    Greenwood man accused of pointing gun at kids

    A Greenwood man was arrested after police say he pointed a rifle at a group of kids in Harrington.

    According to the Harrington Police Department, on Wednesday officers arrested 20-year-old Justin Williams on numerous weapons and aggravated menacing charges.

    Around 6:30 p.m., officers were notified of an incident where a male suspect reportedly drove near where four juvenile victims were riding bicycles on West Mispillion Street.

    As the vehicle approached the children, police say a male, later identified Williams, pointed a black rifle at the them.

    The juveniles fled the scene and reported the incident to a parent who in turn called 911.

    While officers were gathering information from two of the victims and a parent, they were notified of a witness who had attained a tag number from the suspect’s vehicle.

    Officers were able to identify Williams as the suspect through the information provided by the witness.

    Police made contact with Williams at his home in Greenwood where he was taken into custody without incident.

    While on the scene, officers secured a black .22 caliber rifle.

    Williams was transported to the Harrington Police Department on a slew of charges and was later committed to the Sussex Correctional Institute in lieu of $50,000 cash bond.

    Harrington man arrested on kidnapping charges

    Antonio Boyer, 23, of Harrington, DE – Harrington Police Dept.

    A Harrington man has been arrested on kidnapping charges.

    According to the Harrington Police Department, on Monday, officers were dispatched to a business in the 16000 block of S. DuPont Highway for reports of a domestic disturbance.

    Responding officers were advised by witnesses and also were able to observe on security cameras in the store that a male suspect entered the store and engaged in a verbal altercation with the victim, according to police.

    The victim then fled to the office of the business where the male suspect followed her, grabbed her by the arm, and began pulling her toward the exit. As the victim struggled to get away, police say the suspect picked her up and carried her from the store and threw her into a vehicle.

    The vehicle then fled the scene in an unknown direction.

    Through investigative measures, officers were able to identify Antonio Boyer, 23, of Harrington, as the suspect.

    Police responded to the last known address for Boyer and located the vehicle. He was taken into custody without incident and the victim was located in good condition.

    Boyer was charged with Kidnapping Second Degree (C Felony), Unlawful Imprisonment Second Degree (A Misdemeanor), Offensive Touching (Misdemeanor), Criminal Trespass Third Degree (Violation), and Disorderly Conduct (Misdemeanor). He was committed to the Sussex Correctional Institute in lieu of $7001 secured bond.

  • Fire destroys home in Farmington

    Fire destroys home in Farmington

    Harrington and Farmington Fire crews responded to a fire just after midnight on Wednesday morning.

     

    The fire occurred in the 23000 block of South DuPont Highway. When crews arrived, the home was engulfed in flames with dark smoke billowing from the roof of the home.

     

    It took crews several minutes to aggressively put out the fire. No injuries were reported. A cause to the fire has not been released at this time.

    Harrington man arrested on drug charges after police find over 6 lbs of marijuana, ecstacy during traffic stop

    42-year-old Ronnell T. Vickers, of Harrington, DE – Harrington Police Dept.

    A Harrington man was arrested on felony drug charges after police say he was found in possession of more than six pounds of marijuana and other drugs during a traffic stop.

    According to the Harrington Police Department, on Thursday, March 10, officers arrested 42-year-old Ronnell T. Vickers on several drug and weapons charges.

    Officers on patrol came into contact with Vickers after discovering the vehicle he was operating had an invalid registration. After contact was made with Vickers, officers noticed a strong odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle.

    A probable cause search was initiated and police found several packages of marijuana total weight approximately 2,858.2 grams (6.3 pounds), 12.4 grams of ecstasy, a loaded 9mm handgun, two digital scales, and various forms of drug paraphernalia.

    Vickers was taken into custody without incident and transported to Harrington Police Department where he was charged with the following: Manufacture/Deliver/PWID Controlled Substance Tier 2 quantity (C Felony), Manufacture/Deliver/PWID Controlled Substance (D Felony), Possession of a Controlled Substance Tier 2 quantity (F Felony), Possession of a Controlled Substance Tier 1 quantity (G Felony), Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (violation), Possession of a Firearm during the commission of a felony (B Felony), Carrying a concealed deadly weapon/Firearm (D Felony), and two registration violations.

    Vickers was presented via video phone at Justice of the Peace Court 2 and was committed to Sussex Correctional Institute in lieu of $31,000 cash bond.

    Harrington men arrested on theft charges

    A Harrington duo were arrested on theft charges after police say they illegally transferred money out of other people’s bank accounts to multiple online finance applications.

    According to the Harrington Police Department, on Friday, March 4, officers arrested 39-year-old Frederick A. Spiezio and 25-year-old Brian M. Pogats, both of Harrington, on numerous theft and attempted theft charges.

    At the end of February, police say officers were contacted by the victims who reported several unauthorized transactions from their bank account after they discovered their funds were being illicitly and electronically transferred to multiple online finance applications.

    During the course of the investigation, officers were able to link the online accounts to both Mr. Spiezio and Mr. Pogats. Both were taken into custody without incident.

    Spiezio was charged with 3 counts Theft Under $1500 where victim is 62 years of age or older (G Felony), 3 counts Attempted Theft Under $1500 victim is 62 years of age or older (G Felony), Conspiracy 2nd Degree (G Felony), 2 counts Theft Under $1500, (A misdemeanor), and 3 Counts Attempted Theft Under $1500 (A misdemeanor).

    Pogats was charged with 3 counts Attempted Theft Under $1500 victim is 62 years of age or older (G Felony), 2 counts Theft Under $1500 where victim is 62 years of age or older (G Felony), Conspiracy 2nd Degree (G Felony), 3 Counts Attempted Theft Under $1500 (A misdemeanor), and Theft Under $1500, (A misdemeanor).

    Both were released on their Own Recognizance Bond pending future court appearances.

    Harrington woman arrested on child abuse charges for beating 9-year-old with a belt

    A Harrington woman was arrested on child abuse charges after police say she beat a 9-year-old with a belt, so badly that it left bruises.

    According to the Harrington Police Department, on Monday, Feb. 14, officers arrested 50-year-old Ericka D. Maddox as the result of a child abuse investigation.

    In January, the Harrington Police Department received reports of a possible child abuse at a home on Thorpe Street in Harrington.

    During the course of the investigation, with the assistance of the Child Advocacy Center, officers learned that a 9-year-old child was allegedly hit with a belt on multiple occasions by Maddox. Police also determined that the victim sustained bruising after being hit with the belt.

    A warrant was obtained for Maddox’s arrest. She later turned herself into the Harrington Police Department. She was processed and arraigned on charged of 3rd Degree Child Abuse and Endangering the Welfare of a Child. She was released on her own recognizance pending a future court appearance.

    Police search for suspect who stole over $2,000 worth of cologne & perfume from Walgreens in Harrington

    Police are searching for the suspect who allegedly stole over $2,000 worth of cologne and perfume from the Walgreens in Harrington.

    According to the Harrington Police Department, the incident occurred Friday, December 3 at the Walgreens on South DuPont Highway.

    Police say the unknown suspect entered the store and pried open a glass display case, removing over $2,000 worth of cologne and perfume.

    The suspect then reportedly fled the scene.

    Police are searching for the identity of the suspect and have released several surviellance photos.

  • Harrington Police continue investigation into shooting

    Harrington Police continue investigation into shooting

    Harrington Police are continuing their investigation into a shooting that injured a person at a local apartment complex.

    According to the Harrington Police Department, the investigation began around 10:30 p.m., Monday when officers were called to Clark’s Corner Apartments for reports of a shooting.

    When police arrived they located a person suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim suffered non-life threatening injuries and is expected to be ok.

    Police say the incident was isolated and that there is no current danger to the public. As their investigation continues, police have now released several surveillance photos that show a white vehicle fleeing the scene.

    Three suspects are believed to be involved and are wanted in the case, according to police.

    Harrington man charged with theft

    21-year-old Terrence Anglin, of Harrington, DE – Harrington Police

    A Harrington man has been arrested on theft charges after police say he broke into several vehicles.

    According to the Harrington Police Department, officers were called to the area of Commerce Street and Simpson Street for reports of thefts from vehicles.

    During the course of the investigation, police determined that an unknown suspect broke into the cars and stole wallets, debit cards, and cash.

    One of the victim’s debit cards was used at the Royal Farms on Milford-Harrington Hwy.

    Police were able to review surveillance cameras and get a description of the suspect. Through investigative measures, officers were able to track down the suspect to the Super 8 Motel.

    Police located the suspect, identified as 21-year-old Terrence Anglin, and he was taken into custody without incident.

    The stolen property was located in Anglin’s room.

    Anglin was arraigned and released on his own recognizance.

    Harrington Police charge New Castle woman with 3rd DUI

    52-year-old Catherine Dorczuk, of New Castle, DE – Harrington PD

    A New Castle woman was arrested for her third DUI offense in Harrington.

    According to the Harrington Police Department, shortly before 11 p.m., Tuesday officers patrolling South DuPont Highway stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation.

    Officers then made contact with the driver, identified as 52-year-old Catherine Dorczuk, at which time an odor of alcohol was smelled coming from the vehicle along with alcohol bottles that were in plain view inside the car.

    Police administered a standardized field sobriety test and Dorczuk was taken into custody.

    A vehicle search was conducted and police located drug paraphernalia inside the vehicle.

    Dorczuk was transported to the Harrington Police Department for processing. A computer check revealed she had two previous DUI convictions dating back to 1995. She was arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court 7 and was charged with 3rd Offense Driving under the Influence of Alcohol (Felony), Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Speeding. She was then committed to the Sussex Correctional Institute in default of $3,501 cash only bond.

  • Harrington woman killed in crash on Route 13

    Harrington woman killed in crash on Route 13

    A serious crash claimed the life of a Harrington woman Monday afternoon after her car went off the road and struck a pole on Route 13.

    According to Delaware State Police, the crash occurred around 1:30 p.m. as a 47-year-old Harrington woman was operating a 2009 Dodge Charger headed southbound on Route 13 near Paradise Alley Road.

    Police say she veered off the west edge of the roadway, tried to regain control of the car and then turned back into the right lane. It was at that time that the vehicle started to travel in a clockwise direction and travelled off the road and struck a Verizon utility pole.

    The impact of the crash caused the car to overturn on its roof before coming to rest in a private driveway.

    The driver was not wearing a seatbelt and was pronounced dead at the scene. Identification is pending notification to next of kin.

    The road was closed for over two hours as the accident was investigated and later cleared.
