Baltimore Orioles Lock Up Pitcher Kyle Bradish with $90 Million Deal

The Baltimore Orioles made a major commitment to one of their top starters on Saturday, reaching a five-year contract extension with right-handed pitcher Kyle Bradish.

According to ESPN, the deal is valued at $90 million. The contract structure covers Bradish’s remaining two years of arbitration eligibility as well as the first three years that would have otherwise been available to him on the open market.

The 29-year-old has been a reliable presence in the Orioles rotation over the past five seasons. In 465 innings of work, he has compiled a 25-24 record, a 3.50 ERA, a 1.206 WHIP, and 485 strikeouts.

His current season has been consistent with those career numbers. Through his most recent outings, Bradish is 6-9 with a 3.61 ERA, a 1.351 WHIP, and 106 strikeouts across 107 and one-third innings pitched.

Orioles owner David Rubenstein praised the move in an official statement. “Keeping players of Kyle’s caliber in an Orioles uniform is an important part of our long-term vision,” Rubenstein said. “We are grateful to Kyle for his commitment to our organization and to Baltimore. Thanks to (president of baseball operations and general manager) Mike Elias and the entire baseball operations department for their dedication throughout this process.”
