China’s Commerce Minister Wang Wentao has expressed his country’s interest in enhancing economic partnerships with the United States during discussions with US Trade Representative Jamieson Greer, according to an official statement from China’s Commerce Ministry.<\/p>

The conversation took place Thursday at a World Trade Organization conference in Cameroon, ministry officials reported.<\/p>

During the meeting, Wang emphasized that economic and commercial relationships should serve as the foundation of US-China relations, stating that both nations must “properly handle the relationship between competition and cooperation.”<\/p>

The Chinese minister advocated for enhanced mutually beneficial partnerships while urging both countries to “avoid vicious competition” and work together to “look forward” toward establishing healthy and stable bilateral trade relationships.<\/p>

Wang also voiced “serious concern” about America’s Section 301 trade investigations targeting multiple countries, including China.<\/p>
