TEMPE, Ariz. — The Arizona Cardinals finalized a four-year rookie contract with quarterback Carson Beck on Wednesday, the day before the team was set to hold its first training camp practice.
Beck, who is 24 years old, appears likely to enter a three-way battle for the starting quarterback spot when camp opens Thursday. He’ll be competing against veteran quarterbacks Jacoby Brissett and Gardner Minshew, with Kedon Slovis also on the depth chart. The team is operating under first-year head coach Mike LaFleur.
Beck came to Arizona as a third-round draft pick out of Miami, where he guided the Hurricanes to a second-place finish in last season’s College Football Playoff.
With Beck’s signing, the Cardinals have now completed contracts with every player selected in their most recent NFL Draft class.
The team also made two other roster moves Wednesday, announcing the signing of defensive lineman Coziah Izzard while placing rookie defensive lineman Kaleb Proctor on injured reserve. Proctor sustained a knee injury during offseason workouts.
