Romanian officials announced Friday that two civilians were hurt when a drone struck a southeastern Romanian city during Russia’s nighttime assault on neighboring Ukraine, an event that threatens to escalate tensions along NATO’s eastern border.<\/p>

International leaders responded swiftly with condemnation and pledges of support:<\/p>

“Romania is a NATO member state and will not accept, under any circumstances, that the war of aggression waged by Russia against Ukraine be transferred to its citizens.<\/p>

“The unprecedented nature of the event demands a firm, coordinated and proportionate response \u2013 at national, allied and international level.”<\/p>

He later stated: “I want to thank our partners for their solidarity, in the EU and NATO; this \u2026 proves there is Euroatlantic solidarity and unity.”<\/p>
