The Athletics have added a veteran arm to their organization, signing former American League Cy Young Award winner Dallas Keuchel to a minor league contract, ESPN reported Saturday.
Keuchel, 38, is a two-time All-Star left-hander whose most recent major league outing came on July 13, 2024, when he took the mound for the Milwaukee Brewers.
The pitcher brings 13 years of big league experience to the table, with the bulk of his success coming during his time with the Houston Astros from 2012 to 2018. His standout season came in 2015, when he posted a 20-8 record with a 2.48 ERA and 216 strikeouts, earning him the AL Cy Young Award that year.
According to ESPN, Keuchel will report to Triple-A Las Vegas as he works toward earning a spot back in the majors.
Across stints with the Astros, Atlanta Braves, Chicago White Sox, Arizona Diamondbacks, Texas Rangers, Minnesota Twins, and Brewers, Keuchel has compiled a career record of 103-92 with a 4.04 ERA and 1,254 strikeouts over 282 games, including 267 starts.
