Tahrie Calloway of Claymont, Delaware, for vehicular homicide and traffic-related charges following a fatal hit-and-run collision yesterday morning in Milton.

    On July 26, 2025, at approximately 7:39 a.m., a 2017 Honda Accord was traveling northbound on Sand Hill Road, approaching Burton Road in Milton. At the same time, a bicyclist was traveling along the eastern edge of the roadway on Sand Hill Road northbound, just ahead of the Honda. The preliminary investigation revealed the front right of the Honda struck the bicyclist as the Honda passed, which caused the bicyclist to be thrown into the grass. After the impact, the Honda did not stop, and fled from the scene of the collision.

    The bicyclist, a 67-year-old man from Milford, Delaware, was taken to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead. His name is being withheld until his family and relatives are notified.

    The driver of the Honda, later identified as Tahrie Calloway, was found with the disabled Honda approximately 1 mile north of the collision scene by EMS personnel. Through investigative means, troopers discovered the damage to the Honda was consistent with the hit-and-run collision, and Calloway was taken into custody without incident. During the investigation, troopers observed multiple signs of impairment from Calloway, including the odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating from his breath. In the ensuing DUI investigation, impairment was suspected to be a factor at the time of the crash.

    Calloway was taken to Troop 4, where he was charged with the crimes listed below, arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 3, and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on a $18,101 cash bond.

  • Detectives Arrest Man for Strong-Arm Robbery in Newark

    The Delaware State Police arrested 30-year-old Erik Yancey of New Castle, Delaware, for a strong-arm robbery that occurred in Newark on Wednesday night.

    On July 24, 2025, at approximately 12:09 a.m., troopers responded to a report of a robbery that occurred a short time earlier in the parking lot of Moon Spa, located at 1919 Capitol Trail in Newark. The preliminary investigation revealed that the victim was entering his vehicle in the parking lot when he was approached by an unknown black male suspect. The suspect opened the driver’s door, and demanded the victim’s property while holding his hand wrapped in a cloth, implying a firearm. The suspect threatened to shoot the victim, and punched him. The suspect then stole the victim’s personal property, and fled on foot behind the business. The victim then drove to a nearby business, where an employee called 9-1-1. The victim sustained minor injuries.

    Through investigative means, troopers identified the suspect involved in the robbery as Erik Yancey. Detectives further discovered Yancey had used the victim’s credit card in Wilmington. On July 25, 2025, detectives located Yancey in Wilmington, and took him into custody.

    Yancey was taken to Troop 2, where he was charged with the crimes listed below, arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2, and committed to Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on a $51,000 cash bond.

    On July 22, 2025, at approximately 4:57 p.m., troopers responded to Harry O. Eisenberg Elementary School, located at 27 Landers Lane, New Castle, for a report of a fight. In the ensuing investigation, troopers learned the 64-year-old victim returned to his Ford Transit van in the school’s parking lot, and found approximately 3-4 teenage suspects in the vehicle. The victim confronted the suspects, and ran after them as they fled from the vehicle. While fleeing, one of the suspects, later identified as the 13-year-old male, pointed an orange flare gun at the victim. The victim ultimately caught up to the 13-year-old, and stopped him from fleeing, during which the suspect punched the victim. Arriving troopers took the 13-year-old into custody without incident, and recovered the flare gun from him.

    During the investigation, troopers discovered the Ford’s driver side door had been damaged by the suspects, and a screwdriver was shoved into the vehicle’s ignition. This type of damage is consistent with the nationwide trend of vehicles being stolen using a screwdriver. The suspect’s co-conspirators were not located, and have not been identified at this time.

    The suspect was taken to Troop 2, where he was charged with crimes listed below, arraigned by New Castle County Family Court, and committed to New Castle County Detention Center on a $26,200 cash bond.

    • Possession of a Deadly Weapon During the Commission of a Felony (Felony)
    • Aggravated Menacing (Felony)
    • Possession of Burglar Tools (Felony)
    • Conspiracy 2nd Degree (Felony)
    • Offensive Touching
    • Criminal Mischief

  • State Police Arrest Pennsylvania Man for Gun and Drug Charges

    Delaware State Police arrested 43-year-old Andrew Kucharczyk of Linwood, Pennsylvania, for gun and drug charges Sunday evening in Claymont.

    On July 20, 2025, at approximately 7:00 p.m., troopers responded to the SEPTA station located at 191 Transit Center Drive in Claymont following a report of a sleeping bus passenger who could not be awakened. Upon arrival, troopers found the passenger, later identified as Andrew Kucharczyk, asleep in a passenger seat. While approaching Kucharczyk, the trooper noticed a handgun protruding from the center of the front waistband, partially exposed through his shirt. Kucharczyk was suspected to be under the influence of narcotics. Troopers took Kucharczyk into custody without incident and removed a loaded .380 Smith and Wesson handgun without a holster from his waistband. Troopers learned that Kucharczyk did not have a valid carry-concealed permit. Computer query also revealed Kucharczyk, a convicted felon, is prohibited from possessing firearms or ammunition. Subsequent search of Kucharczyk’s person led to the discovery of approximately .18 grams of suspected heroin, approximately .5 grams of suspected crack cocaine, and drug paraphernalia.

    Kucharczyk was taken to Troop 1 where he was charged with crimes listed below, arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 11, and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on a $56,600 cash bond.

    • Possession of a Deadly Weapon by Person Prohibited Who Also Possesses a Controlled Substance (Felony)
