The Boston Red Sox kept rolling Monday night, stretching their winning streak to 14 games with a 6-5 victory over the visiting Baltimore Orioles — a run that now stands as the second longest in franchise history and just one game shy of the club record established in 1946.
Caleb Durbin delivered the decisive blow, launching a solo home run in the eighth inning off reliever Tyler Wells (2-2) to break a 5-5 deadlock. It was Durbin’s 10th homer of the season. Baltimore threatened in the ninth with runners on second and third and two outs, but Tyler O’Neill lined out to shortstop to end the game. Garrett Whitlock (5-1) threw a scoreless eighth to earn the win, and Aroldis Chapman closed it out in the ninth for his 22nd save.
For the Orioles, Christian Encarnacion-Strand homered and Gunnar Henderson collected three doubles, but Baltimore committed four errors and saw its own seven-game winning streak come to an end.
Yankees 8, Pirates 5
Jazz Chisholm Jr. slugged two home runs to power New York past Pittsburgh in one of the Yankees’ best home performances in recent memory. It was just the third time in their last 12 home games that the Yankees came away with a win, and their highest-scoring home game since a 10-5 win over the Chicago White Sox on June 17.
Chisholm went deep in the first and third innings off Pittsburgh starter Braxton Ashcraft (9-4), recording his 10th career multi-homer game. His second blast came in response to a 431-foot two-run shot from Pirates rookie Esmerlyn Valdez, which had given Pittsburgh a 5-4 lead. The homer gave Valdez an RBI in eight consecutive games and 13 home runs in just the first 32 games of his career.
Guardians 13, Twins 4
Cleveland had a record-setting night at the plate, going deep seven times — a season high — to crush the visiting Minnesota Twins. Rookie Petey Halpin clubbed his first two career home runs, while Rhys Hoskins recorded his 14th career multi-homer game.
Travis Bazzana and Brayan Rocchio also went yard against Twins starter Joe Ryan (6-6), who surrendered a franchise- and ballpark-record six home runs in four innings — the most allowed by any pitcher in the majors this season — in his first outing since the All-Star Game. Patrick Bailey added Cleveland’s seventh homer off Woo-Suk Go in the seventh, tying the club’s all-time record for most home runs in a home game. Tanner Bibee (4-9) earned the win, working six innings and allowing two runs on six hits.
Rays 7, Blue Jays 1
Tampa Bay ended a five-game losing streak with a convincing road win in Toronto, getting solo home runs from Victor Mesa Jr., Cedric Mullins and Nick Fortes. Junior Caminero went 3-for-4 with two doubles, a walk and two RBIs to back starter Nick Martinez, who was sharp over six innings.
Martinez (9-2) gave up one run, six hits and one walk while not recording a strikeout. The win improved Tampa Bay to 6-1 against Toronto this season. The Blue Jays fell to 1-3 on their current six-game homestand and now trail the first-place Rays by 11.5 games in the American League East.
Phillies 10, Dodgers 7
Trea Turner drove in five runs with two home runs and a double as Philadelphia topped the visiting Los Angeles Dodgers. Brandon Marsh, Bryce Harper and Derek Hill also went deep for the Phillies, giving starter Cristopher Sanchez (12-4) plenty of run support.
Coming off a difficult All-Star start the previous week, Sanchez bounced back by allowing three runs and seven hits in 5 1/3 innings, striking out seven without issuing a walk. Mookie Betts went 4-for-5 with two home runs for Los Angeles, and Andy Pages added two hits and an RBI. Dodgers starter Emmet Sheehan (4-7) took the loss after giving up six runs and eight hits in 5 1/3 innings.
Braves 3, Padres 2
Michael Harris II and Ozzie Albies each hit solo home runs and Bryce Elder delivered six strong innings as Atlanta defeated the visiting San Diego Padres in the first game of a four-game series — the Braves’ first win in four meetings against San Diego.
Harris tied the game with a fifth-inning blast, and Albies put Atlanta ahead with a homer in the sixth. Elder (6-6) gave up two runs on five hits with one walk and four strikeouts. Victor Mederos handled the final 2 1/3 innings and earned the first save of his career. For San Diego, Ty France extended his season-high hitting streak to eight games with a fourth-inning single and added a leadoff homer in the seventh.
Tigers 8, Cubs 6 (10 innings)
Dillon Dingler hit two home runs and delivered the go-ahead RBI single in the 10th inning to help Detroit outlast the host Chicago Cubs. The Tigers scored four times in the first inning and held the lead until Ian Happ’s two-run homer off Kyle Finnegan in the eighth tied the game at 5-5.
In the 10th, with runners on the corners and nobody out, Dingler chopped a ball deep into the shortstop hole and beat the throw from Dansby Swanson. Spencer Torkelson then added a two-run single to pad the lead. Dingler finished 4-for-5 with three RBIs, and Riley Greene had gotten things started with a three-run homer in the first.
Royals 4, Giants 3
Salvador Perez hit a two-run home run that moved him within one of tying George Brett’s all-time Kansas City home run record, but the Royals ultimately needed a walk-off squeeze bunt from Nick Loftin in the ninth inning to beat the visiting San Francisco Giants.
San Francisco trailed 3-1 and was down to its final out in the ninth when Kansas City’s Alex Lange (1-5) allowed a single to Jung Hoo Lee. Willy Adames then drove a pitch the opposite way, just clearing the right field fence to tie the game. In the bottom of the ninth against Caleb Kilian (2-6), with runners on first and third and one out, Loftin — who had entered the game in place of All-Star Bobby Witt Jr., who left earlier with lingering lower back tightness — dropped a bunt toward first baseman Bryce Eldridge, who could not make a clean play to get Josh Rojas at the plate.
Brewers 8, Mets 3
Joey Ortiz launched a three-run homer, and Andrew Vaughn and Cooper Pratt added solo shots as Milwaukee handled the visiting New York Mets and former Brewer Freddy Peralta. Starter Jacob Misiorowski, returning after skipping his last pre-All-Star break start due to arm fatigue, allowed one unearned run over four innings and 65 pitches, striking out six and walking one. Craig Yoho (2-0) followed with a scoreless inning.
Peralta (5-9), pitching against his former club for the first time, was tagged for seven runs on eight hits over 5 1/3 innings, striking out six and walking two in a 107-pitch outing.
Astros 8, Marlins 5
Yordan Alvarez delivered his fifth multi-homer game of the season as Houston snapped a four-game losing streak with a win over the visiting Miami Marlins. Alvarez went 3-for-4 with two solo home runs — his 27th career multi-homer game. Jeremy Pena provided the big blow of a six-run second inning with his second career grand slam. Starter Ronel Blanco gave up two homers and four runs while striking out eight in his first start since May 17, 2025, following Tommy John surgery.
Joe Mack and Liam Hicks each hit two-run homers for Miami. Marlins starter Janson Junk (4-6) allowed six runs on five hits over four innings. The loss was Miami’s seventh consecutive defeat, and it dropped the Marlins out of the final National League wild-card position.
White Sox 10, Rangers 3
Andrew Benintendi cleared the bases with a double in the fifth inning and Miguel Vargas recorded three hits and two RBIs as the visiting Chicago White Sox rolled past Texas in Arlington. Chicago added five more runs in the ninth and now sits half a game ahead of the Cleveland Guardians atop the American League Central.
White Sox starter Erick Fedde held the Rangers to two runs and four hits over four innings with six strikeouts. Texas right-hander Jacob deGrom fell to 7-6 after allowing five runs and seven hits in 4 2/3 innings, walking two and striking out six.
Nationals 7, Rockies 3
CJ Abrams homered for the second consecutive game as Washington collected three home runs total in a win over Colorado in Denver. Jacob Young also went deep and finished with three hits, Curtis Mead contributed three hits, and Andres Chaparro hit his fourth home run of the season. Riley Cornelio (1-1) threw 1 2/3 scoreless innings of relief, and Tom Cosgrove recorded the final six outs to earn his first career save.
Jake McCarthy led Colorado with two hits, and Kyle Freeland (2-9) allowed three runs in the first before settling in to give up four runs total on seven hits over six innings. The Rockies, who have dropped three of their first four games since the All-Star break, hold the worst record in the National League.
Mariners 8, Reds 0
Cal Raleigh belted a grand slam and drove in five runs while George Kirby tossed six shutout innings as Seattle blanked the visiting Cincinnati Reds in the first game of a three-game interleague series. Victor Robles went 4-for-4 and scored twice. Kirby (8-8) allowed three hits, walked one and struck out six.
Julio Rodriguez left after the fifth inning after being struck by a throw from Elly De La Cruz while scoring on an infield single. Andrew Abbott (5-6) took the loss despite allowing just one unearned run on four hits over six innings. The top six batters in Cincinnati’s lineup went a combined 0-for-20, with all three of the Reds’ hits coming from the bottom of the order.
Angels 3, Cardinals 2
Jo Adell was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth to give Los Angeles a walk-off win over St. Louis in the opening game of a three-game series in Anaheim. The Angels entered the ninth inning trailing 2-1 — a situation in which they had gone 0-48 this season and had lost 106 straight such games.
Cardinals All-Star closer Riley O’Brien (3-4) struck out Mike Trout to open the frame, but then surrendered a single and a double, hit a batter, issued an intentional walk, and ultimately plunked Adell with a 3-0 sinker to force in the winning run. Adell also homered earlier in the game.
Athletics 5, Diamondbacks 2
Jeff McNeil delivered a tiebreaking two-run pinch-hit single during a three-run seventh inning as Oakland’s bullpen held on for a win over Arizona in Phoenix. Tommy White went 4-for-5 in just his third major league game, and Jacob Wilson and Joshua Kuroda-Grauer each homered among their two hits apiece. Starter Jeffrey Springs allowed two runs on six hits over five innings but saw his winless streak stretch to 16 outings.
Ketel Marte hit a two-run homer for Arizona, and Nolan Arenado became the sixth active player to reach 2,000 career hits with a fifth-inning double. Diamondbacks starter Mitch Bratt gave up two runs and eight hits over 4 2/3 innings in his third major league start. Kevin Ginkel (3-3) allowed all three Athletics runs in the seventh.
