Guardians-Reds Ohio Cup Opener Rained Out, Doubleheader Set for Tuesday

Baseball fans eager to watch the Ohio Cup rivalry between the Cleveland Guardians and Cincinnati Reds will have to wait one more day after rain washed out Monday night’s scheduled series opener in Cincinnati.

The postponed game has been rescheduled as part of a split doubleheader on Tuesday. The first game will get underway at 1:40 p.m. local time, while the nightcap remains at its original start time of 7:10 p.m.

The pitching matchups for Tuesday’s opener will remain the same as originally planned for Monday. Cleveland will send right-hander Slade Cecconi, who carries a 4-7 record and a 4.60 ERA, to the mound. He’ll face Cincinnati right-hander Chase Burns, who has been dominant this season with a 12-1 record and a 2.42 ERA.

For the second game of the doubleheader, the Guardians will turn to right-hander Gavin Williams, who stands at 10-5 with a 3.78 ERA. The Reds have not named a starter for that contest and plan to use their bullpen instead.

The series will conclude with a final game Wednesday night in Cincinnati.
