Troopers Arrest New Castle Man Following Pursuit in Stolen Ford F-150

Delaware State Police arrested 25-year-old Najee McNeil of New Castle, Delaware, for multiple offenses following a pursuit in a stolen Ford F-150 on Monday morning in Bear.

On March 18, 2024, at approximately 11:34 a.m., a trooper on patrol responded to the area of Bear Christiana Road and Newton Road in Bear for a report of a stolen silver Ford F-150 traveling through the area. While canvassing the area, the trooper observed the stolen pickup truck turning onto eastbound Songsmith Drive and traveling towards Bear Christiana Road. The trooper initiated a traffic stop, which the Ford disregarded as it fled at a high rate of speed southbound on Bear Christiana Road towards Pulaski Highway. In the ensuing pursuit, the Ford continued to travel in a reckless manner as it fled westbound on Pulaski Highway. After the Ford turned into a neighborhood, the suspect abandoned the truck on Linn Court and fled on foot. Troopers and New Castle County Police Officers canvassed the area for the suspect and successfully located him in front of a residence on Rawlings Drive. The suspect, identified as Najee McNeil, was taken into custody without incident. A search of McNeil’s person led to the discovery of the stolen Ford’s key, approximately 1.8 grams of marijuana, and drug paraphernalia.

A computer inquiry was conducted and revealed McNeil does not have a valid drivers license. McNeil was taken to Troop 2, where he was charged with the crimes listed below, arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2, and released on a $9,500 unsecured bond.

  • Receiving Stolen Property (Felony)
  • Disregarding a Police Officer Signal (Felony)
  • Possession of Marijuana Other Than Personal Use Quantity
  • Resisting Arrest
  • Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
  • Driving Without a Valid License
  • Additional Traffic Violations
