Delaware State Police are investigating a single-vehicle fatal crash that occurred Saturday night in Felton, claiming the life of a 60-year-old Dover resident.<\/p>\n
On February 10, 2024, at approximately 8:38 p.m., a Nissan Versa was traveling southbound on Firetower Road, just north of Berrytown Road, when it veered off the west edge of the roadway after failing to negotiate a curve. The vehicle continued in a southern direction before colliding with a tree.<\/p>\n
The investigation suggests alcohol was involved, and the driver, identified as Steven Satterfield<\/strong>, was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. Mr. Satterfield was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries. On February 11, 2024, he died from injuries sustained during the crash.<\/p>\n The roadway was temporarily closed for approximately 2.5 hours as investigators examined the scene and cleared the roadway.<\/p>\n The Delaware State Police Troop 3 Collision Reconstruction Unit continues to investigate this incident. Troopers are asking anyone who witnessed this crash to contact Master Corporal J. Lane by calling (302) 698-8457.
