WASHINGTON \u2014 The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency announced Thursday that it is seeking to relax emissions standards for heavy trucks and engines that were established under former Democratic President Joe Biden back in 2023.<\/p>

As part of the proposal, the EPA is looking to reduce emissions warranty requirements and push back the timeline for when more stringent regulatory useful life standards would kick in.<\/p>

The agency acknowledged that some manufacturers working on 2027 model-year medium and heavy-duty engine development have run into technical hurdles. In response, the EPA is proposing to let those manufacturers continue selling their existing products while they finish developing engines that meet the 2027 compliance standards.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
