Narrative: The Dover Police Department has arrested a 17-year-old Hispanic male, of Dover, for stealing a firearm Wednesday afternoon. The investigation began at 4:09 p.m., when Dover Police was called to the 100 block of Derbyshire Court for the report of a theft of a firearm. Officers responded and contacted the victim who advised that a 17-year-old resident of a home he was working on had stolen a firearm from him. The ensuing investigation revealed that the victim was working on a house and at some point during the day, the 17-year-old suspect removed a firearm from the victim’s vehicle. When confronted, the 17-year-old pulled the firearm out of his waistband. The firearm was then recovered. The 17-year-old was taken into custody without incident and transported to Dover Police where he was processed and then arraigned at JP7.
The 17-year-old was committed to Stevenson House Correctional Facility on $82,500 cash bond on the following charges:
-Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony
-Possession of a Firearm/Ammunition by a Person Prohibited
-Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon
-Aggravated Menacing
-Theft of a Firearm
The 17-year-old is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
