The United States military announced Tuesday that it is conducting a new round of strikes against Iran.<\/p>

According to a social media post from the U.S. Central Command, the strikes got underway Tuesday afternoon Eastern Time.<\/p>

The military action follows Iran’s announcement that it had closed the Strait of Hormuz, prompting the U.S. to prepare for a reinstatement of a blockade on Iranian shipping.<\/p>
