Jordanian officials are pushing back against claims made by the U.S. embassy in Amman, saying no evacuation order has been issued for the airport or seaport in the city of Aqaba.<\/p>

Government spokesperson Mohammad Al-Momani addressed the matter in a written statement to Reuters on Sunday. “No potential threats have been recorded by the relevant Jordanian authorities in the past few hours,” he said. “The airport and port are operating normally.”<\/p>

The U.S. embassy had previously stated that both the airport and seaport had been evacuated due to what it described as a “specific and credible threat,” though it did not elaborate on the nature of that threat.<\/p>

The embassy also urged American citizens to avoid traveling to either location and to stay up to date with any security guidance issued by Jordanian authorities.<\/p>

The dispute comes amid heightened regional tensions. The U.S. military reported on Saturday that two of its service members were killed in Jordan and a third was unaccounted for following an Iranian attack.<\/p>
