Belgian prosecutors announced Saturday the arrest of a Canadian woman of Chinese origin on charges related to espionage at a NATO location in the country.
According to a statement from the Belgian prosecutor, the woman is believed to have gathered intelligence on behalf of a foreign nation and to have been part of a criminal organization. Officials declined to release her name or additional personal details at this time.
Prosecutors confirmed the suspect had been serving as an intern at SHAPE, a NATO facility located in Mons, Belgium, at the time of the alleged activity.
