
Government figures released late Wednesday reveal that the Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo has claimed more than 1,000 lives, with the confirmed death toll now standing at 1,033.
The total number of confirmed cases across the country has climbed to 2,536, according to the latest data from Congo’s public health institute.
The agency’s most recent report indicated that 50 new Ebola cases were identified on Monday in the eastern provinces of Ituri and North Kivu, signaling that the outbreak continues to spread in those regions.
