Narrative:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

The Dover Police Department, in collaboration with the Delaware State University Police Department, is investigating a shooting that resulted in the death of a 18-year-old female, of Wilmington. The investigation began at approximately 1:40 a.m.\u00a0Sunday morning, when DSU Police received a call for shots fired on campus, in the area\u00a0Warren-Franklin Hall. Officers responded and located the victim, an 18-year-old female of Wilmington, who had sustained\u00a0a gun shot wound to her upper body. Officers rendered aid to the victim and she was transported to Bayhealth Kent Campus for treatment. Tragically, the 18-year-old died at the hospital as a result of her injuries. The victim\u2019s name is being withheld pending notification of her family. She was not a registered student of the University. No other injuries were reported. At this time, no suspect description is available.<\/p>\n

Delaware State University provided the following statement.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe DSU Police Department and staff will continue to take all necessary actions to ensure the health and well-being of our campus community.\u00a0 Counseling services are available in the Tubman Laws Hall housing office.\u00a0 The campus is closed today, events have been cancelled, and police patrols have been increased.\u00a0 No visitation will be permitted today.\u201d<\/p>\n

This investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is asked to contact the Dover Police Department at (302)736-7130. Callers may remain anonymous.
