State agriculture officials in Maryland are moving forward with an unscheduled mosquito control operation in Anne Arundel County, set for the evening of July 27, 2026.
The Maryland Department of Agriculture, working alongside the Anne Arundel County Health Department, announced the expanded spraying effort in response to growing public health concerns about the potential spread of mosquito-borne diseases in the area.
The operation will use Ultra-Low Volume, or ULV, truck-based spraying — a method designed to target and reduce adult mosquito populations across affected neighborhoods.
The announcement was made on July 23, 2026, giving residents several days’ notice ahead of the planned activity.
