The National Hurricane Center in Miami issued its sixth forecast advisory for Tropical Depression Two on Monday evening, placing the storm’s center near 28.7 degrees north latitude and 85.8 degrees west longitude as of 9 p.m. UTC on July 20, 2026.<\/p>

The depression was drifting slowly toward the northwest at just 3 knots, with a minimum central pressure of 1005 millibars. Maximum sustained winds were measured at 30 knots, with gusts reaching up to 40 knots.<\/p>

Forecasters are expecting the system to gradually intensify over the next day and a half. By Tuesday morning, winds are projected to reach 35 knots, climbing to 40 knots by Tuesday evening and peaking near 45 knots by early Wednesday morning before the storm moves over land.<\/p>

The system is forecast to push inland by Wednesday morning near 29.6 degrees north, 89.8 degrees west, with winds decreasing to 35 knots. By Wednesday evening, the storm is expected to be further inland with winds down to 30 knots.<\/p>

The extended outlook shows the system continuing to weaken, dropping to 25 knots by Thursday evening and eventually becoming post-tropical with 20-knot winds by Friday evening as it tracks westward.<\/p>

The National Hurricane Center is requesting ship reports every three hours from vessels within 300 miles of the storm’s current position. The next full advisory was scheduled for 3 a.m. UTC Tuesday. Forecaster Beven authored this advisory.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
