LONDON — The chief executive of Novartis says he is not going anywhere and is focused on steering the Swiss pharmaceutical company through a critical period ahead.
Speaking with reporters on a call Monday following the release of the company’s second-quarter financial results — which surpassed what analysts had projected — CEO Vas Narasimhan was direct about his intentions.
“No change of plans for me,” he said.
Narasimhan went on to outline what he sees on the horizon for the company. “I’m looking forward to the (trial) readouts in the second half, the launches for next year, continuing our AI transformation, a lot to do,” he said.
Narasimhan has held the top position at Novartis since 2018. He is currently guiding the drugmaker through one of its most difficult stretches of patent expirations, including the loss of exclusivity for Entresto, its high-profile heart failure medication.
