St. Louis City SC has secured the services of defender Jaziel Orozco for the foreseeable future, announcing a contract extension Monday that will keep the young player with the club through the 2028-29 MLS season.
The agreement with the 22-year-old, who hails from Mexico, also carries an option that could extend his stay into the 2029-30 campaign.
Since joining St. Louis City in 2025, Orozco has made 17 appearances and found the back of the net once. Prior to his time with the club, he played in four matches with Real Salt Lake back in 2022.
Sporting director Corey Wray expressed enthusiasm about keeping Orozco on the roster long term. “Jazi has put in consistent performances this season and it is clear he has a good understanding of what is being asked of him tactically,” Wray said. “Over the last six months, he has shown qualities that we value with his tactical flexibility and versatility both in and out of possession. We are excited to keep him at the club for years to come and help him continue developing as a player.”
St. Louis City is set to resume action following the FIFA World Cup break, heading into Wednesday night’s road match against the Los Angeles Galaxy.
