The Anaheim Ducks wasted no time locking up their newest forward, reportedly signing A.J. Greer to a four-year contract worth $17 million on Tuesday, according to several media outlets.
Greer had just wrapped up a two-year, $1.7 million contract with the Florida Panthers when he became part of a trade on Monday. The deal sent Anaheim defenseman Radko Gudas to Florida in exchange for Greer, giving the Ducks a narrow window to negotiate exclusively with him before he would have hit the open market as an unrestricted free agent on Wednesday.
Along with the new deal comes a 10-team no-trade clause for Greer, who is entering this next chapter following the strongest offensive season of his professional career.
The 29-year-old forward put up 17 goals last season for the Panthers — a career best that matched his total from the previous three seasons put together. He also posted personal records in assists with 15 and total points with 32, while averaging 12 minutes and 26 seconds of ice time per game, the most he has seen in a full NHL season.
Over nine NHL seasons, Greer has accumulated 81 career points — 36 goals and 45 assists — across 326 games. His career has taken him through stops with the Colorado Avalanche from 2016 to 2019, the New Jersey Devils from 2020 to 2022, the Boston Bruins in 2022-23, the Calgary Flames in 2023-24, and most recently the Panthers from 2024 to 2026.
