  • State Police Arrest Georgetown Woman for Weapon Offenses Following Road Rage Incident

    Delaware State Police arrested 20-year-old Melleca Butler of Georgetown, Delaware, for multiple weapon-related felonies following a road rage incident in Georgetown yesterday morning.

    On October 10, 2025, at approximately 11:30 a.m., troopers responded to the area of Dupont Boulevard and Shortly Road for a report of a road rage incident involving a firearm. The investigation revealed that a GMC Yukon with Delaware registration pulled alongside the victim, a 49-year-old man from Houston, Delaware, while both vehicles were traveling southbound on Dupont Boulevard. Some type of road rage incident occurred, during which the driver of the Yukon displayed a handgun before continuing southbound. The suspect was described as black and wearing a blue hoodie and glasses.

    Troopers, assisted by officers from the Millsboro Police Department, patrolled the area and located the suspect vehicle near the intersection of Laurel Road and Dupont Boulevard in Millsboro. A traffic stop was conducted, and the driver, who matched the description provided, was identified as Melleca Butler. She was taken into custody without incident.

    A consent search of the vehicle revealed an unloaded handgun concealed between the driver’s seat and the center console. A computer inquiry revealed that Butler does not have a permit to carry a concealed deadly weapon.

    Butler was transported to Troop 4, where she was charged with the following crimes:

    • Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony (Felony)
    • Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon (Felony)
    • Aggravated Menacing (Felony)

    She was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2 and committed to Baylor Women’s Correctional Institution on a $23,500 cash bond.

  • State Police Arrest Dover Man Following Road Rage Shooting

    Delaware State Police arrested 33-year-old Joseph Novak of Dover following a road rage incident on Korean War Veterans Memorial Highway on Tuesday morning.

    On September 23, 2025, at approximately 6:30 a.m., troopers responded to Route 1 northbound, just south of South Dupont Highway, for a reported shooting. The investigation revealed that a 64-year-old Delaware man was driving a GMC Yukon Denali northbound near the Roth Bridge when a Chevrolet Silverado, driven by Novak, began following too closely.

    According to statements obtained during the investigation, both vehicles were allegedly involved in aggressive driving as they continued northbound. The vehicles ultimately collided, causing damage to the right rear side of the Denali and the front left side of the Silverado. During the encounter, Novak is alleged to have fired a handgun at the Denali. Troopers observed defects on the Denali that appeared consistent with damage caused by gunfire. No injuries were reported.

    Novak was taken into custody without incident. A search of his vehicle revealed a legally owned handgun. He was then taken to Troop 2, where he was charged with the offenses listed below, arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2, and released on a $2200 secured bond.

    • Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony (Felony)
    • Reckless Endangering First Degree (Felony)

  • State Police Arrest Pennsylvania Man in Road Rage Incident

    Delaware State Police arrested 30-year-old Robert George, of Wallingford, Pennsylvania, following a road rage incident that occurred on Monday evening in Wilmington.

    On September 15, 2025, at approximately 6:00 p.m., troopers were contacted by a 45-year-old Wilmington man who reported a road rage encounter on Concord Pike in the area of Concord Mall.

    A preliminary investigation revealed that the victim was traveling southbound in the left lane of Concord Pike when a Chevrolet Colorado, driven by George, accelerated and abruptly changed into the same lane, cutting off the victim’s vehicle. Both vehicles continued toward the intersection of Concord Pike and Rocky Run Boulevard, where George entered the left-turn lane to access Widener University Delaware Law School.

    The victim pulled alongside George’s vehicle, and a verbal exchange took place between the two. During the encounter, George displayed a firearm, prompting the victim to contact the police. After the light turned green, George turned into the university’s parking lot.

    Troopers responded to the scene and located the suspect’s vehicle, which was unoccupied. A short time later, George was observed exiting a building on campus and returning to his vehicle. Troopers conducted a traffic stop, during which George was detained without incident. A search of the vehicle led to the discovery of a handgun and a valid concealed carry permit. The victim later positively identified George in a photo lineup.

    George was taken to Troop 1, where he was charged with the offenses listed below, arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 11, and committed to Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on a $25,000 secured bond.

  • State Police Arrest Dagsboro Man for Aggravated Menacing Following a Road Rage Incident in Milton

    Delaware State Police arrested 38-year-old Joshua Vickers of Dagsboro, Delaware for aggravated menacing and felony gun charges following a road rage incident that occurred on Coastal Highway in Milton yesterday.

    On August 21, 2025, at approximately 5:57 p.m., troopers responded to Eagle Crest Road near Coastal Highway in Milton for a report of a road rage incident involving a firearm. When troopers arrived, they learned that the victim was involved in a road rage incident on Coastal Highway northbound, near Eagle Crest Road, with a white Honda Pilot. During the incident, the driver of the Honda, later identified as Joshua Vickers, yelled and allegedly pointed a firearm at the victim. A short time later, troopers located the Honda and Vickers at Hudson Fields on Eagle Crest Road. He was detained without incident. During a search of the Honda, troopers found a 9mm handgun in the glove compartment, a 12-gauge shotgun, and 2 .22 caliber rifles.


    Vickers was arrested and taken to Troop 7, where he was charged with the crimes listed below, arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2, and released on a $30,100 unsecured bond.

  • State Police Arrest Man for Aggravated Menacing Following a Road Rage Incident in Dover

    Delaware State Police arrested 44-year-old Donald Renfer of Chittenango, New York, for aggravated menacing following a road rage incident that occurred on Route 1 in Dover yesterday afternoon.

    On April 18, 2025, at approximately 3:49 p.m., troopers responded to the Wawa, located at 500 Jimmy Drive, Smyrna, for a report of a road rage incident involving a firearm. In the ensuing investigation, troopers learned that the victim was involved in a road rage incident on Route 1 northbound, just north of the Dover Toll Plaza, with a white GMC pickup truck. During the incident, the suspect allegedly displayed a firearm, and threw a bottle at the victim’s vehicle, which was occupied by the 48-year-old victim and her 2 grandchildren. The GMC then continued northbound on Route 1. Shortly after the incident, the victim arrived at the Wawa in Smyrna, and observed the GMC truck at the gas pumps. Upon arriving at the Wawa, troopers made contact with the GMC’s operator, identified as Donald Renfer, and took him into custody without incident. A search of the GMC led to the discovery of a loaded black handgun, and additional magazines in the vehicle. Troopers further learned 2 children were in the GMC during the incident.

    Renfer was taken to Troop 3, where he was charged with the crimes listed below, arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 7, and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on a $24,750 secured bond.

    • Aggravated Menacing (Felony) – 3 counts
    • Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony (Felony)
    • Endangering the Welfare of a Child – 2 counts
    • Littering
    • Failure when Moving Right, Left, or Turning to Signal Continuously

  • State Police Investigating Road Rage Related Assault in New Castle

    The Delaware State Police are investigating an assault stemming from a road rage incident that occurred last week on North Dupont Highway in New Castle.

    On March 11, 2025, at approximately 3:31 p.m., troopers responded to North Dupont Highway in the area of Market Place for a report of a road rage related assault. The preliminary investigation revealed a Subaru Forester was involved in an alleged road rage incident with a dark-colored pickup truck on N. Dupont Highway. After the Subaru came to a stop behind the pickup truck in the left turn lane of N. Dupont Highway, the operator of the pickup truck exited his vehicle, armed himself with an unknown metal tool, and approached the Subaru. The suspect yelled at the victim, and struck the Subaru’s front driver side window with the tool, which shattered the front driver window, and struck the victim’s face. The suspect then ran back to his vehicle, and fled northbound on N. Dupont Highway.

    The victim, a 59-year-old man from New Castle, Delaware, was evaluated at the scene by EMS.

    The suspect is described as an older white male. There is no additional suspect or suspect vehicle information available at this time.

  • Detectives Investigating Road Rage Shooting on Route 1 in Smyrna

    The Delaware State Police are investigating a shooting stemming from a road rage incident that occurred Friday night on Route 1 in Smyrna.

    On March 14, 2025, at approximately 8:43 p.m., troopers responded to Route 1 southbound, in the area of Exit 119, for a report of a road rage shooting. The preliminary investigation revealed a black Infiniti sedan was involved in a road rage incident with a black pickup truck while driving on Route 1 southbound. During the incident, the suspect vehicle collided with the rear of the victim’s vehicle. The suspect vehicle then drove parallel to the victim’s vehicle, and an unknown suspect discharged a firearm, which struck the victim’s vehicle. The Infiniti’s driver, a 27-year-old Delaware man, and 2 passengers were not injured. Following the shooting, the suspect vehicle did not stop, and continued southbound on Route 1.

    There is no additional suspect or suspect vehicle information available at this time.

  • Georgetown man arrested in road rage incident

    Georgetown man arrested in road rage incident

    A Georgetown man was arrested after police say he pulled a shotgun on another driver during a road rage incident.

    According to Delaware State Police, the incident occurred just after 7 p.m., Friday when troopers responded to the intersection of Piglet Path and Seashore Highway in Georgetown for reports of a road rage incident involving a weapon.

    Police arrived and learned that a 60-year-old male victim was stopped at the intersection when a tan 2005 Chrysler Sebring turned northbound on Piglet Path directly in front of the victim’s vehicle.

    Police say the suspect, later identified as 37-year-old Carlton Breasure, stopped his vehicle, got out and started arguing with the victim.

    During the argument, Breasure allegedly threatened the victim and pulled out a shotgun, at which time the victim fled the scene and called 911.

    Troopers located Carlton at the intersection and took him into custody without incident.

    A 12-gauge shotgun was located inside Breasure’s vehicle.

    The victim was not injured.

    Breasure was arrested on a slew of charges and later committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution on $239,600 cash bond.
