The WNBA has postponed Thursday night’s scheduled matchup between the New York Liberty and the Dallas Wings after mechanical problems grounded the Liberty’s charter flight, leaving the team stuck in New York City.<\/p>

League officials rescheduled the contest for Monday evening, with tip-off set for 8 p.m. ET \/ 7 p.m. CT.<\/p>

According to the New York Post, the Liberty were still in New York City on Thursday morning \u2014 even though their game in Texas was set to begin at 9 p.m. ET that night.<\/p>

The team had originally planned to fly to Dallas on Wednesday, but social media posts from Liberty players late that evening made it clear the plane had not left the ground. Liberty rookie Pauline Astier captured the frustration in a post on Instagram, writing in her native French: “10 hours later, still on the tarmac.”<\/p>

The delay comes at a tough time for New York. The Liberty, now 13-11 on the season, have lost three games in a row and dropped five of their last seven contests. Meanwhile, the Wings are rolling, sitting fourth in the league standings at 16-8 on the back of a season-best five-game winning streak.<\/p>

Dallas will have some time off before returning to action Sunday, when the team hosts the Los Angeles Sparks at noon local time. The Wings will then turn around the following night to face the Liberty in the rescheduled game. As for New York, the Liberty are scheduled to travel to Indianapolis first to take on the Indiana Fever on Saturday night before finally heading to Texas.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
