Federal health officials announced Friday that measles infections in the United States have already exceeded last year’s full total, with 2,318 confirmed cases recorded so far in 2026.
According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 2,302 of those cases were reported across 45 jurisdictions throughout the country. An additional 16 cases were identified among international visitors traveling within the U.S.
By comparison, the entire year of 2025 saw 2,289 confirmed measles cases nationwide — a number that 2026 has now surpassed with months still remaining in the year.
Health officials also noted that 35 new measles outbreaks have been reported so far in 2026.
