    Delaware State Police have identified 78-year-old Cheryl Hiett of Seaford, Delaware, as the woman who died in a fatal pedestrian hit-and-run crash that occurred Sunday night in Bethel. Troopers are seeking the public’s assistance with their ongoing investigation for any additional information pertaining to this crash that may lead to identifying the suspect.

    Through investigative means, detectives have identified a possible suspect vehicle in the crash as an unknown color 2010-2013 Buick Lacrosse (pictured below) with damage to the passenger’s side front and windshield.

  • State Police Investigating Fatal Motorcycle Crash in Magnolia

    Delaware State Police are investigating a fatal motorcycle crash that occurred last night in Magnolia.

    On June 16, 2025, at approximately 8:00 p.m., a Kawasaki sportbike was traveling northbound on Walnut Shade Road approaching Douglas Fir Road, which is not a four-way stop. At the same time, a Toyota Camry that had been stopped at the stop sign on Douglas Fir Road began turning southbound onto Walnut Shade Road, and the Kawasaki hit the front of the Toyota.

    The motorcyclist, a 46-year-old man from Felton, was ejected from the bike and pronounced dead at the scene. His name is being withheld until his family has been notified. The driver of the Toyota, a 30-year-old man from Felton, was not injured.

    The road was closed for approximately four hours while the Delaware State Police Troop 3 Collision Reconstruction Unit investigated the crash and cleared the roadway.

    The investigation is ongoing. Anyone who witnessed the crash or has relevant information is asked to contact Sergeant J. Wilson at (302) 698-8518.   • State Police Investigating Fatal Motorcycle Crash in Magnolia

    Delaware State Police are investigating a fatal motorcycle crash that occurred last night in Magnolia.

    On June 16, 2025, at approximately 8:00 p.m., a Kawasaki sportbike was traveling northbound on Walnut Shade Road approaching Douglas Fir Road, which is not a four-way stop.   • State Police Investigating Fatal Pedestrian Hit and Run Crash in Bethel

    Delaware State Police are investigating a fatal pedestrian hit-and-run crash that occurred last night in Bethel that left one woman dead.

    On June 16, 2025, at approximately 6:15 a.m., troopers responded to the 8000 block of Bethel Road where they found a woman dead along the side of the road. The preliminary investigation revealed that on June 15, 2025, at approximately 8:51 p.m., an unknown vehicle was traveling eastbound on Bethel Road west of O’Neal’s Road. At the same time, a pedestrian entered the eastbound lane of Bethel Road from the north side of the road, into the vehicle’s path of travel. As a result, the vehicle hit the pedestrian and fled the scene eastbound on Bethel Road.

    The victim, a 78-year-old woman from Seaford, Delaware, was pronounced dead at the scene. Her name is being withheld until her family has been notified.

    The roadway was closed for approximately 5 hours while the scene was investigated and cleared.

  • State Police Investigating Fatal Pedestrian Crash in Dover

    The Delaware State Police are investigating a fatal pedestrian crash that occurred early this morning in Dover that left one man dead.

    On June 10, 2025, at approximately 2:21 a.m., a Jeep Cherokee was traveling northbound, in the right lane, on Korean War Veterans Memorial Highway (State Route 1) approaching White Oak Road. At the same time, a pedestrian wearing dark, non-reflective clothing, and not carrying a light, was in the Jeep’s path of travel on Korean War Veterans Memorial Highway.  Subsequently, the pedestrian was struck by the Jeep in the right northbound lane of the highway.

    The pedestrian, a 39-year-old man from Dover, Delaware, was pronounced dead at the scene. His name is being withheld until his family is notified.

    The driver of the Jeep, a 63-year-old man from Berlin, Maryland, was not injured.

    The roadway was closed for approximately 3 1/2 hours while the scene was investigated and cleared.

    Delaware State Police are investigating a fatal two-vehicle crash that occurred yesterday in Milton that left one woman dead.

    On June 6, 2025, at approximately 4:32 p.m., a Ford Bronco was traveling northbound on Mulberry Street approaching Milton-Ellendale Highway. At the same time, a fully marked Sussex County EMS Chevrolet Suburban, that was responding to an emergency call with its emergency equipment activated, was traveling westbound on Milton-Ellendale Highway approaching Mulberry Street. The preliminary investigation revealed the Bronco proceeded past the posted stop sign at Mulberry Street and into the path of the responding EMS Suburban. As a result, the front of the Suburban hit the passenger’s side of the Bronco. After the collision the Bronco rotated clockwise and struck a tree.

    The driver of the Bronco, a 74-year-old woman from Ellendale, Delaware, was taken to an area hospital where she later died. Her name is being withheld until her family is notified.

    The driver of the Suburban, a 38-year-old female Sussex County Paramedic, was taken to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

    The roadway was closed for approximately 3 hours while the scene was investigated and cleared.

  • State Police Investigating Fatal Motorcycle Crash in Cheswold

    The Delaware State Police are investigating a fatal motorcycle crash that occurred last night in Cheswold that left one man dead.

    On May 30, 2025, at approximately 7:47 p.m., a Suzuki ZR9 motorcycle was traveling southbound on North Dupont Highway, in the left lane, approaching Rose Bowl Road. At the same time, a Toyota Sienna was traveling eastbound on Rose Bowl Road, stopped at the stop sign at North Dupont Highway. The preliminary investigation revealed the Sienna proceeded to cross the southbound lanes of North Dupont Highway and entered the motorcycle’s path of travel. As a result, the motorcycle hit the driver’s side of the Sienna, ejecting the driver.

    The motorcyclist, a 22-year-old man from Dover, Delaware, was taken to an area hospital where he later died. His name is being withheld until his family is notified.

    The driver of the Toyota, a 74-year-old man from Smyrna, Delaware, sustained a minor injury and refused transport to the hospital.

    The roadway was closed for an extended period while the scene was investigated and cleared.

  • State Police Investigating Fatal Motorcycle Crash in Millsboro

    The Delaware State Police are investigating a fatal motorcycle crash that occurred early this morning in Millsboro that left one man dead.

    On May 25, 2025, at approximately 2:30 a.m., a 2006 Toyota Sienna was traveling southbound on Millsboro Highway, just north of East Line Road. At the same time, a 2010 Victory motorcycle was traveling northbound on Millsboro Highway, in the same area. For reasons under investigation, the Toyota failed to maintain its lane as it navigated a curve in the roadway, and entered the motorcycle’s path of travel in the northbound lane of Millsboro Highway. As a result, the Toyota struck the motorcycle, causing the motorcyclist to be ejected.

    The motorcyclist, a 58-year-old man from Millsboro, Delaware, was pronounced dead at the scene. His name is being withheld until his family and relatives are notified.

    The driver of the Toyota, a 48-year-old man from Salisbury, Maryland, was not injured. Two of the Toyota’s passengers were taken to an area hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. A third passenger was not injured.

    The roadway was closed for approximately 3.5 hours while the scene was investigated and cleared.

  • State Police Investigating Fatal Two-Vehicle Crash in Millsboro

    Delaware State Police are investigating a fatal two-vehicle crash that occurred yesterday in Millsboro that left one man dead.

    On May 20, 2025, at approximately 5:16 p.m., a Lincoln MKZ was traveling westbound on Hollyville Road near Harmon’s Hill Road. At the same time, a Cadillac Escalade was traveling eastbound on Hollyville Road near Harmon’s Hill Road. For reasons still under investigation, the Lincoln entered the eastbound lane of travel into the path of the Cadillac. In an attempt to avoid the collision, the Cadillac swerved to the right shoulder where the front of the Lincoln struck the front of the Cadillac.

    The unrestrained driver of the Lincoln, a 19-year-old man from Dagsboro, Delaware, was taken to an area hospital where he died. His name is being withheld until his family is notified.

    The driver of the Cadillac, a 52-year-old woman from Dagsboro, Delaware was taken to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. A passenger, a 56-year-old woman from Millsboro, Delaware, was also taken to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

    The roadway was closed for an extended time while the scene was investigated and cleared.

  • State Police Investigating Fatal Crash In Greenwood

    Delaware State Police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred yesterday afternoon in Greenwood that left one man dead.

    On May 16, 2025, at approximately 4:59 p.m., a black Toyota Prius was traveling southbound on Staytonville Road approaching the intersection of Shawnee Road in Greenwood. At the same time, a blue Nissan Sentra was traveling westbound on Shawnee Road approaching Staytonville Road. For reasons under investigation, the Toyota failed to remain stopped at the stop sign and entered the path of the Nissan. As a result, the Nissan struck the driver side of the Toyota.

    The driver of the Toyota, a 77-year-old man from East Fallowfield, Pennsylvania, was taken to an area hospital where he later died. His name is being withheld until his family is notified.

    The 37-year-old male driver of the Nissan, a 26-year-old female passenger, and a 5-year-old male passenger, all from Bear, Delaware, were taken to an area hospital for minor injuries.

    The roadway was closed for approximately three hours while the scene was investigated and cleared.

  • State Police Investigating Fatal Crash Near Angola

    Delaware State Police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred this morning near Angola that left one man dead.

    On May 16, 2025, at approximately 5:52 a.m., a Nissan Sentra was traveling southbound on Hollymount Road north of John J. Williams Highway. At the same time, two commercial flatbed trailers were parked northbound, partially in the northbound shoulder and partially in the grass. There were orange reflective traffic cones positioned alongside the trailers. For reasons under investigation, the Sentra left the southbound lane of travel and entered the northbound shoulder, where it struck one of the trailers. The impact from the collision pushed the first trailer into the second trailer.

    The driver, a 48-year-old man from Millsboro, Delaware, was pronounced dead at the scene. His name is being withheld until his family is notified.

    Hollymount Road was closed for approximately 3.5 hours while the scene was investigated and cleared.

  • Troop 2 Collision Reconstruction Unit Investigating Fatal Two-Vehicle Crash in Newark

    The Delaware State Police continues to investigate a Newark area crash that occurred Saturday afternoon after 91-year-old William Blevins of Newark, Delaware, died from injuries sustained in the crash.

    On May 10, 2025, at approximately 4:31 p.m., a gray 2013 RAM 150 was traveling southbound on Sunset Lake Road, north of Broadleaf Drive in Newark. The preliminary investigation indicates that at the same time, a brown 2017 Honda Accord was possibly traveling southbound on Sunset Lake Road, in front of the RAM. For reasons under investigation, the Honda allegedly attempted to make a wide U-turn towards the northbound lane of Sunset Lake Road. As a result, the Honda entered the RAM”s path of travel as it was making the left turn, and the 2 vehicles collided.

    The driver of the Honda, identified as William Blevins, was taken to an area hospital for serious injuries. On May 12, 2025, Blevins died from injuries sustained in the crash. His family and relatives were notified.

    The driver of the RAM, a 60-year-old man from Bear, Delaware, was not injured.

    On May 3, 2025, at approximately 11:08 p.m., a Suzuki GSX-R600 was traveling southbound on Central Avenue south of Substation Road. For reasons still under investigation, as the motorcycle negotiated a curve, it exited the west edge of the roadway and collided with a mailbox. As a result of the collision, the driver was ejected.

    The driver, a 35-year-old man from Ocean View, Delaware, was taken to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries. On May 12, 2025, he died as a result of his injuries from the crash. His name is being withheld until his family is notified.

    The Delaware State Police continues to investigate a Greenville area crash that occurred Saturday afternoon after 77-year-old Linda Mahoney of Cochranville, Pennsylvania, died from injuries sustained in the crash.

    On May 10, 2025, at approximately 4:33 p.m., a 2025 gray Hyundai Kona was traveling in the northbound lane of Kennett Pike, south of Stone Brook Drive in Greenville. At the same time, a 2018 gray Hyundai Kona was traveling in the southbound lane of Kennett Pike, north of Stone Brook Drive. For reasons under investigation, the 2018 Hyundai Kona drifted into the northbound lane of Kennett Pike, and into the 2025 Hyundai Kona’s path of travel, resulting in a head-on collision.

    The passenger of the 2025 Hyundai Kona, identified as Linda Mahoney, was transported to an area hospital for life-threatening injuries. The driver, an 80-year-old man from Cochranville, Pennsylvania, was taken to an area hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. On May 12, 2025, Mahoney died from injuries sustained in the crash. Her family and relatives were notified.

    The driver of the 2018 Hyundai Kona, a 20-year-old man from Kennett Square, Pennsylvania, and the 21-year-old male passenger were taken to an area hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

    The Delaware State Police are investigating a fatal pedestrian crash that occurred yesterday afternoon in Newark that left one man dead.

    On April 28, 2025, at approximately 2:51 p.m., a 2015 Nissan Altima was traveling northbound on Salem Church Road, south of Chapman Road in Newark. At the same time, a pedestrian was in the right shoulder of the northbound lane of Salem Church Road, in the same area as the Nissan. For reasons under investigation, the Nissan veered off the right side of the roadway, and struck the pedestrian. The Nissan then continued in a northeast direction through a grassy area, where it struck a tree and rolled over before coming to a stop.

    The pedestrian, a 48-year-old man from Newark, Delaware, was pronounced dead at the scene. His name is being withheld until his family and relatives are notified.

    The driver of the Nissan, an 18-year-old man from Bear, Delaware, was taken to an area hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

    On April 25, 2025, at approximately 11:24 p.m., a 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee was traveling in the left westbound lane of Kirkwood Highway, approaching the intersection with North Woodward Avenue. For unknown reasons, a pedestrian entered the Jeep’s path of travel from the north edge of the roadway, and was struck by the SUV.

    The pedestrian, a 43-year-old man from Wilmington, Delaware, was pronounced dead at the scene. His name is being withheld until his family and relatives are notified.

    The driver of the Jeep, a 31-year-old man from Wilmington, Delaware, was not injured.

  • State Police Investigating Fatal Crash in Clayton

    Delaware State Police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred Tuesday afternoon in Clayton.

    On April 22, 2025, at approximately 12:08 p.m., a Chevrolet Silverado was traveling eastbound on Clayton Delaney Road, approaching the intersection with Alley Mill Road. At the same time, a silver Jeep Compass was traveling northbound on Alley Mill Road and rolled through the stop sign at the intersection. As a result, the front of the Silverado struck the driver’s side of the Jeep.

    The driver of the Silverado, a 40-year-old man from Clayton, and his two passengers were transported to an area hospital, where they were treated for minor injuries and later released.

    The driver of the Jeep, a 73-year-old man from Clayton, was also transported to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead. His identity is being withheld until his family is notified.

    The roadway was closed for approximately 3 hours while the Delaware State Police Troop 2 Collision Reconstruction Unit investigated the crash and cleared the roadway.

  • State Police Investigating Fatal Pedestrian Hit-and-Run Crash in Wilmington

    The Delaware State Police are investigating a fatal pedestrian hit-and-run crash that occurred Friday night in Wilmington that left one man dead.

    On April 4, 2025, at approximately 11:36 p.m., a pedestrian was walking southbound, in the lane of travel, on Augustine Cut-Off south of Alapocas Drive. At the same time, an unknown vehicle was traveling southbound on Augustine Cut-Off near Alapocas Drive. The investigation revealed that the front of the unknown vehicle hit the pedestrian and fled southbound on Augustine Cut-Off.

    The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. His name is being withheld until his family has been notified.

    The roadway was closed for approximately 3 hours while the scene was investigated and cleared.

  • State Police Investigating Fatal Pedestrian Crash in Rehoboth Beach

    The Delaware State Police are investigating a fatal pedestrian crash that occurred this morning in Rehoboth Beach that left one woman dead.

    On March 31, 2025, at approximately 7:58 a.m., a Dodge Ram was backing onto the sidewalk to load mulch in the parking lot of Walmart, located at 18922 Rehoboth Mall Boulevard in Rehoboth Beach. At the same time, a pedestrian was standing behind the Dodge, intending to guide the driver back. The investigation revealed that when the Dodge reversed, it hit the pedestrian and pinned her against the building.

    The pedestrian, a 66-year-old woman from Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, was pronounced dead at the scene. Her name is being withheld until her family is notified.

    The driver of the Dodge, a 76-year-old man, also from Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, was not injured.

  • State Police Investigating Single-Vehicle Fatal Crash in Selbyville

    Delaware State Police are investigating a single-vehicle fatal crash that occurred last night in Selbyville that left one woman dead.

    On March 26, 2025, at approximately 8:51 p.m., a Hyundai Sonata was traveling westbound on Cypress Road approaching a curve near Daisey Road. The investigation revealed that the Sonata failed to negotiate the curve, left the north side of the road, and the right rear of the car struck a tree. After the collision with the tree, the Sonata continued westbound and struck a second tree.

    The driver, a 27-year-old woman from Bishopville, Maryland, was flown to an area hospital with serious injuries and later died. Her name is being withheld until her family is notified.

    Cypress Road was closed for an extended time while the scene was investigated and cleared.

  • State Police Investigating Fatal Three-Vehicle Crash in Felton

    Delaware State Police are investigating a fatal three-vehicle crash that occurred this morning in Felton that left one man dead.

    On March 26, 2025, at approximately 9:01 a.m., a Ford Fusion was traveling southbound on Canterbury Road north of Roesville Road at an apparent high rate of speed. At the same time, a Toyota Camry was traveling northbound on Canterbury Road approaching the intersection at Roesville Road. A third vehicle, a Mazda CX-5, was also traveling northbound behind the Camry. The preliminary investigation revealed that the Camry attempted to turn westbound onto Roesville Road and as a result, the front of the Fusion struck the right rear of the Camry. After the collision with the Camry, the Fusion left the east side of Canterbury Road, re-entered the roadway, and the front of the Fusion struck the front of the Mazda. The Mazda then entered a drainage ditch causing it to rollover on its side.

    The driver of the Fusion, a 33-year-old man from Dover, Delaware, was unrestrained and pronounced dead at the scene. His name is being withheld until his family is notified.

    The driver of the Mazda, a 28-year-old man from Felton, Delaware, was taken to an area hospital with serious injuries.

    The driver of the Camry, a 70-year-old woman from Felton, Delaware, was not injured.

    The roadway was closed for approximately 4.5 hours while the scene was investigated and cleared.

    Delaware State Police are investigating a fatal pedestrian crash that occurred Tuesday evening in Bear.

    On March 25, 2025, at approximately 5:00 p.m., a Mazda CX-9 was parked on the right shoulder of the northbound off-ramp from State Route 1 to Pulaski Highway. A disabled vehicle with a broken front left wheel was parked directly in front of the Mazda on the same shoulder. At that same time, a 74-year-old man from Bear, Delaware, was driving a GMC Sierra northbound on the off-ramp and approaching a curve to the left.

    A 39-year-old man from New Castle, Delaware, was outside of the disabled vehicle, attempting to change its damaged tire. Meanwhile, a 37-year-old woman, also from New Castle, began walking toward the rear of the Mazda. As the GMC entered the curve, it drifted onto the shoulder and struck the 37-year-old woman and the left rear of the Mazda. The GMC continued forward, and its right front then struck the 39-year-old man.

    The 74-year-old driver sustained minor injuries and was treated at the scene by emergency medical services. The 39-year-old man was transported to a nearby hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. The 37-year-old woman was also taken to a nearby hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Her identity is being withheld until her family is notified.

    The off-ramp was closed for approximately 4 hours while the Delaware State Police Troop 2 Collision Reconstruction Unit investigated the crash and cleared the roadway.

  • State Police Investigating Fatal Collision on I-495

    The Delaware State Police are investigating a fatal collision that occurred early this morning on I-495 in Wilmington that left one man dead.

    On March 24, 2025, at approximately 4:57 a.m., a silver 2011 Ford Fusion was stopped in the center lane of I-495 northbound, just south of the exit for US Route 13. At the same time, a gray 2019 Jeep Comanche was traveling in the center lane of I-495 northbound, approaching the Ford. The preliminary investigation suggests that the Ford was disabled in the center lane, and the driver of the Ford was standing in front of it prior to the collision. As a result, the Jeep struck the rear of the Ford, which forced the Ford forward, where it struck the victim, and then the guardrail along the right shoulder. After the collision, the Jeep came to a stop in the left lane of I-495 northbound.

    The driver of the Ford, a 35-year-old man from Darby, Pennsylvania, was pronounced dead at the scene. His name is being withheld until his family and relatives are notified.

    The driver of the Jeep, a 34-year-old woman from Newark, was not injured.

    The roadway was closed for approximately 4.5 hours while the investigators examined the scene and cleared the roadway.

    On March 18, 2025, at approximately 7:15 a.m., a blue 2004 Honda Accord was traveling at an apparent high rate of speed northbound on Sunset Lake Road (SR-72), south of Reybold Road. For reasons under investigation, the Honda went off the right side of the roadway, where it struck a ditch and several trees.

    The driver of the Honda, a 23-year-old man from Newark, Delaware, was pronounced dead at the scene. His name is being withheld until his family and relatives are notified.

    The roadway was closed for approximately 4.5 hours while the scene was investigated and cleared.

    Delaware State Police Investigating Fatal Collision

    Delaware State Police are investigating a fatal motor vehicle collision that occurred in the Selbyville area on Thursday morning.

    On August 18, 2022, at approximately 8:01 a.m., a gray 1999 Honda Civic was traveling westbound on McCabe Road approaching the intersection at Dupont Boulevard, where there is a posted stop sign for westbound traffic. At the same time, a white 2012 Toyota Rav-4 was traveling northbound on Dupont Boulevard approaching the intersection at McCabe Road. For unknown reasons, the driver of the Civic failed to remain stopped at the stop sign and proceeded to travel onto Dupont Boulevard and into the path of the Rav-4. As a result, the front center of the Toyota struck the left side of the Honda. Both vehicles traveled in a northwesterly direction until coming to rest in the southbound lanes of Dupont Boulevard.

    The operator of the Honda Civic, a 28-year-old male from Frankford, DE, was properly restrained. He was pronounced deceased at the scene. Identification of the victim is pending notification to the next of kin. The operator of the Toyota Rav-4, a 24-year-old female from Rockaway, New Jersey, was properly restrained. She was transported via ambulance to an area hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. The passenger of the Rav-4, a 16-year-old female from Rockaway, New Jersey, was properly restrained. She was transported via ambulance to an area hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

    No other vehicles were involved in this incident. The roadway was closed for approximately three hours while the collision was being investigated and cleared.

    Victim identified in fatal Camden-Wyoming crash

    Delaware State Police have identified the victim in a fatal crash that occurred on June 29 in the Camden-Wyoming area.

    Investigators say 21-year-old Phylicia Galvin of Greensboro, Maryland was driving eastbound in a 2004 Pontiac Vibe on Willow Grove Road just east of Firetower Road when she crossed into the westbound lane and drove off the north edge of the roadway. She struck a utility pole and overturned.

    Galvin was properly restrained and taken to a nearby hospital for serious injuries, where she was later pronounced dead. No other vehicles were involved in the crash. Roadways were closed for several hours for an investigation.

    DSP investigating fatal crash in Camden-Wyoming

    Delaware State Police are investigating a fatal motor vehicle collision that occurred in the Camden-Wyoming area on Wednesday morning.

    On June 29, 2022, at approximately 7:51 a.m., a gray 2004 Pontiac Vibe was traveling eastbound on Willow Grove Road east of Firetower Road. For unknown reasons the Pontiac crossed into the westbound lane of Willow Grove Road and drove off the north edge of the roadway. As the vehicle exited the roadway it began rotating in a clockwise direction. After leaving the roadway the Pontiac traveled a short distance until its driver’s side door struck a utility pole. The vehicle then spun, overturned onto its roof, and came to rest in a ditch north of the north edge of Willow Grove Road.

    The operator of the Pontiac, a 21-year-old female from Greensboro, Maryland, was properly restrained. She sustained serious injuries and was transported to an area hospital, where she was later pronounced deceased. Identification of the victim is pending notification to the next-of-kin.

    No other vehicles were involved in this collision, and no other injuries were reported. The roadway was closed for approximately three hours while the collision was being investigated and cleared.

    Dover Police identify victim in weekend fatal crash

    Dover Police have identified the victim of a fatal crash on Kings Highway and Park Drive on Saturday night (June 3).

    Police say 21-year-old Briyana Berry was in the front passenger seat of a vehicle when the 20-year-old driver reportedly crossed the center line, hitting a traffic island and then a traffic signal pole. Police say Berry was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

    The driver was not injured, but officials say he is being evaluated for a possible medical condition. The cause of the crash is still under investigation.

    17-year-old killed, several more injured in crash near Lewes

    A 17-year-old Middletown teen has died and several more were injured in a serious crash near Lewes.

    According to the Delaware State Police Department, the crash occurred around 2:10 p.m., Friday as a 2012 Honda CR-V was traveling eastbound on Lewes-Georgetown Highway (Route 9), approaching the intersection at Ebb Tide Drive.

    At the same time, police say a 2009 Ram 1500 was traveling westbound on Lewes-Georgetown Highway, crossing the intersection at Ebb Tide Drive. A non-contact vehicle was stopped eastbound waiting to turn left onto Ebb Tide Drive. A second non-contact vehicle was also slowing to a stop behind that vehicle.

    The driver of the Honda failed to see the stopped traffic ahead, according to police, and in an attempt to avoid a collision, swerved left into the westbound lane.

    The Ram also swerved towards the shoulder, to avoid the Honda, but the front of both vehicles struck in a near-head-on collision. After impact the Honda overturned and struck a utility pole before coming to rest off the roadway. The Ram came to rest in the same area as the impact.

    There were five occupants inside of the Honda: An 18-year-old male of Bear, DE was flown to Christiana Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries; A 17-year-old female of Bear, DE was transported to Beebe Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries; An 18-year-old female of Wilmington, DE was flown to Christiana Hospital in critical condition; A 16-year-old female of Middletown, DE was flown to Christiana Hospital in critical condition; A 17-year-old male of Middletown, DE was transported to Beebe Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased. Identification of the victim is pending notification to the next of kin.

    The driver of the Honda has not been confirmed. This remains an active and on-going investigation.

    The 77-year-old male operator of the Ram was treated and released at an area hospital for minor injuries.

    The roadway was closed for approximately 3 hours while the investigation was completed, and the roadway was cleared.

    A 13-year-old girl has died following a serious crash near Millsboro.

    According to the Delaware State Police Department, the crash occurred around 1:11 p.m., Monday as a 2006 Jeep Liberty, operated by a 17-year-old girl from Frankford, was traveling northbound on Hollyville Road, approaching the intersection at Harmony Cemetery Road. At the same time, a 2016 Freightliner flatbed truck was traveling southbound in the same vicinity. For unknown reasons, the driver of the Jeep lost control of the vehicle, crossed into the southbound lane, and began rotating in counterclockwise rotation, exposing the passenger side. 

    Police say the driver of the Freightliner, a 26-year-old Salisbury, Maryland man, applied the brakes in an attempt to avoid a collision, but the front of the truck struck the passenger side of the Jeep. After impact, the Jeep was forced off the west side of the road. The Freightliner was redirected off the west side of the road and struck a tree.

    The driver of the Jeep was transported to Beebe hospital and treated for minor injuries. There was a 13-year-old girl in the front seat. She was pronounced deceased at the scene.

    The road was closed for over three hours while the investigation was completed and the roadway was cleared.

    A Felton man has died after his car ran off the road and struck a tree.

    According to Delaware State Police, the crash occurred just before 7 a.m. Monday as a 55-year-old Felton man was driving a 2003 Jeep Cherokee eastbound on Firetower Road, just east of Berrytown Road.

    For unknown reasons, the driver exited the north edge of the roadway and entered a ditch.

    The Jeep traveled a short distance before the front center of the vehicle collided with a large tree.

    The driver was not properly restrained and was pronounced dead at the scene.

    The road was closed for around three hours while the crash was investigated and later cleared.

    Millsboro man has died following serious crash near Georgetown

    A Millsboro man has died following a serious crash where a car ran off the road and struck a tree near Georgetown.

    According to Delaware State Police, the crash occurred around 1:36 p.m., Thursday as a 2002 Honda Civic was traveling westbound on Vaughn Road, approaching a sharp right curve. For unknown reasons, police say the driver, a 42-year-old Georgetown woman, failed to negotiate the curve and exited the south edge of the road before swerving right in an attempt to re-enter the roadway.

    As the Civic re-entered Vaughn Road, the driver overcorrected to the left, and the car began skidding and ran off the north edge of the road. The vehicle then continued to slide through the grass, and the front of the car struck a tree. 

    The driver was not properly restrained at the time of the crash and was transported to an area hospital with serious injuries.

    A 31-year-old Millsboro man, who was seated in the front seat and was not properly restrained at the time of the crash, was transported to an area hospital where he died from his injuries.

    A 53-year-old Georgetown man was seated in the back seat and also was not properly restrained at the time of the crash. He was transported to an area hospital with serious injuries.

    Vaughn Road was shut down for over four hours while the crash was investigated and later cleared.

    20-year-old killed in head-on crash near Bridgeville.

    A head-on collision this morning near Bridgeville has claimed the life of a 20-year-old Federalsburg, Maryland man.

    According to Delaware State Police, the crash occurred around 7:24 a.m., Friday as a 2021 Toyota Corolla, operated by a 20-year-old Federalsburg, Maryland man, was traveling eastbound on Atlanta Road, negotiating a slight right curve. At the same time, a 2021 fully loaded cement Mack Granite truck, driven by a 53-year-old Bridgeville man, was traveling westbound in the same area.

    Due to unknown circumstances, police say the Toyota failed to negotiate a curve and crossed into the westbound lane, directly into the path of the cement truck. The truck tried to avoid the collision and hit the breaks; however, the front of the Toyota struck the front of the Mack truck in a head-on collision. 

    The cement truck pushed the Toyota a short distance backwards in a westerly direction before coming to a rest, according to police. The cement truck became engulfed in flames.

    The driver of the Toyota, who was properly restrained at the time of the crash, was pronounced dead at the scene.

    The 53-year-old driver of the cement truck was uninjured.

    The road was closed for six hours while the investigation was completed and the highway was cleared.

    Teen killed in head-on crash near Laurel

    An 18-year-old has died following a serious head-on crash near Laurel.

    According to Delaware State Police, the crash occurred around 4:38 p.m., Thursday as a 1998 Honda Civic, operated by a 25-year-old Seaford man, was traveling northbound on Seaford Road, just south of Mount Zion Road negotiating a slight right curve.

    At the same time, a 1998 Mazda B25, operated by a 55-year-old Delmar, Delaware man, was traveling southbound on Seaford Road in the same location. Due to unknown circumstances, the Honda and the Mazda struck head-on in the northbound lane of Seaford Road.

    The 25-year-old driver of the Honda was not property restrained and was taken to an area hospital in critical condition.

    An 18-year-old male from Philadelphia was sitting in the front passenger seat, according to police. He was not properly restrained at the time of the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene.

    The 55-year-old driver of the Mazda was properly restrained and transported to an area hospital in critical condition.

    The road was closed for approximately three hours while the crash was investigated and cleared.
