Chicago Stars FC has announced that forward Jordyn Huitema’s season is over after she was placed on the season-ending injury list Tuesday, the result of a torn left ACL.
The injury happened during Saturday’s home contest against Angel City FC, a match Chicago lost 2-0.
The club expressed its support for the injured player, stating: “The Chicago Stars wish Jordyn a speedy recovery with full support from the club and look forward to her return to the pitch.”
Huitema will need surgery followed by a rehabilitation program, the team confirmed. A torn ACL typically requires six to twelve months of recovery time, which raises serious questions about whether the Canadian standout will be healthy enough to compete in the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
The 25-year-old is playing her first season in Chicago after spending four years with the Seattle Reign from 2022 to 2025, and four years before that with French club Paris Saint-Germain from 2019 to 2022. She had contributed four goals across 12 appearances this season.
On the international stage, Huitema has been a consistent performer for Canada, netting 24 goals in 98 international appearances. She was part of the Canadian squad that claimed gold at the 2021 Tokyo Olympics.
