The Oklahoma City Thunder have shipped 2025 All-Defensive wing Luguentz Dort off to the Atlanta Hawks in a three-team transaction that also loops in the Dallas Mavericks, ESPN reported Sunday.
As part of the deal, the Thunder receive three second-round draft picks, former No. 1 overall pick Zaccharie Risacher heads to Dallas, and guard Ryan Nembhard moves to Atlanta.
Although Dort had been a fixture in Oklahoma City’s starting lineup for several seasons, the trade wraps up a busy stretch of roster moves for the Thunder. Combined with earlier trades involving Isaiah Joe and Aaron Wiggins, Oklahoma City has now collected seven second-round picks while getting their payroll below the second apron threshold.
The Thunder exercised Dort’s $17.7 million team option, brought in three future draft assets, and created a $17 million trade exception in the process. The move also opens the door for Dort to ink a long-term contract in Atlanta — something that simply wasn’t financially workable in Oklahoma City.
At 27 years old, Dort joins a young and promising Hawks roster that features Dyson Daniels and Nickeil Alexander-Walker. Atlanta won more playoff games against NBA champion New York Knicks than any other team this past postseason. The Hawks also freed up more than $40 million in cap space heading into next summer.
Dort earned a spot on the NBA’s All-Defensive team in 2025 and finished fourth in Defensive Player of the Year voting. Over 69 games last season, he put up 8.3 points and 3.6 rebounds per game. Across seven seasons with Oklahoma City, he averaged 11.6 points and 3.8 rebounds.
Risacher, 21 and in just his second NBA season, averaged 9.6 points and 3.8 rebounds across 67 games. He saw limited action in the playoffs, logging only 23 minutes. The forward finished runner-up to the Spurs’ Stephon Castle in the 2025 Rookie of the Year race.
Nembhard, 23, appeared in 60 games for the Mavericks as an undrafted rookie guard last season. He made 19 starts and averaged 6.6 points, 5.3 assists, and 2.2 rebounds per game before being moved to Atlanta in this deal.
