Federal Agency Seeks Approval to Update Horse Protection Data Collection

A federal agency that oversees animal and plant health is taking steps to update and continue a data collection effort connected to horse welfare regulations.

The Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service has announced its intention to seek a revision to — and an extension of — an existing approved information collection. The collection is tied to the agency’s Horse Protection Program and its enforcement of the Horse Protection Act.

The announcement was made in accordance with the Paperwork Reduction Act of 1995, which requires federal agencies to notify the public when they plan to collect, revise, or extend information-gathering activities.
