TOKYO \u2014 The Bank of Japan announced Friday that its governor, Kazuo Ueda, has been released from the hospital after a two-week medical stay.<\/p>

According to a statement from the central bank, Ueda plans to return to the office on Tuesday and will continue receiving treatment for roughly two additional weeks.<\/p>

The 74-year-old had been hospitalized for treatment of an infected liver cyst. His absence caused him to miss the Bank of Japan’s policy meeting on Tuesday, during which the central bank voted to raise interest rates to their highest level in 31 years.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
