Delaware State Police are investigating after the body of a 65-year-old man was found on Baywood golf course in Millsboro.
According to the Delaware State Police Department, around 5:41 p.m., Tuesday troopers responded to the area of Long Neck Road and Banks Road for reports that a body had been found on the property of the Baywood golf course.
The victim, a 65-year-old Millsboro man, was located on the property of the golf course and pronounced dead at the scene.
The investigation is still ongoing at this time and identification of the victim is pending notification to the next-of-kin.
The Delaware State Police Homicide Unit is actively investigating this incident. Detectives are asking anyone with information regarding this case to contact Detective A. Bluto by calling 302-741-2859.
Darryl Naser, 29, of Far Rockaway, NY – Delaware State Police Dept.
A New York man was arrested on felony burglary charges after police say he tried to break into the home of a Camden couple who called 911 after they caught him urinating on their front lawn.
According to Delaware State Police, around 7:25 p.m., Monday troopers responded to the 400 block of Wheatleys Pond Road in Clayton for an attempted burglary complaint.
Police arrived and learned that the suspect had tried to make their way inside the home through the garage but was unsuccessful. A 51-year-old female victim who was home at the time was alerted to the motion in the garage and saw the suspect urinating on her front lawn, according to police.
The victim’s husband, who was also home at the time, confronted the suspect and he fled the property on a bicycle.
With the assistance of Camden Police Department, the suspect’s bicycle was located in the driveway of a home in the 1200 block of Wheatleys Pond Road. Officers confronted the suspect as he was leaving the house, which police say caused him to drop the stolen items and run.
Officers gave chase and successfully took the suspect, later identified as 29-year-old Darryl Naser, of Far Rockaway, New York into custody.
Naser was found to be in possession of approximately 1.88 grams of marijuana, police said. Further investigation revealed he had made entrance through an unlocked door and removed jewelry and electronics from within the home. All of the stolen items were recovered.
Naser was transported to Troop 3 where he was charged with Burglary 2nd Degree (Felony), Attempted Burglary 1st Degree (Felony), Theft Under $1,500, Lewdness, and Possession of Marijuana. He was arraigned and committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution on $35,000 cash bond.
A Seaford man has been arrested after leading police on a pursuit early Sunday morning.
Delaware State Police say a trooper attempted to stop 37-year-old Dontra Batson after he was observed traveling at a high rate of speed in his blue Ford Escape on southbound Sussex Highway near Concord Road. Batson allegedly led the pursuit down Concord Road, where he struck a home on Haven Drive and fled on foot. Officers chased him down and apprehended him without further incident.
A further investigation determined that Batson was impaired. Officers also found 2.89 grams of marijuana and 15 grams of cocaine. A Ruger 9mm handgun was also found, and computer check showed Batson was a convicted felon prohibited from having a firearm.
Batson was transported to Troop 5 and charged with the following offenses:
Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony (Felony)
Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited (Felony)
Disregarding a Police Officer Signal (Felony)
Resisting Arrest
Possession of a Firearm While Under the Influence
Possession of a Controlled Substance
Driving Under the Influence
Possession of Marijuana
Numerous traffic offenses
Batson was lodged at Sussex Correctional Institution on $23,850 cash bond.
Democrat State Auditor Kathy McGuiness has been re-indicted by a Grand Jury in Kent County on Monday.
The move comes after McGuiness’ attorney, Steve Wood, motioned that the case should be tried in Kent County because that is where the alleged crimes took place. Judge William C. Carpenter dismissed the case prior to her trial starting, and the case was brought to the Kent County grand jury on June 6.
McGuiness is accused of official misconduct (a misdemeanor), felony theft, structuring (non compliance with procurement law – a misdemeanor), and act of intimidation (felony).
McGuiness has long maintained her innocence and continues to work as State Auditor via a statement from her attorney after the initial indictment was handed down in October 2021.
“Delaware law does not prohibit family members from hiring family members, and there have been many instances of such employment all throughout state government – including in the Attorney General’s Office,” McGuiness said via her attorney, Steven Wood. “It is also true that, like millions of Americans, Ms. McGuiness’s daughter worked remotely during the COVID pandemic. However, the Indictment’s assumption that the only way for a state worker to work remotely is by using the State’s email network is false.”
Her trial date is to be determined.

Delaware State Auditor Kathy McGuiness was indicted by a grand jury Monday afternoon as part of an ongoing criminal investigation into multiple claims of misconduct while in office.
A press conference was held outside the New Castle County Courthouse where Attorney General Kathy Jennings said their investigation confirmed a “clear and disturbing pattern.”
“The investigation has confirmed a clear and disturbing pattern of behavior that was not only unethical, but it was against the law,” Jennings said. “We uncovered corruption, nepotism, fraud, and misconduct that implicated thousands of taxpayer dollars.”
The investigation, which Attorney General Jennings stressed remains ongoing, comes after several whistleblowers came forward to inform the state Department of Justice (DOJ) of the alleged misconduct.
The Division of Civil Rights and Public Trust was able to obtain an indictment following a full-scale investigation involving witness interviews and document reviews that officials say prove the allegations.
McGuiness was indicted on charges of conflict of interest in violation of the state’s code of conduct, felony theft, non-compliance with procurement law by structuring state payments, official misconduct, and felony witness intimidation.
Attorney General Jennings said the investigation uncovered a “sweetheart deal” to avoid oversight of State Auditor McGuiness’ state contract with campaign vendor ‘MyCampaignGroup.’
“She informed them of a loophole that would allow them to avoid a competitive bidding process by keeping the initial contract amount below $50,000,” Jennings stressed. “The bidding process exists to protect taxpayers. It’s there to prevent this exact behavior. A month later, the defendant entered into a contract with MyCampaignGroup, which was never submitted for public bidding whatsoever. In total, the State Auditor’s Office paid MyCampaignGroup $49,900, just $100 shy of the public bidding threshold thus avoiding public oversight.”
McGuiness illegally structured a series of payments, according to the DOJ, to MyCampaignGroup in order to remain under the state approval threshold. She later approached the company a second time, according to Jennings.
“It’s important to keep this in mind, this was done by the State Auditor, whose job is literally to protect your tax dollars from this very kind of spending.”
The investigation also uncovered what Attorney General Jennings said was “clear nepotism.”
McGuiness’ daughter and a friend were employed by the office, neither of whom were interviewed, according to the investigation.
As the pandemic triggered record unemployment across the country, Jennings said McGuiness fired an employee citing lack of work hours and two others left under the same premise, but despite that she still hired her daughter and her friend.
“The defendant’s daughter enrolled in a college in South Carolina. For months, despite not coming into work, never logging in remotely, barely ever sending so much as an email, her daughter continued to receive taxpayer checks. Those paychecks were deposited into an account co-owned by her mother, the defendant,” Jennings said. “As of August, 2021 the defendant still employs her daughter on the state payroll.”
McGuiness’ daughter has been paid over $19,000 in taxpayer dollars, according to the investigation, in addition to $8,000 paid to her daughter’s friend.
“She used her power to hire her daughter no questions asked,” Jennings said. “She paid her daughter thousands of tax dollars even when her daughter wasn’t showing up to work. And when her staff discovered her misconduct, and did the right thing by speaking up, the Auditor, whose job is to be a government watchdog, engaged in an extensive pattern of surveillance and intimidation against those whistleblowers.”
During the course of the investigation, officials discovered that McGuiness allegedly monitored and intimidated real or perceived whistleblowers.
Over three dozen requests were submitted to monitor employees emails, including at least one former employee at a completely separate agency, according to the DOJ.
Jennings stressed that the investigation remains ongoing and requested anyone with any pertinent information related to the investigation to come forward by calling (302) 577-5400.
Multiple requests to reach McGuiness for comment have went unanswered.
“If anyone should know better, it is the State Auditor,” Jennings said. “Instead, as our investigation has shown, Kathleen McGuiness carried out the very misbehavior that she was elected to stop.”
26-year-old Jordan Walls, of Georgetown, DE – Delaware State Police Dept.
A Georgetown man was arrested on felony manslaughter charges following a shooting that killed a 54-year-old woman.
According to the Delaware State Police Department, the incident occurred around 6 p.m., Tuesday as troopers responded to the 22000 block of Deep Branch Road in Georgetown for reports that a woman had been shot.
When police arrived they located a 54-year-old female victim inside of the home suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Her identification is pending notification to next of kin.
Police say 26-year-old Jordan Walls was showing the victim his weapon at the home and a gunshot was fired. Troopers recovered a 20-gauge shotgun at scene.
Walls was taken into custody without incident and transported to Troop 4 where he was charged with the following crimes: Manslaughter (Felony) and Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony (Felony). He was arraigned and committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution on $120,000 cash bond.
Delaware State Police have released the identity of the bus aide who was arrested and charged after allegedly punching an eight-year-old girl with Down Syndrome in the Cape Henlopen School District.
According to the Delaware State Police Department, the incident occurred on January 21, 2022 when Clar Ellen Branca, a now former bus monitor for the Cape Henlopen School District, struck an eight-year-old girl in the head on a school bus.
A warrant for Branca’s arrest was drafted on March 18 after the school resource officer at Milton Elementary School where the student attends reviewed the case with the Attorney General’s Office.
Branca turned herself in to State Police on March 21 and was charged with Offensive Touching and Endangering the Welfare of a Child, both misdemeanors. The case is still pending adjudication at this time.
TV Delmarva News Director Rob Petree was able to sit down over the weekend with Ryan Pickett who addressed the Cape Henlopen School Board on Thursday, April 28 where he spoke about an incident that occurred in January on a school bus involving his daughter who has down syndrome.
Pickett tells us how he and his wife didn’t learn about what happened until two weeks after the incident occurred by Delaware State Police.
“It happened on January 21, my wife got a phone call from the State Police Resource Officer telling us that there had been an incident on the 21st, which was two weeks before,” Pickett tells our news department. “We immediately wanted to find out what happened, so that was a Friday afternoon and I, over the weekend, left a message with the Superintendent asking to speak with him regarding this.”
All requests to meet with Cape Henlopen School District Superintendent Bob Fulton went ignored, according to Pickett who said he was finally able to meet with two other district officials who allowed he and his wife to review what happened through the school bus surveillance footage.
The severity of what happened didn’t really sink in until Pickett and his wife viewed the video footage from the bus that allegedly shows the aide punch their eight-year-old daughter twice in the head, all the while screaming profanities.
“The video shows her punching our daughter in the head twice,” Pickett stated. “Also, on top of it, they’re saying from the district that they can’t hear what the woman is saying, and that the bus driver didn’t know, but from the video and us watching the video, and I’m confident when you watch the video you’ll hear the same thing, you can hear very clearly what the lady is saying. She’s verbally assaulting our daughter and yelling at her.”
After it was clear Superintendent Bob Fulton would not meet with the family, Pickett took his concerns to the Cape Henlopen School Board. He was cut off by Board President Dr. Alison Myers who said “sir, that’s your three minutes. Mr. Pickett, that’s your three minutes” to which Pickett responded by saying “I can finish here or with the local news” to which Dr. Myers responded by saying “that’s what you’re going to have to do sir, three minutes is all you have.”
Interestingly enough, Dr. Myers, according to her biography on the Cape Henlopen School District website, is a former special education teacher. TV Delmarva’s Rob Petree reached out to Dr. Myers in an email:
‘You cut him off right at 3 minutes, when the board can and has in the past extended time for sensitive issues like this, but yet you cut him off and were entirely unsympathetic to the issue he and his family are facing due to a lack of due diligence on the part of the school district. Seeing as you are a former special education teacher, how do you justify how you treated Mr. Pickett?‘
We have yet to receive a response from Dr. Myers.
Pickett says he received a plethora of praise for his restraint at the callous way the board treated him, but the issue dives much deeper than that and is deeply concerning.
“It’s funny, I’m getting a lot of respect for my restraint, and I am naturally a very mild-mannered person, anybody who knows me would probably say that, but I was in my seat and there’s a couple times you can hear me yelling and her saying ‘sir’ and the plan with all of this was not to make this some big known thing,” Pickett stressed. “When we originally went to the school district, we wanted help for our daughter and we wanted to make sure that this never happened again, we gave them time to do it, and the district failed on all accounts.”
Pickett, rightfully upset as he reflected on what transpired, questioned the moral and ethics of the school board as a result of how he was treated, specifically Dr. Alison Myers.
“They proved that they’re more interested in securing their six figure jobs than they are protecting the children that they’re mandated to protect,” Pickett said. “When I began the speech, I was pretty calm, I think I even joked with them in the very beginning, but this is a situation that is very troubling as a parent. Every time I talk about it, it reminds me that my child was punched by a member of the Cape Henlopen School District, and they’re doing nothing about it. So, to be cut off by a woman with a special education background, a woman who has her own children, and I’m sure she’s a wonderful mother, but she has proven that she doesn’t care about my kids and that tells me that she’s probably not in the position that she needs to be in.”
Pickett and his family are calling on the school board to investigate the incident and find out if this happened to their daughter more than the one time they’re aware of, and if the aide abused other children. So far, the district has refused to say whether or not they’re investigating.
We reached out to the Cape Henlopen School District and were issued the following response from Communications Coordinator, Stephanie DeMalto:
“In response to your May 13, 2022 email, you have requested information pertaining to the conduct of a former employee and related matters. We take the safety of all of our students very seriously and hold all of our employees to the highest of standards. The individual involved is no longer an employee of the District. Under Delaware law, even former employees have privacy rights, and thus we cannot provide further comment.“
In a follow-up response, we formally requested an interview with Superintendent Bob Fulton and are awaiting a response.
The Down Syndrome Association of Delaware has issued a statement and is assisting the family of the eight-year-old girl who was assaulted by a bus aide in the Cape Henlopen School District.
“Recently the Down Syndrome Association of Delaware (DSA of DE) became notified of an incident regarding alleged abuse of an 8-year-old girl with Down syndrome in Cape Henlopen School District. Our organization has been in direct communication with the child’s family and is currently providing support through this extremely difficult situation,” Lauren Camp Gates, Executive Director of the Down Syndrome Association of Delaware stated. “The DSA of DE holds a formal partnership with the Beau Biden Foundation for the Protection of Children since 2018. As stated in our Child Protection Policy, we are devoted to the safety of individuals with Down syndrome. We understand that this incident poses great concern to many of our families, particularly those who have individuals in this school district.”

Delaware State Police are investigating after more than 100 bronze flower vases were stolen from plots at the Henlopen Memorial Cemetery in Milton.
According to the Delaware State Police Department, on the morning of May 2, troopers responded to Henlopen Memorial Park Cemetery in Milton regarding a theft complaint.
Police arrived and learned that over 100 bronze flower vases have been stolen from cemetery plots since 2021.
Troopers are asking that anyone who had a vase purchased and placed for a deceased relative or friend in Henlopen Memorial Park to contact Trooper First Class R. Prettyman of Troop 7 at 302-703-3322.
Anyone with information regarding these thefts are urged to contact police.
72-year-old Gloria Williams, of New Castle, DE – Delaware State Police
A 72-year-old New Castle woman was arrested on felony assault charges after police say she stabbed a person who tried to throw away her walker.
According to the Delaware State Police Department, the incident occurred around 9:30 p.m., Tuesday at the Hollywood Motel on South Dupont Highway in New Castle.
Police arrived and learned that a 57-year-old victim was engaged in a verbal argument with 72-year-old Gloria Williams over a suspected theft, according to police. The argument escalated and turned physical.
After the two were separated, police say a short time later the victim tried to throw Williams’ walker in the dumpster. During this action, Williams allegedly produced a knife and stabbed the victim in the upper extremity. The victim was treated at an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
When police arrived, Williams reportedly still had the knife in her hand. The knife was recovered and she was taken into custody without incident.
Williams was charged with Possession of a Deadly Weapon During the Commission of a Felony (Felony) and Assault 2nd Degree (Felony). She was arraigned and committed to the Delores J. Baylor Correctional Institution on $30,000 secured bond.

18-year-old Kyree Coxon, of Rehoboth Beach, DE – Delaware State Police Dept.
A Rehoboth teen was arrested on drug and weapons charges in Milton.
According to Delaware State Police, around 11:30 a.m., Monday troopers on patrol in the Milton area spotted a black Cadillac sedan traveling northbound on Coastal Highway south of Broadkill Road at a high rate of speed.
The trooper conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and made contact with the operator and sole occupant, identified as 18-year-old Kyree Coxon, of Rehoboth Beach, Delaware.
As police made contact with Coxon, troopers reportedly smelled a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle’s interior.
Coxon was subsequently taken into custody at the scene without incident. A search of the Cadillac led to the discovery of approximately 64.47 grams of marijuana, a FHN 9-millimeter handgun, and over $1,100 in suspected drug proceeds.
Coxon was charged with Possession of a Firearm While Possessing a Controlled Substance (Felony), Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon (Felony), Possession of Marijuana Other Than Personal Use Quantity, and numerous traffic offenses. He was arraigned and released on $8,500 unsecured bond.

A Sussex County man has been sentenced to two years in prison for a hate crime involving a neighbor.
James Raab, of Laurel, was sentenced on April 22 after pleading guilty to felony Hate Crime, Possession of a Deadly Weapon During the Commission of a Felony, Aggravated Menacing, and Resisting Arrest.
Raab, 38, was arrested following investigation into an incident in which he threatened a neighbor with a knife while yelling racial slurs, according to the Delaware Attorney General’s Office.
“These crimes have the potential to shake entire communities and rob them of their sense of peace and security,” said Attorney General Kathy Jennings. “We cannot allow racial, religious, or other hate-motivated crime to fester. I am grateful to the prosecutors in the Division of Civil Rights & Public Trust and Delaware State Police for working to ensure that hate has no safe quarter in this state.”
Raab has remained incarcerated since his arrest on May, 25, 2021. This sentence was secured by Deputy Attorney General David Skoranski with the assistance of DOJ Paralegal Trisha McGinnis following an investigation led by the Delaware State Police, Troop 5.
Andrew White, 35, of Lincoln, DE – Delaware State Police Dept.
A wanted Lincoln man was arrested on felony charges after police say he resisted arrested.
According to Delaware State Police, around 1:30 p.m., Sunday troopers on patrol witnessed 35-year-old Andrew White walking northbound on Greentop Road, south of Ross Road.
The trooper was familiar with White and knew that he had several active warrants for his arrest, according to police. A traffic stop was initiated and during the interaction, police say White fled the scene on foot.
After a brief foot pursuit, the trooper tried to take White into custody, but police say he resisted and had a physical altercation with the trooper.
White was successfully taken into custody and the trooper was not injured during the incident, but there was damage to his uniform.
White was charged with Resisting Arrest (Felony), Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Criminal Mischief, and Disorderly Conduct. He was arraigned and committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution on $2,400 secured bond.

A Virginia man has died following a serious crash with a tractor trailer near Bridgeville.
According to Delaware State Police, the crash occurred just before 2 p.m., Wednesday as a 2022 Freightliner Truck Tractor towing a 2012 Viking Trailer was traveling westbound on Seashore Highway approaching the intersection of Scotts Store Road.
A 2021 Nissan Altima was stopped at the stop sign on at the intersection.
For unknown reasons, police say the driver of the Altima failed to remain stopped as the Freightliner approached and pulled into its path while turning left onto Seashore Highway.
The Freightliner tried to brake and swerve to avoid striking the Nissan, but was unable to resulting in the front right side of the Freightliner striking the left side of the Altima.
The driver and sole occupant of the Freightliner, a 64-year-old Milford man, was properly restrained and was not injured.
The driver of the Nissan, an 80-year-old Alexandria, VA man, was properly restrained and was transported to an area hospital by helicopter in critical condition.
Unfortunately, on Thursday, he passed away as a result of his injuries.
A 77-year-old Alexandria, VA, woman was properly restrained in the front passenger seat. She was transported to an area hospital and admitted with serious injuries.
The road was closed for about 3 and a half hours while the crash was investigated and later cleared.

Delaware State Police are investigating a fatal single motor vehicle crash that occurred early Wednesday morning in the Newark area.
On April 27th, 2022, at approximately 1:09 a.m., a silver Buick LeSabre was traveling westbound on Chestnut Hill Road (Delaware Route 4) west of Salem Church Road. For unknown reasons, the driver veered left off of the roadway and continued traveling in a southwestern direction before the car struck a steel overhead street sign support and a guardrail. The Buick then overturned onto its right side in the center median.
The driver, a 31-year-old Newark female, was not properly restrained and unfortunately was pronounced deceased at the scene due to her injuries. Identification is pending notification to the next-of-kin.
There were no passengers in the Buick, and no one else was reported injured.
The roadway was closed for approximately 2.5 hours while the collision was being investigated. The Delaware State Police Troop 2 Collision Reconstruction Unit continues to investigate this incident. Delaware State Police have arrested two subjects for weapons and drug charges following a traffic stop that occurred on Sunday evening.
On April 24th, 2022 at approximately 8:51 p.m., a trooper on patrol in the Wilmington, DE area observed a black Dodge Challenger traveling at a high rate of speed on southbound Interstate 495 in the area of Cauffiel Parkway. A traffic stop was initiated and the trooper made contact with the occupants, which included 26-year-old Shawn Taylor of Houtzdale, PA and 25-year-old Naim Abdullah of Aston, PA. Upon contacting the occupants, a strong odor of marijuana was detected emitting from the vehicle’s interior. A subsequent search of the Challenger led to the discovery of approximately 0.68 grams of marijuana and a loaded Springfield handgun. Computer checks of Taylor and Abdullah revealed that both subjects were convicted felons prohibited from possessing a firearm.
Taylor and Abdullah were taken into custody without incident and transported to Troop 1, where they were both charged with the following crimes:
Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited (Felony)
Possession of a Firearm While Possessing a Controlled Substance (Felony)
Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon (Felony)
Possession of Marijuana
Both Taylor and Abdullah were arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court # 11 and committed to Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $30,001 cash bond.
Delaware State Police have arrested 26-year-old Devon McCray of Frankford, DE on drug charges following a traffic stop on Sunday afternoon.
On April 24th, 2022 at approximately 3:04 p.m., a trooper on patrol in the Millsboro, DE area observed a motorcycle stopped on the east side of Cannon Road just north of Devon Road. The motorcycle did not have a registration plate displayed, and the operator was observed standing on the roadside. The trooper attempted to contact the individual, but the operator attempted to flee the scene on the motorcycle and then on foot. A foot chase ensued and the operator, identified as Devon McCray, was taken into custody without incident. A search of McCray led to the discovery of approximately 1.743 grams of suspected heroin and approximately 12.22 grams of cocaine.
McCray was transported to Troop 4 and charged with the following offenses:

Possession With Intent to Deliver a Controlled Substance (Felony)
Resisting Arrest
Numerous traffic charges
McCray was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court # 3 and released on $31,350 unsecured bond.
Delaware State Police have arrested 30-year-old Arkeem Adkins of Millsboro, DE for theft of a motor vehicle and other charges following a traffic stop that occurred on Saturday afternoon.
On April 23rd, 2022 at approximately 3:32 p.m., a trooper on patrol in the Dagsboro, DE area observed a black Mercedes C300 traveling at a high rate of speed northbound on Iron Branch Road in the area of Bunting Road. The trooper initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle on Colonial Estates Avenue east of Iron Branch Road and made contact with the operator, identified as Arkeem Adkins. Upon contacting Adkins, a strong odor of marijuana was detected emitting from the vehicle’s interior. A subsequent search of the Mercedes led to the discovery of approximately 0.078 grams of marijuana. A computer inquiry of Adkins showed that he had a suspended driver’s license and an active warrant for his arrest. Computer checks also revealed that the Mercedes C300 had been reported as stolen by Delaware State Police Troop 4 on April 21st, 2022.
Adkins was transported to Troop 4 and charged with the following offenses:
Theft of a Motor Vehicle (Felony)
Theft Under $1,500
Possession of Marijuana
Driving While Suspended / Revoked
Speeding
Adkins was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court # 3 and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on $500 secured bond.

Delaware State Police have arrested 19-year-old Dyquan Snead of Harrington, DE following a traffic stop that occurred on Thursday night.
On April 21st, 2022 at approximately 11:45 p.m., a trooper on patrol in the Lewes, DE area observed a white Nissan Altima traveling northbound on Coastal Highway in the area of Nassau Road. A computer inquiry of the vehicle’s registration revealed that the owner of the Altima, who was listed as Dyquan Snead, had a suspended driver’s license and an active warrant for his arrest. The trooper confirmed Snead was the operator, and a traffic stop was initiated. Upon contacting Snead, a strong odor of marijuana was detected emitting from the vehicle’s interior. Snead was taken into custody without incident, and a subsequent search of the Altima led to the discovery of approximately 90.19 grams of marijuana, drug paraphernalia, over $380 in suspected drug proceeds, and a Smith & Wesson handgun with an obliterated serial number.

Six people have been arrested after an investigation into a wanted individual.
Delaware State Police say on April 20, they responded to the area of Mill Street in Harrington to arrest 22-year-old Khaliell Pitts of Felton for a probation violation. Pitts allegedly fled on foot when contacted by officers, he was arrested a short pursuit later without incident and reportedly has about 1.5 grams of marijuana.
Police say 23-year-old Marc Johnson of Milford, 24-year-old Jackie Mitchell of Dover, 20-year-old Jajuan Reid of Harrington, 21-year-old Tyler Ellingsworth-Conde of Viola, and 24-year-old Laquan Johnson of Wilmington were all with Pitts.
Police say Johnson also fled on foot at was apprehended and found a loaded handgun on him.
Officers also uncovered an additional 123.94 grams of marijuana on Ellingsworth-Conde and Reid had 4.5 grams of marijuana on him.

Delaware State Police have arrested 23-year-old Kyree Robinson of Dover, DE for murder and other related charges following a shooting incident that occurred in Dover in May 2021.
On May 15th, 2021, at approximately 5:42 p.m., troopers responded to Uplift Barber Shop located at 1534 Governors Avenue, Dover, DE for a shooting incident. The investigation determined 23-year-old Javon D. Jones of Dover was a patron in the barbershop when an unknown male suspect entered through the front door of the business and fired multiple shots at Jones, striking him in the upper torso before fleeing on foot. Jones was transported to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.
Through investigative measures, the Delaware State Police Homicide Unit identified Kyree Robinson as the suspect and obtained warrants for his arrest. On April 20th, 2022, Robinson was charged with the following crimes:
Murder First Degree (Felony)
Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony (Felony)
Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited (Felony)
He was arraigned by the Justice of the Peace Court # 2 and issued a $1,070,000 cash bond. Robinson, who was incarcerated at Howard R. Young Correctional Institution at the time of his arraignment, remained in the custody of the Department of Corrections.

29-year-old Jaread Mears and 39-year-old Chad Mitchell, both of Laurel, DE (Left to Right) – Delaware State Police Department
One suspect was arrested and police are searching for a second wanted in connection with the theft and sale of a stolen trailer in Laurel.
According to the Delaware State Police Department, on March 28, troopers responded to the Accurate Pest Control business on Sussex Highway in Laurel for reports that a vehicle trailer had been stolen.
The ensuing investigation revealed that two suspects had stolen a Sure Trac trailer on March 26, according to police. The stolen trailer was later located on March 28 in Seaford after the suspects sold it to a third party.
Through investigative measures, police say it was determined that the two suspects were 29-year-old Jaread Mears and 39-year-old Chad Mitchell, both of Laurel, Delaware.
Mears was apprehended by Georgetown Police on April 15 after police say he tried to flee from officers on foot. He was charged with Theft Over $1,500 (Felony), Selling Stolen Property Over $1,500 (Felony), Conspiracy Second Degree (Felony), and Criminal Trespass Third Degree. He was arraigned and released on $6,050 unsecured bond.
Mitchell has yet to be located and has an active warrant for the same charges. Anyone with information as to his whereabouts is urged to contact police.

43-year-old William Tatman, of Lincoln, DE – Delaware State Police Dept.
A Lincoln man is behind bars after police say he stole a car and led them on a chase through Rehoboth.
According to the Delaware State Police Department, the incident occurred around 5:10 p.m., Saturday as troopers responded to the 20,000 block of Coastal Highway in Rehoboth for a theft in progress.
A white male suspect was spotted going through vehicles on the property and was confronted by a witness, according to police. The suspect then fled towards the Loft apartments across the highway and located a 2006 Infiniti M35 running in the rear of the apartment complex.
Police say the suspect then entered the vehicle belonging to a 21-year-old male victim. As the first trooper arrived on scene, he reportedly witnessed the victim being dragged as he was attempting to open the driver side door to stop the suspect from driving away.
The trooper activated his emergency lights and sirens and tried to stop the suspect, but he fled in the stolen vehicle. A pursuit ensued onto westbound Lewes-Georgetown Highway where the suspect allegedly tried to strike a trooper who was in the process of deploying stop sticks.
The pursuit continued to the area of Route 30 and Reynolds Pond Road where a trooper successfully deployed stop sticks disabling the stolen car. The suspect, identified as 43-year-old William Tatman, was taken into custody without further incident.
Tatman has been charged with Possession of a Deadly Weapon During the Commission of a Felony (Felony)- 2 counts, Reckless Endangering First Degree (Felony)- 2 counts, Disregarding a Police Officer Signal (Felony), Theft of a Motor Vehicle (Felony), Theft Under $1,500- 3 counts, Resisting Arrest, and Numerous Traffic Violations. He was arraigned and committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution on $146,353.00 cash bond.
A 29-year-old man has been hospitalized after he was shot in both legs outside Irish Mike’s bar in Dover.
According to the Dover Police Department, shortly before 1 a.m., Saturday officers were called to the area of Irish Mike’s bar on Loockerman Street after receiving reported of shots fired. When officers arrived, they located a 29-year-old male victim in front of 8 Loockerman Street (Citizen’s Bank) with gunshot wounds to both upper legs.
Officers immediately rendered aid to the victim until emergency medical personnel arrived and transported him to Bayhealth Kent Campus where he remains hospitalized.
Officers located a trail of blood from the front sidewalk of Irish Mike’s to where the victim was located in front of Citizen’s Bank. Video surveillance showed a large disorderly crowd on South Bradford Street, just north of W. Loockerman Street. Police say the crowd dispersed quickly along with a small group of people in front of Irish Mikes, which may have been a result of shots being fired.
During the incident, the victim was spotted running away in the direction of Citizen’s Bank where he was found by officers.

A 17-year-old Middletown teen has died and several more were injured in a serious crash near Lewes.
According to the Delaware State Police Department, the crash occurred around 2:10 p.m., Friday as a 2012 Honda CR-V was traveling eastbound on Lewes-Georgetown Highway (Route 9), approaching the intersection at Ebb Tide Drive.
At the same time, police say a 2009 Ram 1500 was traveling westbound on Lewes-Georgetown Highway, crossing the intersection at Ebb Tide Drive. A non-contact vehicle was stopped eastbound waiting to turn left onto Ebb Tide Drive. A second non-contact vehicle was also slowing to a stop behind that vehicle.
The driver of the Honda failed to see the stopped traffic ahead, according to police, and in an attempt to avoid a collision, swerved left into the westbound lane.
The Ram also swerved towards the shoulder, to avoid the Honda, but the front of both vehicles struck in a near-head-on collision. After impact the Honda overturned and struck a utility pole before coming to rest off the roadway. The Ram came to rest in the same area as the impact.
There were five occupants inside of the Honda: An 18-year-old male of Bear, DE was flown to Christiana Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries; A 17-year-old female of Bear, DE was transported to Beebe Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries; An 18-year-old female of Wilmington, DE was flown to Christiana Hospital in critical condition; A 16-year-old female of Middletown, DE was flown to Christiana Hospital in critical condition; A 17-year-old male of Middletown, DE was transported to Beebe Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased. Identification of the victim is pending notification to the next of kin.
The driver of the Honda has not been confirmed. This remains an active and on-going investigation.
The 77-year-old male operator of the Ram was treated and released at an area hospital for minor injuries.
The roadway was closed for approximately 3 hours while the investigation was completed, and the roadway was cleared.

38-year-old Tara Madden, of Selbyville, DE – Delaware State Police Dept.
A Selbyville woman was arrested on several warrants following a traffic stop in Greenwood.
According to the Delaware State Police Department, the incident occurred around 3:56 p.m., Thursday as an officer with the Greenwood Police Department witnessed a tan Chevrolet Cruze traveling southbound on Sussex Highway in the area of Market Street.
The driver of the Cruze failed to stop at the red light and a traffic stop was initiated. The officer made contact with the driver and owner of the vehicle, 38-year-old Tara Madden. A computer check revealed she had four active criminal warrants for her arrest, stemming from numerous incidents that occurred throughout March and April in the Frankford, Millville, and Millsboro areas.
Madden was taken into custody without incident and transported to Troop 5 where she was charged with Theft of a Controlled Substance (Felony), Theft Greater Than $1,500 (Felony), Theft From a Senior (Felony) – 2 counts, Criminal Mischief, and Offensive Touching. She was arraigned and released on $4,500 unsecured bond.
Dozens were arrested and Delaware State Police are searching for others wanted in connection with a large-scale drug investigation on Delmarva.
In November 2020, Delaware State Police began a large-scale drug investigation named “Operation Dawg House.”
Operation Dawg House targeted the George Johnson Drug Trafficking Organization, where George Johnson, 40, of Bridgeville, was identified as the organization head. Johnson’s organization was targeted due to the increase of heroin overdoses and Clenbuterol profile possession of heroin cases occurring in Sussex County and Worcester County, Maryland.

In Delaware, 16 overdose cases were reported, four being fatal. Additionally, two overdose deaths occurred in Worcester and Wicomico County, Maryland.
The year-long investigation involved local and state agencies in Delaware, Maryland and Pennsylvania working together to combat the heroin and opioid drug distribution.
During the investigation, numerous members of Johnson’s organization were identified, and a hierarchy of distribution was established. In total, 55 individuals were indicted or arrested on street warrants.
Currently, 51 individuals have been arrested and four individuals are still wanted, including George Johnson.

Delaware State Police Sergeant Gary Fournier of Delaware State Police Troop 3 Patrol was recently recognized by Special Olympics Delaware as the recipient of the 2022 Winnie Spence Torch Runner of the Year.
The Torch Runner of the Year award is the most prestigious honor presented to a law enforcement officer who supports the ideals, values, and principles of the Delaware Law Enforcement for Special Olympics movement.
Sergeant Fournier received this award at a ceremony held on April 12, 2022, for his extensive involvement with Special Olympics Delaware (SODE). Over 25 years ago, Sergeant Fournier began volunteering with Special Olympics Delaware as a recruit trooper. However, his passion for this program started as a young child growing up in New York.
Sergeant Fournier has fond memories of attending Special Olympic competitions to watch his cousin participate in various events. As a result, when he had the chance to participate in the Special Olympics Torch Run as a Recruit Trooper in the Delaware State Police Training Academy, he did so without hesitation.
Since his initial Torch Run approximately 25 years ago, Sergeant Fournier’s involvement has expanded in positions held and time spent volunteering with Special Olympics. In 2012, he became a member of the Delaware Law Enforcement for Special Olympics Executive Committee and served in Kent County as a fundraiser and leg coordinator for the annual Law Enforcement Torch Run. In addition, Sergeant Fournier used his experience as a Delaware State Police Public Information Officer to ensure messaging related to the Torch Run events, activities, and purpose was effectively communicated to the community and media.
In addition, as the Delaware State Police Motorcycle Supervisor, Sergeant Fournier has coordinated motorcycle escorts for several SODE events, including the Torch Run, Ride to the Tide, and Truck Convoy events. He is also involved as a volunteer and participant in events such as Dodgeball Madness, Over the Edge, 5k Run to the Plunge, and the Polar Bear Plunge. In 2019, through his work with the Special Olympics of Delaware was awarded the honor of representing Delaware in the 2019 Law Enforcement Torch Run for the Special Olympics Final Leg at the World Games in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
At the 2022 Summer Games Opening Ceremony, Sergeant Fournier will be presenting the “Flame of Hope” to the Athlete of the Year, Steve Dagg. It will be one more opportunity for Sergeant Fournier to present an athlete with a symbol of accomplishment, as he has done numerous times. Special Olympics Delaware credits Sergeant Fournier’s efforts over the past 25 years for what contributed to him winning the title of 2022 “Winnie Spence Torch Runner of the Year.”

Delaware State Police are investigating after a home was shot up in Lincoln.
According to the Delaware State Police Department, on Tuesday troopers responded to a residence in the 10000 block of Dupont Boulevard for a report of shots fired. The investigation revealed that on April 11th, around 10 p.m., a 38-year-old female was inside of the home when she heard gunshots outside.
After further investigation the following morning, police say the resident discovered multiple bullet holes in the exterior of the home and in a vehicle parked outside. In addition, there was an 18-year-old male and two juveniles inside the home at the time of the shooting. No one was injured.
At this time there is no suspect information or surveillance images available.

Delaware State Police have arrested 27-year-old Arthur Darden of Dover, DE for weapons and drug offenses following a traffic stop on Monday afternoon.
On April 11th, 2022, at approximately 12:41 p.m., a trooper on patrol in Laurel, DE observed a black Kia Sportage speeding and changing lanes without signaling on Sussex Highway south of Gordy Road. A traffic stop was initiated on Sussex Highway at Dorothy Road and contact was made with the operator, identified as Arthur Darden. Troopers observed signs of impairment on Darden and opened alcohol containers inside the vehicle. A subsequent DUI investigation ensued and Darden was taken into custody without incident. A search of the vehicle led to the discovery of approximately 13.79 grams of marijuana, a pair of brass knuckles, and a 9-millimeter handgun. A computer inquiry revealed Darden is a convicted felon prohibited from possessing a firearm.
Darden was transported to Troop 5 and charged with the following offenses:

Delaware State Police arrested 50-year-old Richard Cook of Lincoln, DE for 8th-offense DUI and other charges following a crash investigation on Monday afternoon.
On April 11th, 2022, at approximately 2:57 p.m., troopers responded to the intersection of southbound Dupont Boulevard and Redden Road, Georgetown, DE regarding a motor vehicle collision. Upon their arrival, troopers contacted Richard Cook, the operator of a black Nissan Quest. The Quest had overturned onto its side in the wooded area west of Dupont Boulevard, and the two passengers, a 49-year-old female victim, and a 45-year-old male victim had sustained non-life-threatening injuries. The victims were transported to Bayhealth Sussex Hospital for medical treatment. Troopers observed signs of impairment on Cook and a DUI investigation ensued. Cook was subsequently taken into custody without incident at the scene. A search of Cook’s vehicle led to the discovery of approximately 2.04 grams of marijuana, suspected liquid heroin, drug paraphernalia, two fixed-blade knives, and a Hopkins & Allen Arms Co. revolver. Cook is a convicted felon who is prohibited from possessing firearms and/or deadly weapons.
A computer inquiry revealed that Cook’s driver’s license was suspended and he had been convicted for seven prior DUI offenses. Cook was transported to Troop 5 and charged with the following offenses:

A dispute between two neighbors led to the arrest of both after they opened fire on each other outside their homes in Millsboro.
According to Delaware State Police, the incident occurred around 6:42 p.m., Saturday when troopers responded to reports of a shooting in the 28000 block of Mount Joy Road.
The investigation determined 36-year-old Curtis Collick, and 47-year-old Clayton Sample, both of Millsboro, who are neighbors, were involved in a verbal dispute outside their homes on Mount Joy Road.
The argument escalated and both men fired multiple gunshots at each other, according to police. Curtis was struck one time in the lower torso area and fled in a vehicle prior to the arrival of police.
Troopers responding to the scene spotted Curtis’ vehicle and a traffic stop was conducted.
EMS responded and transported him to an area hospital where he was treated for a non-life-threatening injury and released. Clayton was uninjured and taken into custody without incident at the scene and transported to Delaware State Police Troop 4.
Curtis was charged with Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony (Felony), Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited (Felony), and Reckless Endangering First Degree (Felony). He was arraigned and committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution on $152,000.00 cash bond.
Clayton was charged with Assault First Degree (Felony), Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited (Felony), and Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony (Felony). He was arraigned and committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution on $130,000.00 cash bond.
Two men have been arrested for the shooting death of a 49-year-old Laurel man on Thursday.
Delaware State Police say they responded to the 18000 block of Laurel Road just after midnight on reports of a shooting. When officers arrived, they found the victim with a gunshot wound to his torso. He was pronounced dead on the scene.
An investigation determined that the victim had gotten into an altercation with 18-year-old Josiah Garrison of Denton, MD and 21-year-old Ramon Duker of Millsboro. Police say after the victim was shot in the altercation, the men allegedly held an acquaintance of the victim at gunpoint to drive away from the scene.
Police apprehended the suspects after they went to Beebe Medical Center in Lewes to treat an injury.
Duker and Garrison face several charges, including:

Delaware State Police arrested a juvenile male for firearm and related charges after a shooting that occurred in Magnolia on Monday evening.
On April 4th, 2022 at approximately 8:26 p.m., troopers responded to Juanita Drive in Magnolia, DE regarding a report of shots fired. The ensuing investigation revealed that the suspect had fired multiple gunshots from a vehicle at a residence. The residence was occupied by three victims (ages 38, 32, and 14) at the time, all of whom were not injured. The residence was struck several times and suspect fled the area to an unknown destination.
Through investigative means, a 15-year-old male was developed as the suspect. On April 6th, 2022, the juvenile male was located in Dover and taken into custody without incident. He was subsequently charged with the following crimes:

A Dover man is wanted on felony theft and forgery charges in Laurel.
According to the Laurel Police Department, officers are currently conducting a felony investigation that occurred on April 4, 2022 at the Bank of Delmarva located at 200 E Market Street.
At this time, police say the primary suspect in the investigation has been identified as 34-year-old Anthony J. Oscar, of Dover, Delaware.
Oscar is currently wanted out of the Laurel Police Department for Theft Over $1500, Forgery 2nd Degree, and Conspiracy 2nd Degree. Additionally, he is wanted for similar charges by the Seaford Police Department and by the Kent County Court of Common Pleas for a Failure to Appear capias.
Oscar was last seen occupying a newer model Honda sedan with an unknown driver.

Delaware State Police arrested 20-year-old Amir Harris of Millsboro, DE on drug and weapons charges following a traffic stop on Tuesday morning.
On April 5th, 2022 at approximately 12:15 a.m., a trooper on patrol in the Millsboro area observed a gray Pontiac sedan traveling southbound on Dupont Boulevard south of Delaware Avenue. The trooper observed the Pontiac fail to remain within its lane of travel and also commit a turn signal violation. A traffic stop was then initiated on Parker Circle, Millsboro. Upon contacting the operator and sole occupant, identified as Amir Harris, the trooper detected the strong odor of marijuana emitting from inside of the vehicle. Harris was asked to exit the vehicle, and as Harris complied, he fled the scene on foot. Troopers gave chase and took Harris into custody a short distance away. Upon detaining Harris, troopers discovered he was in possession of approximately .035 grams of suspected heroin and a loaded U.S. Revolver Company handgun with five .32 caliber rounds. Harris has a prior felony conviction and is a person prohibited from possessing firearms and/or ammunition.
Harris was transported to Troop 4 and charged with the following crimes:

Delaware State Police arrested 25-year-old Andrew Long of Millsboro, DE on drug and weapon charges following a traffic stop Saturday night.

On April 2, 2022, at approximately 7:06 p.m., a trooper on patrol in the area of Park Avenue, Georgetown observed a Blue Ford Explorer operated by Andrew Long who had active warrants for his arrest and did not possess a valid license. A traffic stop was initiated, and upon Long pulling his vehicle to the shoulder of the roadway, he immediately exited and began to flee on foot while carrying a handgun. The trooper chased the suspect and gave verbal commands. Long eventually gave up, dropped the gun, and was subsequently taken into custody without further incident. The loaded 9mm handgun was recovered and a search of the vehicle led to the discovery of approximately 1.3 grams of marijuana. A computer inquiry revealed Long is a person prohibited from possessing a weapon.

Delaware State Police arrested 47-year-old Robert Berry of Wilmington, DE following a burglary investigation in Wilmington on Thursday morning.

On March 31st, 2022 at approximately 10:02 a.m., troopers and officers from the Wilmington Police Department and New Castle County Police Department responded to the Family Dollar located at 4331 Governor Printz Boulevard, Wilmington, DE for a reported burglary in progress. Upon their arrival responding officers observed a male suspect climbing onto the roof of the business. Troopers and officers established a perimeter around the Merchants Square shopping center. The male suspect was then taken into custody as he exited a vacant building just south of the Family Dollar. Further investigation revealed the suspect, identified as Robert Berry, had attempted to steal copper from air conditioning units on the roof of the Family Dollar. A computer inquiry also revealed Berry was wanted and had active warrants for prior thefts.
Berry was subsequently transported to Troop 2 where he was charged with the following offenses:

Theft Greater Than $1,500 (Felony)

A traffic stop in Dover leads to a drugs and weapons arrest on Tuesday evening.
Delaware State Police say a trooper stopped 20-year-old Tyler Shabazz of Magnolia after he made a lane change without signaling in the area of South Dupont Highway and Webbs Lane.
The trooper noticed a smell of marijuana inside the vehicle and conducted a probable search without incident.
The search uncovered 440 grams of marijuana, a loaded 9mm handgun, four magazines and ammunition, digital scale and over $250 in drug proceeds.
Shabazz was lodged in SCI on $27,001 secure bond. He faces several charges, including:

18-year-old Tyre Thomas, of Laurel, DE – Delaware State Police Dept.
Delaware State Police have arrested two teens, including a 15-year-old, on drug and weapons charges in Laurel.
According to the Delaware State Police Department, the incident occurred around 1:07 p.m., as a trooper on patrol in Laurel observed a white Cadillac speeding on Laurel Road in the area of Shiloh Church Road.
A traffic stop was initiated and upon contact with the operator, 18-year-old Tyre Thomas, and the front seat passenger, a 15-year-old juvenile male, the trooper immediately detected an odor of marijuana coming from inside of the vehicle.
Troopers asked the juvenile passenger to exit the vehicle and a probable cause search of him was conducted. During this search, troopers discovered that the juvenile was in possession of approximately 40 grams of marijuana, a digital scale, and a loaded 9-millimeter Ruger handgun.
Police later learned that the handgun was reported stolen by Milford Police Department in September, 2020. During a subsequent probable cause search of the vehicle, troopers also located approximately 25 grams of marijuana and a digital scale inside a backpack.
Both the juvenile and Thomas were transported to Troop 5 and charged.
The 15-year-old has been charged with Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited (Felony), Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon (Felony), Receiving a Stolen Firearm (Felony), Possession of a Deadly Weapon During the Commission of a Felony (Felony), Possession of Marijuana, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
The juvenile was arraigned and committed to Stevenson House on $25,502 secured bond.
Thomas was arraigned on possession of marijuana, drug paraphernalia, and speeding charges and released on his own recognizance.
A Laurel woman was arrested and the search is on for a Seaford man after police say the two broke into a motel room and assaulted a man over the weekend.
According to the Delaware State Police Department, the incident shortly before 9 p.m., Sunday when troopers responded to the Lakeside Motel on Sussex Highway for reports of an altercation.
Police arrived and determined Faedra Parker and her accomplice, 33-year-old Junior Dorvilier, of Seaford, forced their way into a motel room, occupied by a 25-year-old victim/acquaintance and physically assaulted him.
The victim sustained injuries to his head during the incident but refused medical treatment at the scene.
The two suspects fled the scene in an unknown direction in a vehicle belonging to Parker, according to police. Troopers, with the assistance of local police agencies, tried to locate the suspects but were unsuccessful. Troopers then obtained active warrants for the arrests of both of them.
On Monday, Parker turned herself into the Laurel Police Department and was charged with the following crimes: Burglary 1st Degree (Felony), Strangulation (Felony), Conspiracy 2nd Degree (Felony), and Assault Third Degree. She was arraigned and released on her own recognizance.
Dorvilier has not been located at this time and is currently wanted for Burglary 1st Degree (Felony), Conspiracy 2nd Degree (Felony), and Offensive Touching. He also has multiple active warrants for a vehicle pursuit that occurred in October, 2021. He is described as a black male with dreadlock-style hair, approximately 6’2” tall, and weighing approximately 175 pounds. He could possibly be in the Seaford or Laurel areas. Anyone with any information on his whereabouts is urged to contact police.
On March 24 Carlisle units responded to a reported MVC with entrapment on route 1 northbound. One patient was extricated and transported to the hospital by Helicopter. Carlisle received assistance from Station 49, Frederica Fire Company, Sussex County Paramedics, and Trooper 2 from the Delaware State Police. The patient was extracted in a short matter of time and the road was reopened approximately 45 minutes later.

Delaware State Police Homicide Unit arrested Marcus Bailey, 18, of Wilmington, for the homicide that took place Thursday afternoon in the Capitol Park community in Dover.
On March 24, 2022, at approximately 3:50 p.m., troopers responded to Senator Avenue for a reported shooting. The investigation determined a 33-year-old Dover man, was seated in the driver seat of a vehicle parked on Senator Avenue when Marcus Bailey entered the backseat of the car. Marcus engaged in a conversation with the victim before demanding the victim’s property. At some point during the encounter, the victim was shot in the upper torso. Marcus then fled the vehicle in an unknown direction of travel. The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Through investigative measures, the Delaware State Police identified Marcus Bailey as the suspect involved in this shooting incident. On March 26, 2022, Marcus was taken into custody without incident during a traffic stop in the Long Neck Wawa parking lot. He was transported to Delaware State Police Troop 7 where he was charged with the following crimes:

Delaware State Police are investigating a shooting incident that occurred outside a New Castle gas station Thursday afternoon.
On March 24, 2022, at approximately 1:00 p.m., a 33-year-old Smyrna man arrived at Valero located at 891 S. Dupont Highway, New Castle, to get fuel. He pulled his vehicle into the diesel pump before realizing he was at the wrong pump. He reversed his car to another gas pump when a black male standing outside of a passenger vehicle parked at a nearby gas pump fired multiple rounds at the victim as he was still reversing. The victim immediately placed his car in drive, fled the area, and drove to a nearby hospital. The victim was struck multiple times and was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
After the shooting, the unknown suspect fled the area northbound onto Bear Road. There is currently no suspect information or surveillance footage available.

Delaware State Police Homicide Unit is currently conducting a homicide investigation that took place Thursday afternoon in the Capitol Park community in Dover.
On March 24, 2022, at approximately 3:50 p.m., troopers responded to Senator Avenue for a reported shooting. The investigation determined a 33-year-old Dover man was seated in the driver seat of a vehicle parked on Senator Avenue when an unknown male entered the backseat of the car. The male engaged in a conversation with the victim before demanding the victim’s property. At some point during the encounter, the victim was shot in the upper torso. The unknown male suspect then fled the vehicle in an unknown direction of travel.

Delaware State Police Troop 6 is issuing a Gold Alert for Nina Leona Caulk, 40, of New Castle County. Nina was last seen on March 19, 2022, at approximately 1:00 p.m., in the area of Ogletown Stanton Rd., Newark, with her newborn daughter. Attempts to locate Nina have been unsuccessful and there is a concern for Nina and her newborn daughter’s safety.
Nina is described as a light skin black female, black hair, brown eyes, 123 lbs., and approximately 5’06” tall.
The only descriptive information available regarding the infant is she is a black female that is approximately 1 week old. (No photograph is available).
Nina and the infant are possibly traveling in an unknown vehicle in Virginia.
Delaware State Police arrested Derrick Stevens, 33, and Alexis Wierzbicki, 21, both of Wilmington, DE, on drugs and weapon charges following a week-long drug investigation.
Delaware State Police New Castle County Governor’s Task Force (GTF) members conducted a drug investigation at the Red Roof Inn located at 415 Stanton Christiana Road, Newark, after receiving information of illegal drug sales taken place at a motel room. On March 23, 2022, at approximately 9:35p.m., Governor’s Task Force (GTF) members located two subjects identified as Alexis Wierzbicki and Derrick Stevens leaving their motel room and took them into custody without incident. Subsequently, troopers executed a search warrant on the motel room and discovered a loaded .38 Special Smith & Wesson Revolver, approximately .4 grams of crack cocaine, approximately .46 grams of heroin, and over $500 in suspected drug proceeds.

A Seaford woman was arrested on drug charges following a police chase that resulted in the discovery of heroin and cocaine.
According to the Delaware State Police Department, the incident occurred shortly before 9 p.m., Sunday night as troopers on patrol witnessed a Ford F-150 traveling over the posted speed limit eastbound on Hardscrabble Road, in the area of Shiloh Church Road.
Troopers initiated a traffic stop, but the vehicle failed to stop and a pursuit ensued. The Ford fled eastbound on Hardscrabble Road where it ran off the road in the area of Governor Stockley Road and began driving through a field.
While in the field, police say the Ford struck a ditch and became disabled. The driver then exited the vehicle and tried to flee on foot.
Troopers gave chase and took the suspect, later identified as 23-year-old Taylor Hurley, into custody without further incident. Police later discovered she was in possession of approximately 7.71 grams of cocaine and a gram of heroin.
The two troopers involved in the apprehension suffered minor injuries and were evaluated at an area hospital.
Hurley was transported to Delaware State Police Troop 4 where she was charged with Possession with Intent to Distribute a Controlled Substance Tier 1 Quantity (Felony), Disregarding a Police Officer Signal (Felony), Resisting Arrest, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia- 2 counts, and several traffic violations. She was arraigned and committed to the Delores J. Baylor Women’s Correctional Institution on a $8,625 secured bond.
Delaware State Police are investigating an officer involved shooting that resulted in a fatality in Dewey Beach.
A press conference was held around 1 p.m., Saturday where Delaware State Police confirmed that around 1:15 a.m. early that morning Dewey Beach Police were called to the Starboard Restaurant and Bar in Dewey Beach for reports of someone leaving the establishment with a firearm.
Police arrived and the man, later identified as Rodney K. Robinson II, 21, of Milford, fled on foot about three blocks and evaded troopers, according to police. He later returned to the restaurant and entered a restricted section of the establishment that was for employees only.
At that time, officers arrived and located the suspect on the patio where he was chased onto Coastal Highway and then into an alley off Saulsbury Street. A single round was shot by a one-and-half year veteran of the police department. The suspect suffered a single gunshot wound to the upper torso.
Police located a handgun at the scene. Live saving efforts were made and EMS were called; however, the suspect, a 21-year-old Milford man, was pronounced dead after being transported to a local hospital.
Anyone with any information, or anyone who may have witnessed the incident, is urged to contact police.
Durron E. Jones II, of Sussex County, DE – Delaware State Police Dept.
Delaware State Police are searching for a Sussex County man wanted on multiple warrants for violating his probation.
30-year-old Durron E. Jones II is currently wanted for multiple warrants, capias’, and violation of probation. He is described as a black male, approximately 6’2″, weighing approximately 180 lbs.
Durron may be in the Dagsboro, Seaford, Bridgeville, or Delmar areas.
Attempts to locate Durron have been unsuccessful and troopers are asking anyone who has information regarding his whereabouts to contact the Troop 4 Governor’s Task Force by calling 302.752.3822 or Delaware Crime Stoppers at 1-800-TIP-3333.

Brittallia Semaan, of New Castle, DE – Delaware State Police Dept.
A New Castle woman is behind bars on multiple felony charges, including vehicular homicide, after police say she carjacked a vehicle and struck and killed a man.
According to Delaware State Police, the incident occurred around 9:30 a.m., Sunday, March 13 as troopers were dispatched to the area of 4049 New Castle Avenue for a reported carjacking. The initial investigation determined a female suspect, later identified as Brittallia Semaan, entered the front passenger side of a parked white Chevrolet Trax.
A 67-year-old male and 66-year-old female attempted to remove Brittallia from their SUV but were unsuccessful as she moved into the driver’s seat. As Brittallia attempted to flee the area, the female victim was struck by the SUV and sustained non-life-threatening injuries. At the time of the initial carjacking, two juveniles were seated in the backseat of the SUV but were successfully able to exit before Brittallia fled with the Trax southbound on RT. 9.
Moments later, Brittallia struck a 48-year-old New Castle man just south of Boothhurst Blvd. The victim was transported by EMS to an area hospital where he, unfortunately, died from his injuries. Identification is pending notification to next of kin. This fatal pedestrian collision remains under investigation by the Delaware State Police Troop 2 Collision Reconstruction Unit. Additional information regarding the crash will be released once it becomes available.
After the fatal pedestrian crash, Brittallia flees southbound into Old New Castle and enters the parking lot of the SPCA located in the area of South Street and 6th Street. At the same time, a 19-year-old female pedestrian was walking in the parking lot. For unknown reasons, Brittallia swerved into the pedestrian’s path, striking her. Fortunately, the victim sustained minor injuries.
Brittallia then exited the parking lot and traveled southbound on South Street before turning right onto Washington Street and began traveling northbound. At the same time, a Maserati was traveling southbound on Washington Street, approaching Brittallia’s vehicle.
For unknown reasons, Brittallia crossed over the double yellow line and crashed head-on with the Maserati on Rt 141 just before the intersection of SR 273. The driver, a 34-year-old Wilmington man, and passenger, a 26-year-old Wilmington woman, sustained non-life-threatening injuries during the crash.
After the crash occurred, a good Samaritan stopped at the crash scene to help. At that time, Brittallia entered the backseat of the 62-year-old New Castle man’s Ford Explorer. He confronted her and told her to exit his car. As she complied, she quickly entered the driver’s seat and attempted to flee the scene. The 62-year-old male tried to stop Brittallia but was unsuccessful and was dragged a short distance but was uninjured. As Brittallia fled the scene, a 77-year-old New Castle woman was still seated in the front passenger seat.
With the female passenger still in the Explorer, Brittallia continued traveling onto southbound River Road, where she collided with the rear of a Honda Odyssey in the area of Hamburg Rd. The 52-year-old female driver and the 77-year-old female passenger in Brittallia’s vehicle sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
An off-duty Wilmington Police Department Officer observed the second carjacking and followed Brittallia when he observed the final collision. With the assistance of a former New Castle County Police Officer, who had also stopped to render aid at the scene, Brittallia Semaan was apprehended until Troopers arrived. Brittallia was taken into custody and transported to Delaware State Police Troop 2, where this investigation remains ongoing. Once charges and mugshot become available, a press release will be issued.

Delaware State Police are conducting an in-custody death investigation after a man wanted for 2nd Degree Rape died while in transport to the police station.
According to the Delaware State Police Department, the incident occurred around 10 a.m., Wednesday as detectives responded to the Bait and Tackle Shop at the Indian River Inlet located at 25012 Coastal Highway, in an attempt to reach 72-year-old Stanley Bradley, of Milton, Delaware.
Police received information that Bradley may have been at the business hanging out. He was wanted on an outstanding warrant for Rape 2nd Degree (Felony), according to police.
As detectives pulled into the parking lot, Bradley was spotted leaving the business. Contact was made with him, at which time police say he was very cooperative and was taken into custody without incident.
Bradley was placed in the front seat of the detectives’ divisionally issued Ford Taurus, with one of the detectives sitting in the backseat and the other driving. As the vehicle was traveling to Delaware State Police Troop 3 on Coastal Highway, in the area of Johnson Road, Bradley reportedly requested the detectives pull over because he thought he was suffering from a medical event.
Detectives immediately pulled over and both exited the vehicle to check on Bradley, who was now unconscious, police said. One detective immediately called 911 to request medical assistance as the other began performing CPR. Life-saving measures were performed until EMS arrived, who continued CPR before transporting Bradley to Bayhealth Sussex Campus.
Bradley was stabilized and transported to Bayhealth Hospital in Dover where he died at approximately 6 p.m.
The investigation revealed Bradley had a long medical history and had been hospitalized multiple times during the last year for cardiac issues. Bradley was turned over to the Delaware Division of Forensic Science for an autopsy to be performed.
On March 10, the Medical Examiner ruled Bradley died from natural causes pending a toxicology examination. There was nothing suspicious and no signs of trauma found during the investigation.
This case remains pending active by the Delaware State Police Criminal Investigations Unit pending the toxicology results. Due to the sensitive nature of the charges that Bradley was wanted for, police say no further information will be released regarding the case.
Delaware State Police are warning the public amid reports of scammers posing as State Police.
The Delaware State Police Department has been investigating multiple incidents in which victims have been receiving phone calls from individuals posing as troopers and advising they are wanted and owe bail money. These individuals are utilizing spoofed, Delaware State Police issued phone numbers.
As a reminder, the Delaware State Police will never request payment for fines, traffic tickets or bail. All these transactions are conducted by the respective court systems and never over the phone. Electronic payments are also never requested via phone for court matters.
“Spoofing” is when a caller deliberately falsifies the information transmitted to your caller ID display to disguise their identity. Spoofing is often used as part of an attempt to trick someone into giving away valuable personal information so it can be used in fraudulent activity or sold illegally.
The following tips can help you avoid becoming victim to a spoofing scam:
Don’t answer calls from unknown numbers. If you do so by accident, hang up.
If a caller (live or recorded) suggests hitting a button to stop receiving calls from them, hang up. This can be a trick to engage you in conversation.
Never give out any personally identifiable information – for example, account numbers, Social Security Number, passwords or PINs, or your mother’s maiden name.
If a caller claims to be with a legitimate company, call back using the phone number on a statement you have from them, or on their verified, secure website. This is particularly important if the caller asks you to verify personal information or make a payment.
If you are immediately pressured for information – be cautious. You are not obligated to answer any question asked of you.
Set your own password for your voicemail. Some voicemail services are set up to automatically allow access to your mailbox if you call in from your own phone. If a scammer spoofs your number, they can access your messages unless there is a password or PIN requirement in place.
Use a call blocking tool (talk to your phone company) or reputable app on your mobile device. There are different options for different platforms. Do some research and choose the one that makes the most sense for you.
It’s being called the largest drug bust in the state’s history. 55 individuals indicted on multiple drug and weapons charges involving law enforcement agencies in Maryland and Delaware dubbed “Operation Dawg House”.
During a press conference yesterday, Attorney General Kathy Jennings announced the charges levied against the suspects.
“In the midst of an addiction epidemic that claims more than 400 lives a year – and in which Delaware has consistently been one of the country’s three hardest-hit states – this operation saved lives,” Jennings says. “We need to help our neighbors in need get on the path to recovery, and need to hold accountable everyone who has helped fuel the addiction crisis – from the industry that sowed the seeds of the epidemic to the drug traffickers who profit off of it today. I am profoundly grateful to DSP and the team that led this investigation, and to each of our neighbors who are working to help us rebuild from the devastation of this crisis.”
The two-year investigation on the operation began in November 2020. Through the investigation, George Johnson was developed as the leader of the criminal enterprise, along with several other individuals accused of major contributors to the heroin epidemic in the state.
Wicomico County Sheriff Mike Lewis, who was part of the multi-state investigation, says this was the largest bust he’s seen in his 38-year career.
“Large scale drug traffickers have no boundaries. Consequently, based on the collaborative efforts of multiple law enforcement agencies representing numerous jurisdictions along the east coast, we have charged these individuals with orchestrating a drug distribution network that would be the envy of any fortune 500 company. The organization had enough fentanyl and heroin to kill thousands of Marylanders.”
In total, over 330,000 bags of heroin with a street value of over $1.6 million were seized – along with 771 grams of marijuana, 5.8 of cocaine, and 10 ecstasy doses. Three stolen firearms with their serial numbers scratched off were also seized, along with $65,000 in suspected drug proceeds.
Delaware State Police Captain John Wood says the investigation began when a series of overdose deaths started. At the start 2021 alone, there were 6 deaths related to Johnson’s product.
“The successful closure of large-scale narcotics investigations would not be possible without the collaborative efforts of all involved agencies,” Worcester County Sheriff Matthew Crisafulli says in a statement. “This case closure has undoubtedly saved thousands of lives in Maryland and Delaware. I applaud all of the law enforcement agencies involved in this complex investigation. I am proud to be associated with the men and women who worked tirelessly, to unravel this enormous narcotics investigation.”
44 of the individuals, including Johnson, have been arrested – with two suspects awaiting extradition from Maryland. Warrants have been issued for 9 other. In total, 232 felony charges have been issued along with 38 misdemeanors.
UPDATE: We reached out to Delaware State Police to ask for more information on the case and where the busts occurred. They tell us that “the investigation came to a close in late November with a tactical traffic stop conducted by DSP SORT, and 5 simultaneous residential search warrants in Delaware and Maryland. The seized items came mostly from these events; however, some of the listed items were seized during the course of the investigation.”
“There were a series of smaller seizures made during the course of the investigation at various points from 09/22/21-12/03/21. Those smaller seizures were the other photographs contained in the press packet. Then there was the large seizure of 2,500 logs (2,275 grams / 2.275 kilos) of Heroin that was seized at the conclusion of the investigation on December 03, 2021. That seizure occurred in the Felton area in Kent County as the product was being transported to the Laurel area.”
Delaware State Police are investigating an overnight shooting in Magnolia that left one person dead.
The incident occurred just after midnight in the 200 block of Jeffrey Drive in the London Village community on Thursday. When police arrived, they found a 30-year old Magnolia man with a gunshot wound to his torso. He was transported to an area hospital where he later died.
Parts of nearby Jeffrey Road was closed for several hours as homicide detectives were investigating the incident.

Four people face several drug and weapons charges after police say they were spotted dealing drugs at a gas station parking lot in Magnolia.
Delaware State Police arrested 18-year-old Madalynn Webber of Camden, 23-year-old Phillip Cubbage Jr. of Dover, 21-year-old Justin Webber of Magnolia and 20-year-old Ronald Webber (also from Magnolia) after they were allegedly observed dealing drugs at the Liberty gas station on West Birdie Lane. When officers stopped the vehicle, occupied by Ronald and Justin Webber, a strong odor of marijuana was detected and both suspects were detained.
A 6-year-old child was also in the vehicle.
A search uncovered a loaded 9mm handgun, over 114 grams of marijuana, 2 electronic scales, over 66 ml of THC oils, and several rounds of ammunition.
An investigation led back to the suspect’s residence in the 500 block of Hollering Hill Road in Camden, were the other two suspects were. A search uncovered a trove of drugs, weapons and over $10,000 in drug proceeds.
Each suspect faces a long list of drug and weapons charges, along with child endangerment charges and were released on their own recognizance. Cubbage was lodged in Sussex Correctional Institute on a $57,500 cash bond.

Delaware Attorney General Kathy Jennings announced Tuesday that the Division of Civil Rights & Public Trust (DCRPT) has reached a pre-indictment plea agreement with a former Dover police officer who experienced an opioid overdose in his patrol vehicle and later tested positive for fentanyl and marijuana.
“This should remind us that the addiction epidemic affects everyone,” said Attorney General Jennings. “The defendant’s conduct was obviously illegal, totally incompatible with the standards we should hold law enforcement to, and could easily have turned deadly for him or someone else – he is frankly fortunate that his fellow officers found him in time to save his life. At the same time, justice in these situations requires both accountability and compassion. The defendant’s struggle with substance abuse is a familiar story for thousands of Delawareans, and just like anyone else he has our empathy in his journey to recovery. This sentence allows him to get the help he needs while permanently separating him from a position of public trust because he can no longer be trusted.”
“When viewed through a human lens, the Dover Police Department has empathy for anyone battling the challenges associated with drug abuse and connections to treatment services were offered to our employee,” said Dover Police Chief Thomas Johnson Jr. “However; when viewed through a professional lens, this kind of behavior can never be tolerated. Not for a minute. A trust was violated. In addition to the risks to his own life, he took chances with the safety of his co-workers and members of the public that were not his to take. Through appropriate investigation, this unprofessional conduct was determined to be criminal in nature.
“Once the facts were established, it became clear that Mr. Vieira could no longer be a Police Officer. The responsibilities of the job are just too serious and the public deserves the best resources that we can provide. We have already begun to examine the factors that lead up to the overdose emergency and will evaluate them against our existing code of conduct policies and early detection mechanisms. Appropriate changes to policy and/or practice will be made at the earliest possible time.”
On November 26, 2021, officers from the Dover Police Department located Pfc. Steven Vieira, 30, near Schutte Park after dispatch repeatedly and unsuccessfully tried to reach him. Responding officers found Vieira unconscious in his patrol vehicle and showing signs of overdose.
After administering first aid and two doses of Narcan, officers escorted Vieira to Bayhealth Hospital. Upon initial belief that Vieira had experienced an accidental fentanyl exposure during his duties, Dover PD conducted a search of his vehicle and uncovered an eyeglass case containing what was determined to be oxycodone hydrochloride, a prescription opioid, and various drug paraphernalia. A subsequent blood test revealed fentanyl and cannabinoid in Vieira’s system.
Vieira pleaded guilty to Driving Under the Influence of Drugs and Official Misconduct, both Class A Misdemeanors, and was sentenced to a 12-month prison sentence suspended to 12 months Level II probation, with his probation dischargeable following drug counseling.
As part of his plea, Vieira has resigned from the Dover Police Department and surrendered all Council on Police Training (COPT) certifications, rendering him permanently ineligible for employment as a police officer. Dover PD placed Vieira on administrative leave pending its own internal investigation, notified the Department of Justice, and cooperated fully with DCRPT’s investigation. Deputy Attorneys General Mark Denney represented the State in this matter, following a DCRPT investigation led by DOJ Investigator Tim Argoe.

A Bridgeville man was killed and several people were injured following a serious crash in Harrington.
According to Delaware State Police, the crash occurred around 6:53 p.m., Sunday as a 31-year-old Marydel, Maryland man was driving a Honda Civic northbound on South DuPont Hwy in the left lane approaching the intersection of Hopkins Cemetery Road.
The Civic entered the left turn lane and median crossover and then, without stopping, began crossing southbound onto South DuPont Hwy to Hopkins Cemetery Road. At the same time, a 31-year-old Salisbury, Maryland woman was driving a GMC Terrain southbound on South DuPont Hwy in the right lane approaching the intersection of Hopkins Cemetery Road.
As the Honda crossed into the path of the GMC, the front bumper of the GMC struck the Honda’s passenger side door in the right lane of South DuPont Hwy. After the collision, the GMC pushed the Honda into a stop sign and then into the parking lot of a nearby furniture store.
The 31-year-old Marydel man was flown to an area hospital where he was admitted in serious condition. Seated in the front passenger seat of the Honda was a 30-year-old Bridgeville man who sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
EMS transported the 31-year-old Salisbury woman to an area hospital where she was admitted for non-life-threatening injuries. Also in the GMC was a 59-year-old female, a 31-year-old female, a 6-year-old female, a 5-year-old female, and a 3-year-old male. All passengers were transported to an area hospital where they were treated for minor injuries and released.
The road was closed for approximately four hours for the crash investigation and cleanup.
Delaware State Police are investigating the shooting death of a 31-year-old Laurel man Sunday night in Seaford.
Seaford Police were called to reports of a shooting in the 1200 block of Norman Eskridge Highway just before 9:00 p.m. on February 20. When they arrived, a 31-year-old victim was found in the parking lot with a gunshot wound.
He was transported to a nearby hospital where he later died.
State police homicide detectives learned that the victim encountered a group of people at the McDonalds drive-thru located at 300 S Dual Hwy, where the victim allegedly got into an altercation that continued after exiting the drive-thru. The victim was shot and the individuals fled.

A former North Laurel Elementary School secretary has been indicted on a pair of felony theft charges.
Delaware State Police arrested 40-year-old Wade Bryan of Laurel, after he was accused of stealing from a 2021 summer and fall pizza fundraiser and Pre-K tuition.
According to the indictment, the school discovered checks for the fundraiser had not cleared parent’s bank accounts and Bryan did not make any deposits. In addition, the fundraising company was improperly given the district’s bank account information to pay for the fundraiser. School officials checked a school safe to discover all the cash was missing and checks were never deposited.
An internal audit led to Bryan as the person responsible for those deposits and accuse his of stealing $3,198.50 in cash from the fundraiser and $1,775 from the Pre-K tuition funds.
Bryan was indicted on February 14 on two counts of Felony Theft Over $1,500. He turned himself in to Delaware State Police and was released on his own recognizance.

A Millsboro man is behind bars and facing murder charges after police say an argument over a game of pool led to the shooting death of a Lewes man at a bar in Rehoboth.
According to the Delaware State Police Department, the incident occurred around 12:45 a.m., Sunday as troopers responded to reports of a shooting at the Coastal Taproom on John J. Williams Highway in Rehoboth.
Police arrived and located a 41-year-old Lewes man in the bar area suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to Beebe Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
An investigation was launched and police learned the victim and suspect were involved in an argument over a game of pool. During the altercation, police say the suspect pulled out a handgun and shot the victim in the chest.
Through investigative means the suspect, later identified as 46-year-old Edward Martin, of Millsboro, was found driving in the Long Neck area and a traffic stop was conducted. Martin was taken into custody without incident and a search of the vehicle led to the discovery of a the handgun.
Martin was charged with Murder 1st Degree, Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony, and Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon. He was arraigned and committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution on an $800,000 cash bond.
A Harrington woman was arrested on child abuse charges after police say she beat a 9-year-old with a belt, so badly that it left bruises.
According to the Harrington Police Department, on Monday, Feb. 14, officers arrested 50-year-old Ericka D. Maddox as the result of a child abuse investigation.
In January, the Harrington Police Department received reports of a possible child abuse at a home on Thorpe Street in Harrington.
During the course of the investigation, with the assistance of the Child Advocacy Center, officers learned that a 9-year-old child was allegedly hit with a belt on multiple occasions by Maddox. Police also determined that the victim sustained bruising after being hit with the belt.
A warrant was obtained for Maddox’s arrest. She later turned herself into the Harrington Police Department. She was processed and arraigned on charged of 3rd Degree Child Abuse and Endangering the Welfare of a Child. She was released on her own recognizance pending a future court appearance.
34-year-old Emmanuel Vargas-Lopez, of Lincoln, DE – Delaware State Police Dept.
A Lincoln man was arrested after police say they found a plethora of drugs in Frederica.
According to the Delaware State Police Department, around 2:16 p.m., Saturday troopers were dispatched to reports of suspicious activity in the 100 block of Holly Drive in High Point Mobile Home Park. The 911 caller was requesting police help remove a man from her property after he failed to leave after being instructed to do so multiple times.
When troopers arrived, police say they made contact with 34-year-old Emmanuel Vargas-Lopez who was still trespassing on the property.
As Lopez was taken into custody, police say he began resisting arrest and tried to head-butt the arresting officers. At the same time, he allegedly attempted to swallow a bag of heroin to destroy evidence.
Lopez was ultimately taken into custody and during a search the following items were located: 102 Oxycodone Hydrochloride pills, 6 Acetaminophen/Xanax pills, 3.46 grams of suspected counterfeit-controlled-substance heroin, 4.48 grams of suspected counterfeit-controlled-substance cocaine, and five crystal rocks suspected to be methamphetamine.
Before Lopez trespassed on Holly Drive, police say he used a firearm while driving past homes in the community and fired two rounds into the air. An examination of the crime scene was conducted, and spent shell casings were discovered in the roadway. In the same area, two individuals were standing outside in close proximity to where the shootings occurred.
Lopez’s vehicle was located parked in the area and two black handguns with extended magazines were observed in plain view, according to police.
Lopez was charged with Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony (Felony), Possession With Intent to Deliver a Controlled Substance (Felony), Possession of a Deadly Weapon by a Person Prohibited (Felony), Tampering With Physical Evidence (Felony) (Two Counts)- Reckless Endangering Second Degree, Resisting Arrest, Possession of a Controlled Substance, and Criminal Trespass Third Degree. He was arraigned and released after posting a $25,601 secured bond.
Randy Rangel, 26, of Greenwood, DE – Delaware State Police Dept.
A Greenwood man was arrested after police say he crashed into a patrol vehicle while driving drunk down Coastal Highway in Rehoboth.
According to the Delaware State Police Department, the incident occurred around 6:16 p.m., Wednesday troopers were dispatched to a reckless driving complaint on Coastal Highway in Rehoboth.
A white Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck was reportedly weaving all over the roadway before turning into the parking lot of the Fairfield Inn, according to police. The male driver then exited the pickup truck and began vomiting before getting back into the driver’s seat and again began traveling northbound on Coastal Highway.
A trooper responded to the area and located the Silverado. As troopers began to slow in an effort to get behind the suspect vehicle, the operator failed to signal as it crossed into the center lane and struck the rear left of the patrol vehicle with its front right side.
Troopers activated their emergency equipment in an effort to conduct a traffic stop, but the driver, later identified as 26-year-old Randy Rangel, of Greenwood, continued to travel northbound for several hundred more feet before coming to a controlled stop at the entrance to Bethany Blues restaurant.
As troopers approached the truck, Rangel was ordered out of the vehicle. Police say he displayed signs of driving under the influence of alcohol and a DUI investigation ensued. He was arrested at the scene and an inventory search of the vehicle was conducted.
Located in the Silverado were a Smith & Wesson M&P 9mm handgun and a magazine with 11 rounds of ammunition. A computer inquiry revealed that Rangel does not have a permit to carry a concealed deadly weapon lawfully.
Rangel was charged with Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon (Felony), Possession of a Firearm While Under the Influence, Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol, Reckless Driving, Failure to Have Insurance ID in Possession, Drive Motor Vehicle at Slow Speed Impeding Flow of Traffic, Driving Across a Median, Driver Must Wear Properly Adjusted and Fastened Seatbelt (Civil Violation), Failure to Remain Within a Single Lane, Failure to Signal, Inattentive Driving, and Parked or Stopped in the Direction of Traffic Flow (Civil Violation). He was arraigned in the Justice of the Peace Court, issued an $11,650 unsecured bond, and committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution on a $500 secured bond for an active capias out of Sussex County Court of Common Pleas.
Wyoming- Delaware State Police are conducting a homicide investigation that occurred early this morning in Wyoming.
On February 6, 2022, at approximately 3:01 a.m., troopers and officers from Wyoming Police Department and Camden Police Department responded to a residence located on South Caesar Rodney Avenue, Wyoming, DE in reference a shooting incident. Responding troopers and officers located a 37-year-old male, lying directly in front of the residence suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. The victim was transported by ambulance to an area hospital where he was pronounced deceased. Identification of the victim is pending notification to the next of kin.
The Delaware State Police Homicide Unit took over the investigation of the incident.
There is currently no suspect information available.

Laurel, DE- Delaware State Police arrested Tradon Mccants, 31, of Laurel, Sunday night for home invasion and related charges.
On January 30, 2022, at approximately 8:20 p.m., troopers were dispatched to the 30000 block of Discount Land Rd. for a home invasion in progress. Upon arrival, officers located the male suspect standing inside the residence’s front door. After multiple commands, the male, identified as Tradon Mccants, exited the home and was taken into custody. A search of Tradon’s person was conducted incident to arrested and a concealed folding knife and drug paraphernalia were located. The investigation determined two female residents were inside the home when they heard a knock on the front door. When they went to see who was there, they observed a male subject, later identified as Tradon Mccants, wearing a hoodie and holding a blanket standing outside. Tradon then ran and hit the wooden front door, causing glass on the door to shatter and open quickly, striking one of the females. The two residents ran to a window and climbed out to getaway. They then hid outside as they called 9-1-1 and waited for the police to arrive. When Tradon was in the home, he damaged property inside one of the bedrooms. The female residents were uninjured during the incident. Tradon sustained minor injuries that did not require medical attention. He was transported to Delaware State Police Troop 5 and charged with the following crimes:
Possession of a Deadly Weapon During the Commission of a Felony (Felony)
Burglary First Degree (Felony)
Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon (Felony)
Criminal Mischief Over $1,000
Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

Tradon was arraigned in the Justice of the Peace Court and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on a $62,200.00 secured bond.

Two suspects have been in arrested in connection with a double homicide in Georgetown where police say two men were shot at a local restaurant.
According to Delaware State Police, around 7:28 p.m., Saturday the Georgetown Police Department and troopers responded to El Nopalito Restaurant on DuPont Blvd for reports that two people had been shot at the business.
During the course of the investigation, police say they learned that Yony Morales-Garcia, 22, and Emner Morales-Garcia, 21, both of Georgetown, had been asked to leave the restaurant earlier in the night due to their disorderly behavior and having a dispute with other patrons.
Both suspects reportedly returned to the business, wearing masks, according to police. One of the suspects approached a 31-year-old Armando Vicente Chilel Lopez and removed a necklace from his neck.
Police say the Lopez then lunged at the suspect who stole the necklace, at which time the second suspect, pulled out a handgun from his waistband and shot the victim.
During the course of the suspects fleeing the restaurant, police say the second suspect fired a second round into the dining area which struck a 28-year-old man, later identified as Honorio Velasquez. He sustained a gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police.
Lopez was transported to an area hospital with a gunshot wound where he later died as a result of his injuries.
Through investigative measures, Delaware State Police and the Georgetown Police Department were able to identify Yony Morales-Garcia and Emner Morales-Garcia as the suspects. On Thursday, January 27, arrest warrants were obtained for the suspects with the charges of (2 counts) Murder First Degree (Felony) , Robbery First Degree (Felony), Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony (Felony), Wearing a Disguise During the Commission of a Felony (Felony), Carrying a Concealed Deafly Weapon (Felony), and Conspiracy 1st (Felony).
At approximately 5:30 p.m., a traffic stop was conducted and a search warrant was executed by the Delaware State Police at the 17000 block of Windward Blvd in Milford.
During the stop and the execution of the search warrant, both suspects were taken into custody without incident and transported to Delaware State Police Troop 7 where they were charged and arraigned. Both men were committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution in default of $2,120,000 cash bond.
At least one person has been hospitalized after a police chase led to a serious crash near Ellendale.
According to first responders with the Ellendale Fire Company, around 7:48 a.m., Sunday crews were called to respond to a motor vehicle crash with injuries on Route 113, just north of Beach Highway. Emergency personnel responded and found that a pickup truck had been involved in a police chase and struck the back of a work van while speeding in an attempt to evade police.
Crews worked to stabilize and secure the vehicles and treat patients on scene. One person was transported by an Ellendale ambulance to Bayhealth Medical Center, and two others were assessed and released on scene.

A 13-year-old girl has died following a serious crash near Millsboro.
According to the Delaware State Police Department, the crash occurred around 1:11 p.m., Monday as a 2006 Jeep Liberty, operated by a 17-year-old girl from Frankford, was traveling northbound on Hollyville Road, approaching the intersection at Harmony Cemetery Road. At the same time, a 2016 Freightliner flatbed truck was traveling southbound in the same vicinity. For unknown reasons, the driver of the Jeep lost control of the vehicle, crossed into the southbound lane, and began rotating in counterclockwise rotation, exposing the passenger side.
Police say the driver of the Freightliner, a 26-year-old Salisbury, Maryland man, applied the brakes in an attempt to avoid a collision, but the front of the truck struck the passenger side of the Jeep. After impact, the Jeep was forced off the west side of the road. The Freightliner was redirected off the west side of the road and struck a tree.
The driver of the Jeep was transported to Beebe hospital and treated for minor injuries. There was a 13-year-old girl in the front seat. She was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The road was closed for over three hours while the investigation was completed and the roadway was cleared.

A pair of Kent County men were arrested and charged with multiple drug-related felonies after police say they were found with heroin, crack cocaine, over 140 MDMA pills, and other drugs in Dover.
According to the Delaware State Police Department, on Tuesday, Jan. 11, a search warrant was executed at a residence in the 200 block of President Drive. As a result of the search, police say the following items belonging to 41-year-old Elijere Ingram, of Dover, were located inside: 330.15 grams of marijuana, 2.43 grams of heroin, 3.61 grams of crystal meth, drug paraphernalia, and approximately $711 in suspected drug proceeds.
When troopers initially responded to the home, Ingram, 44-year-old Donald Demby, of Magnolia, and a 40-year-old Magnolia man were located in the front yard.
Discovered on Demby’s person were 149 MDMA Pills, 13.89 grams of cocaine, 64.39 grams of marijuana, drug paraphernalia, and $482 in suspected drug proceeds, according to police.
Both Ingram and Demby were taken into custody without incident and transported to Delaware State Police Troop 3. The 40-year-old Magnolia man was not charged with any crimes.
Ingram was charged with Possession With Intent to Deliver a Controlled Substance Tier 2 Quantity (Felony), Two Counts- Possession With Intent to Deliver a Controlled Substance (Felony), Possession of a Controlled Substance Tier 2 Quantity (Felony), Possession of a Controlled Substance Tier 1 Quantity (Felony), Possession of a Controlled Substance, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. He was arraigned and committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution on $16,700 cash bond.
Demby was charged with Possession With Intent to Deliver a Controlled Substance Tier 3 Quantity (Felony), Possession of a Controlled Substance Tier 3 Quantity (Felony), Possession With Intent to Deliver a Controlled Substance Tier 2 Quantity (Felony), Possession of a Controlled Substance Tier 2 Quantity (Felony), Possession of a Controlled Substance, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. He was arraigned and committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution on $46,000 cash bond.
Delaware State Police are investigating after a home was shot up in Lincoln.
According to the Delaware State Police Department, the incident occurred around 1:55 a.m., Sunday when troopers were dispatched to the 19000 block of Bunting Avenue for reports that gunfire had struck a home.
Police arrived and learned that three adult residents were inside the home when an unknown suspect shot one round at the house.
A bullet entered the home through an exterior wall into a bedroom where one of the residents was sleeping and continued traveling through an interior wall, according to police. The round became lodged in a hallway ceiling.
None of the residents were injured during the incident.
The shooting remains under investigation and anyone with any information is urged to contact police.
Delaware State Police Homicide Unit arrested Marcus Bailey, 18, of Wilmington, for the homicide that took place Thursday afternoon in the Capitol Park community in Dover.
