LOS ANGELES (AP) \u2014 Paul Pelosi, the husband of former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, is facing a misdemeanor hit-and-run charge after allegedly striking a parked car and leaving the scene in California.<\/p>

The 86-year-old was behind the wheel of his brown convertible on July 3 in Yountville \u2014 a small town nestled in California wine country \u2014 when he hit a legally parked, unoccupied vehicle along the roadside, according to a statement from the Napa County Sheriff’s Office. Pelosi reportedly paused briefly before allegedly driving away. No one was hurt in the incident.<\/p>

Authorities confirmed that Pelosi had no alcohol in his system at the time of the collision.<\/p>

Under California law, drivers involved in crashes that cause property damage are required to stop and share their vehicle registration and license information with the other party. Prosecutors in Napa County say Pelosi failed to do that, resulting in the misdemeanor charge. He was also cited for an infraction related to making an illegal turn.<\/p>

No legal representation for Paul Pelosi appeared in court records as of Friday. A call to Nancy Pelosi’s press office seeking comment was not returned.<\/p>

Pelosi is due in court on August 14.<\/p>

This is not Pelosi’s first brush with the law on the road. In 2022, he pleaded guilty to misdemeanor DUI charges in Napa County and was sentenced to five days behind bars along with three years of probation. He ultimately served two days in jail, received credit for two additional days for good behavior, and completed the remaining day through a courthouse work program.<\/p>

His probation terms required him to pay thousands of dollars in fines and victim restitution, complete a three-month class for drinking drivers, and install an ignition interlock device \u2014 a breathalyzer system that prevents a vehicle from starting unless the driver proves sobriety.<\/p>

Also in 2022, Pelosi was the victim of a violent attack at the couple’s San Francisco home, where he was seriously injured after being beaten with a hammer.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
