Authorities warn against attempting to drive through flooded roads, noting that even shallow water can be dangerous. Residents should monitor local forecasts and be prepared to act if a Flood Warning is issued.

Grain futures closed lower Monday. September corn settled at $4.51¾/bu, down 12½ cents. August soybeans dropped sharply to $12.08½/bu, off 39½ cents. September Chicago wheat closed at $6.60/bu, down 18 cents. Locally, Laurel Grain Company in Laurel is bidding $4.98/bu for September corn delivery.
Policy
Senate Agriculture Committee leaders are said to be very close to a bipartisan farm bill deal ahead of the August recess. The head of the National Council of Farmer Cooperatives says Senators John Boozman and Amy Klobuchar both believe an agreement is within reach.
